Wizard: I crush legends with martial arts.

Chapter 294 The Night Before the Martial Arts Tournament

Alphonse was speechless because the little trick Melo showed was hardly sorcery; the secret lay in the powder she threw into the fire, which caused the flames to change color.

Such tricks might fool primitive people, but to fool Alphonse, who possesses the soul of a modern person, is to have chosen the wrong person.

Even a random middle school student could see through the secret behind the flame's reaction at a glance and explain it logically.

"Isn't this just a normal flame test? You threw salt, copper, sulfur, etc., into the fire one after another, right? Maybe it's copper sulfate, the blue crystals you found in the cave?"

Melo froze. She didn't understand what copper sulfate was, but she knew that Alphonse was right. One of the things she threw into the fire was the blue crystal she found in the cave, which could change the color of the flames. She had discovered it by accident.

Leo praised her for her thirst for knowledge in this matter.

Her face immediately fell. "So you knew."

"This isn't sorcery; it's more of a natural science. Adding various metallic elements to a flame can make it more colorful and vibrant," Alphonse laughed.

Melo turned her head and looked at Leo with a sullen expression. "Sister Leo, didn't you tell him?"

"No." Leo shook her head.

Melo pouted. "Just as Father said, many people outside are very knowledgeable. What I thought was a new discovery has actually been tested by others long ago."

She just liked to collect all sorts of things, hammer them, mix them, or burn them—she'd try anything. When she made some amazing discoveries, she considered them sorcery.

The adults thought she was just playing around, and only Leo would praise her, which is why she especially liked Leo.

Melo came over simply to satisfy his curiosity and see what his compatriots from the outside world looked like.

Some things that Alphonse mentioned casually piqued her interest.

The planet we live on is round, and climate change, like rain, isn't caused by God pouring water downhill, nor is lightning entirely divine punishment.

But Alphonse didn't dare to make any guarantees; he was just saying it casually, and it was rare to find an audience in another world who liked these kinds of things.

Alphonse didn't think he was confident he could establish a technological civilization in this other world, so he just chatted with Melo for a few minutes and did some simple popular science on natural science.

Minotaur are born warriors. Melo is still young and has a strong thirst for knowledge. Perhaps she will be a different person in the future. Alphonse has no intention of taking her back to teach her.

It means not to discriminate against other races, but only if they are under one's command.

Melo played for a while before reluctantly leaving at the urging of her family.

Dinner was cooked by Leo. Although the minotaurs mainly eat vegetarian food such as fruits and vegetables, they also eat some meat. However, they have very few seasonings. They just boil water with some rock salt, which is not very delicious. Alphonse and the other two just made do with the meal.

There wasn't much nighttime entertainment in the maze town, and with guests around, Leo didn't plan to smelt ore.

She went to collect minerals today entirely to suppress her inner turmoil and relieve stress.

She was confident of winning the martial arts tournament, but she was worried about her father's interference.

Leo took out several furs from the inner room, laid them out, and prepared to go to sleep. She needed to be well-rested to face the various things tomorrow.

Alphonse and Mia, however, did not have the habit of going to bed early. They still had to do their homework every day and always had to set aside some time to cultivate their internal strength.

Especially for Alphonse, the condensation of Qi vortexes at acupoints is related to the breakthrough of the next level of the Innate Formless Divine Skill. Condensing more Qi vortexes is also good. Although it is a slow and steady process, the more Qi vortexes are condensed, the faster the speed of the true Qi circulation will be, bringing about an increase in internal strength.

Seeing Alphonse stand upside down, and Mia sit cross-legged beside him with her eyes closed, Leo felt a sense of unease. After a moment's thought, she suddenly said, "Alphonse."

Alphonse hadn't even entered a meditative state when he immediately opened his eyes. "What's wrong?"

"You must also possess great power, right?" Leo had personally witnessed Alphonse carrying Mia and Mahaya as they drifted down from the edge of the crack in the earth.

She wouldn't dare jump straight down from that height, but Alphonse could.

She could sense that Mia had a very strong aura, but she couldn't sense the extent of Alphonse's strength.

Even Mia needed Alphonse to help her fall, which shows that Alphonse is definitely not weak either.

"It's alright, I'd say it's pretty strong," Alphonse replied casually.

"I hope you can participate in the martial arts tournament tomorrow," Leo said, revealing her intention.

"Why?" Alphonse asked, puzzled. "Can outsiders like us even participate?"

"There's no rule saying outsiders can't participate in the tournament. As long as you're a minotaur, you're fine. With the transformation orb given by the fox clan chief, no one will notice anything unusual." Leo sighed. "I don't know what methods my father will use to stop me from participating. Your participation will give you an extra layer of protection."

"Then we have to make sure the fox clan chief doesn't reveal this. It concerns the struggle for the chieftainship of your Minotaur clan. Ganges might not be able to keep it a secret for us, would he?" Mahaya, who was kneeling to the side, interjected.

"I don't think he'll expose you. He's not from the same race as you, so he won't show you kindness for no reason. He must need your help in some way," Leo said.

Alphonse thought so too, but he didn't understand Ganges's intentions.

"But you can't use magic in the tournament," Leo thought for a moment, then added, "Or rather, if you do use magic, just make sure no one can tell."

"No problem." Alphonse's power didn't come from magic, so he agreed without hesitation.

"Do I need to participate too?" Mia suddenly asked.

"My father looks down on females. If you, Mia, participate, it will only cause you more trouble. If I could, I wouldn't have asked Alphonse for help first," Leo replied.

The next day, Alphonse was woken up from his sleep.

Leo has prepared breakfast.

She doesn't brush her teeth, but she doesn't have bad breath either, and her teeth are quite white. When she rinses her mouth, she just chews mint leaves raw and then swallows them.

It does manage to remove odors.

Mahaya used to do the same thing, but after arriving in the Coldwind Territory, she also got used to using a small brush dipped in salt to brush her teeth.

Mia is naturally fond of cleanliness, and she carries all her toiletries with her, storing them in her spatial ring.

Breakfast consisted of milk with pancakes made from minced meat mixed with some kind of plant, which smelled strongly of fresh grass.

It smells delicious, but it doesn't taste very good; it's just salty.

Before they had even finished breakfast, they heard the booming sound of war drums outside. (End of Chapter)
