Chapter 285 Attack on Gaiana Prison
The night was deep, and only faint stars could be seen in the inky sky; even the moon was only faintly visible behind the clouds.
Theon and Kaaidi led the members of the Redwood Party, together with the Dark Elves, to the outside of Gaiana Prison, where they concealed themselves under the cover of the trees.
Theon originally didn't want to bring Kaetti along on this mission, but Kaetti refused to stay in the Redwood Party's stronghold as a figurehead and insisted on coming along.
Faced with Kaydi, Theon simply couldn't bring himself to be hard-hearted and had no choice but to comply with her wishes.
During the journey, Theon had discussed battle plans with Pope Sharibel of the Dark Church on several occasions.
Theon was the one who came up with the plan, but Sharibel just listened with a smile. When it came to dividing up the tasks, she shook her head, indicating that she did not like Theon's proposed strategy.
He seems easy to talk to, but in reality, he seems somewhat cold and unapproachable.
It seems he already has a plan in mind.
After all, the Dark Elves were partners, not Theon's subordinates, and it was not appropriate to forcibly interfere with them.
Most importantly, the Dark Elves are far more powerful than the Red Forest Party.
Theon was also at a loss.
Although Guyana Prison mainly houses political prisoners and doesn't contain many truly heinous criminals, its security is extremely tight.
Gazing at the guards patrolling the high walls from afar, Theon was also troubled.
Tonight, the sky is very dark, but the lights at Guyana Prison are still bright.
It seems there's no other way to take down this fortress-like prison except through a direct assault.
Suddenly, Sharibel said from the side, "We'll go first. You guys wait here for our signal before coming over."
Without waiting for Theon's response, he raised his hand and shouted, "Go!"
In an instant, the dark elves surged out of the dense forest like a tide.
But in the blink of an eye, they disappeared from everyone's sight.
It seemed to blend into the darkness of the night.
A dark elf force of a thousand men vanished without a trace!
The Red Forest Party isn't without professions like thieves and assassins, but none of them can move as freely and effortlessly as these dark elves, dashing out and entering stealth without any pretense.
Suddenly, Theon saw the guards walking on the towering wall tremble slightly, but then they returned to normal and continued their patrol.
But the little goblin Megum, nestled beside Theon's ear, tugged at his hair and whispered with a hint of fear, "The guards on the city walls are dead!"
Theon felt a chill run down his spine. Megami's perception was far superior to his; her ability to communicate with all things in nature allowed her to see what was happening in distant places.
This is absolutely not a lie.
Theon couldn't figure out how the dark elves killed the guards and kept them moving.
When Megumi heard this, Kaetti was also shocked and stunned.
If anything unusual happens on the wall, the guards in the prison watchtower will definitely notice.
Unfortunately, everything was as usual, and it seemed that nothing unexpected had happened.
But nothing came of it; the prison gates remained closed.
Although it was called a joint operation, the Dark Elves seemed to have completely taken the lead in this operation.
The night remained quiet.
A silent undercurrent was brewing within the prison.
Eventually, some prisoners in the cell sensed that something was wrong.
Logically speaking, one should be able to hear the guards walking and patrolling in this quiet night.
From the top of the metal-cast door, through the small window that could only fit a hand, one could hear the faint sounds from the prisoners in the surrounding and opposite cells.
This led them to the small window, where they peered out.
To their astonishment, they found that the guard was standing and leaning against the wall on one side, seemingly unable to resist his fatigue, and had fallen asleep against the wall.
But upon closer inspection, it became clear that the guard was not dozing off; blood was dripping from his throat and onto the ground.
The guard, unaware of when, had his throat slit and died a violent death.
In this cell, it was so quiet that the sound of blood dripping onto the floor could not be heard.
He called out to the prisoners in the opposite cell, but all he saw was a pair of bewildered eyes through the small window.
It seems that they have been completely cut off from the outside world.
There was no sign of the killings; it was as if ghosts had invaded the Gaiana prison, eerily terrifying.
The warden, who was on the upper level, also sensed something was wrong. With his perception abilities, he could keep track of the situation in most of the prison.
But the sudden silence was too strange.
His first thought was to go out and check.
Just as I reached the door, it suddenly burst open, shattering into pieces.
A black blade, leaving afterimages, slashed down like lightning.
Although the incident was sudden, the warden was ultimately a master-level expert, and such an attack was not enough to take his life.
He suddenly took a step back, and the long sword at his waist was drawn with a sharp flash, bringing with it a dazzling battle aura, blocking all the slashes from the black blade.
At this moment, he also saw the appearance of the assassin who had suddenly attacked him. He was a man with gray hair, a bluish-gray complexion that was almost black, and long ears that resembled those of an elf.
Dark elves?! The warden couldn't help but show a look of surprise.
The blade, seemingly formed from shadow, extended from his arm, incredibly long, like two long whips, slashing wildly with both force and speed, like a large net, enveloping him completely.
But the blade was fast, and the warden was even faster. He swiftly thrust his longsword, deflecting the incoming blade back with lightning speed.
In that instant, he had the opportunity to launch a counterattack.
The warden had full confidence in his own strength. Based on the feeling of clashing with that black blade, he knew that although the dark elf's attack was strange, its power did not exceed his own.
This dark elf assassin, however, will only be slain by his sword.
But at that moment, something unexpected happened, and the warden's forward momentum faltered.
A black halo wrapped around his body like ropes.
Suddenly, a dark elf leaped out of thin air, his short sword transforming into a streak of black light, aiming straight for the warden's vital ribs from below.
The angle of this sword strike was just right, and its speed was even more astonishing than that of the black blade.
If he were to stab you, it would definitely pierce straight through your ribs and into your heart.
The warden reacted quickly as well. The short sword had just pierced the dark elf's aura barrier and the tip of the sword had just entered his waist when he roared and unleashed his aura, shattering the restraints on his body. With a powerful kick, he slammed into the dark elf, sending him and his sword tumbling to the ground.
With a swift swing of his longsword, he swept back the pair of black blades that were attacking him again, and at the same time, he chased after the dark elf who had just managed to get up.
The warden's judgment was quite accurate. The dark elf whose arms had turned into black blades was still outside the door. His blades were too long and would be a problem in the spacious room.
However, his positioning prevented him from providing timely support to his teammates! (End of Chapter)
