Chapter 250 The Experience of Riding a Giant Dragon
To Alphonse's surprise, the person who jumped up next to him was none other than the half-dragon Vitina.
"Are you coming to Coldwind Territory with me too?"
Vitina knelt down obediently and cautiously, as if trying her best to minimize her presence, but she couldn't ignore Alphonse's question, so she whispered, "The Pope has appointed me as Miss Sera's bodyguard."
As a dragonborn, she had an innate awe of dragons. She never imagined she would have the chance to ride a real dragon. Being able to withstand the dragon's might and leap onto Edson's back filled her with trepidation.
Fortunately, Edson doesn't seem to mind.
Sera, however, was already secretly recalling her brother's instructions before his departure: "I've heard that noblewomen of humans love to fight amongst themselves. A powerful figure like the Saint must have no shortage of women around him. Having Vitina with you will give you more help. Don't cause trouble, but we dark elves aren't to be bullied. Your brother is your strongest support."
Master Godin had also jumped up and was scanning Edson's back.
Edson's back is extremely broad, and although there is a rugged keratinous structure in the center of its spine, the platinum scales are still quite flat and smooth.
With only three people and a wolf, there was still plenty of room to maneuver.
If the group could still move around while Edson was flying.
"Everything ready? Then I'm taking off~~~" Edson's thunderous voice was tinged with a hint of joy.
"Alright," Alphonse replied.
Edson added, "There's no need to worry too much. It's a very safe journey. I'll set up a protective shield with magic, and you can move freely on my back. As long as you don't break the shield, you won't fall off! Of course, if you do fall off, I still have a chance to pull you out! Hahaha!"
As he spoke, Edson let out a few deep laughs, seemingly quite pleased with his sense of humor.
As soon as he finished speaking, his three pairs of wings spread out and flapped.
A strong wind blew in all directions.
Edson took to the air.
Almost instantly, it rapidly ascended to a high altitude.
Alphonse and the others did not even feel the slightest turbulence or the strong winds at high altitude.
Edson was right; a nearly transparent shield formed on his back.
The low temperatures and fierce winds at high altitudes are kept out.
Through the shield, the disturbances caused by external airflow and clouds can be clearly seen.
Edson is speeding through the clouds.
Dragons don't fly like birds, constantly flapping their wings rapidly. Instead, they fly more like eagles, gliding with their wings spread and occasionally flapping them.
Alphonse walked to the edge of the shield and saw the distant mountains layered upon each other, stretching endlessly, but in the blink of an eye, they were left behind.
Edson's flight speed was indeed exceptionally fast!
Suddenly, a question occurred to him, and he immediately called out, "Edson!"
Alphonse wasn't sure if he would be able to have a normal conversation with Edson while in flight.
"Hmm?" Edson's massive dragon head tilted slightly, and a deep, thunderous male voice came through, "What is it?"
Clearly, one can still converse with them at this time, completely unaffected by the external environment.
"Once we arrive in Coldwind Territory, you can say that you are my teacher and that all my skills were taught to me by you," Alphonse said.
"Huh?" Edson blinked, somewhat bewildered. "Why do you want me to say that?"
"For some reasons that are hard to explain, I once told my family that all my skills were taught to me by a mysterious bard named Edson. They also regarded these as a kind of ancient witchcraft. This was originally just a character I made up. Who would have thought that you would be so coincidentally named Edson? That's not bad, you can help me cover up this lie," Alphonse explained.
A real dragon, a bard in disguise—mysterious and powerful, right?
"Sure, sure!" Edson was clearly intrigued. "But where did you learn your skills? There must be some source, right?"
"Everyone says it's hard to explain clearly, you just learn it inexplicably." Alphonse really didn't want to reveal that he had transmigrated to this world.
"Alphonse is my Lord's chosen one, and perhaps this is a revelation from my Lord!" Sera interjected.
"That's not surprising, after all, those favored by the gods are people who can communicate with the gods," Master Godin said with deep agreement.
That's exactly how you'll make amends for me!
Alphonse was delighted. One lie requires countless lies to cover it up, and without a definite explanation, things would only get more and more complicated.
Edson shook his head, looking somewhat dejected. "The connection between the gods and the mortal world seems to be getting weaker and weaker. For the past hundred years, our Dragon King has not been able to receive any enlightenment from the Dragon God."
Alphonse had nothing to say about the belief in dragons and did not answer immediately.
Edson, however, seemed to find it rare to have someone to talk to during the flight, and his mood instantly brightened. "Speaking of which, this is my first time taking on a student, Alphonse. Call me 'teacher' and let me hear it!"
Alphonse: "."
He said, quite speechless, "It's just an act. If you want to take on students, it's easy. Just reveal your dragon identity, and plenty of people will want to be your teacher!"
“It’s different!” Edson shook his head. “What can I teach them? Dragon language magic? Even if they learn dragon language, they won’t be able to use it. Our physical structure is different. Our dragons’ power is innate, and we can only learn magic through generations of inheritance.”
Alphonse didn't dwell on the matter and looked into the distance.
It appears that we have already entered the territory of the orc kingdom of Bozak.
Although the Kingdom of Izmir has mountains, rivers, and numerous jungles, it can still be described as having beautiful scenery.
The Kingdom of Bozak, however, was like a wild and desolate land, with barren mountains and treacherous waters. Even the peaks were exceptionally steep, and only a few orc camps could be seen scattered among the mountains and primeval forests.
This country seems to lack any magical technology, yet it has countless races, all of whom live a life resembling that of savages.
That doesn't seem quite right either, since they were originally orcs.
On some mountain peaks, Alphonse also saw bird-people, a strange race with wings on their arms and claws on their legs.
Fortunately, Edson used magic to conceal his aura; otherwise, these birdmen would have been terrified.
"Will we stop for a break in between?" Sera asked casually. She wanted to talk to Vitina more, but Vitina just knelt there, shivering and staring blankly.
Despite it being a rare experience—riding a giant dragon—Vitina seemed terrified.
"No need," Edson replied nonchalantly. "I can fly there nonstop. If you want to sleep, just go to sleep. A night or two without sleep is nothing to me. Of course, I also sleep for much longer than you do." (End of Chapter)
