Chapter 93 Alchemist

Alphonse encountered the report-bearing citizens on his way, so he decided to change course and come over.

I was also curious to see why Count Auster's son had come all this way.

Unexpectedly, the chubby Hilde squatted in front of the heated brick bed, touching it left and right, looking at it with an air of curiosity, as if he had never seen anything like it before.

Only then did he speak up to ask questions.

Upon hearing the voices, Hilde turned around, placed one hand on her chest, and bowed slightly as a form of greeting.

Although he was the eldest son of Count Auster, he had not yet inherited the title, so etiquette was still required.

"Good day, Baron Tartarus." Hilde grinned. "I was just curious. It was definitely the right decision to come to Coldwind Territory. At first, my father said you also liked to study novel things, and I didn't quite believe it, but now I do."

Do you also enjoy research?

Alphonse was somewhat taken aback. Count Auster had mentioned this before, but Alphonse had only taken it as a polite remark.

I didn't expect it to be true.

I met Hilde once at the dinner party in Faerûn, and at the time I only thought he was aloof and unsociable, but now it seems that's not the case at all.

"Come out. You don't need this heated kang bed. Don't disturb my people's visit."

"Alright." Hilde nodded, glancing at Midio beside her. "And this is?"

Although Midio wasn't wearing a magic robe, the staff he was holding still caught his attention.

"My magical advisor, Medio Cinbio," Alphonse replied casually.

Midio immediately puffed out his chest, widened his eyes, and looked like he was very powerful, almost as if the word "awesome" was written on his forehead.

Hilde did not look down on him because of his young age, and nodded and smiled at Midio.

Having magical talent makes one a rare talent.

To be able to serve as Alphonse's magic advisor, one must have some connections.

As Hilde followed Alphonse out of the house, she asked, "Excuse me, what's the deal with that cement?"

Alphonse didn't bother to explain in detail, "It's a building material made from monster excrement."

He thought mentioning monster feces would disgust Hilde and stop her from asking, but Hilde didn't seem to care at all. Instead, she muttered to herself, "Monster feces can be made into something like a stone slab?"

As she spoke, she pointed to the people repairing the road in the distance, "Are they also using cement to build a road over there?"

"Yes." Alphonse nodded.

The road in front of the castle has been repaired and is now being paved outwards onto the streets.

However, to facilitate the travel of the residents, only one side was dug up.

Among the civilians involved in the construction, some were mixing gravel and cement, others were smoothing the paved cement road surface, and still others were carrying buckets of water to sprinkle water on the completed road surface, which had been covered with straw.

Alphonse sent soldiers to supervise the area and erected wooden signs that read "Do Not Step On" to prevent people from walking on and damaging the area.

Hilde really wanted to go and see what was going on, but then she remembered something else and immediately called out, "Poseidon, come here!"

The fat-headed, big-eared Poseidon immediately scurried forward.

"You know what to do?" Hilde gave the order again.

Ignoring the many civilians watching, Poseidon immediately knelt before Alphonse, prostrating himself with his large head pressed against the ground, and said in a trembling voice, "Baron Tartarus, I offended you when I came here last time. Please forgive my sins. I am willing to accept any punishment!"

Alphonse guessed that Hilde brought Poseidon over to make him apologize.

But he didn't want to argue with such a nobody anymore. When he dueled with Count Mujik, Count Auster did speak up for him.

"Alright, let's leave it at that. I don't want to see you in Coldwind Territory again."

Poseidon looked up in surprise. "Thank you for your generosity!"

Alphonse added, "I'll bring back the gold coins I owe you later."

It is only right to pay back debts, and in any case, Count Auster has already promised to waive the interest.

Poseidon paused for a moment, then looked at Hilde nervously.

Count Auster had not given him any instructions to collect the debt.

"I'm not here to collect debts. I'm just here to pay a visit. I don't care about my father's affairs. You can talk to him about that." Hilde quickly shifted the blame.

Alphonse didn't bother with his polite refusals. "Alright then, you can go sit in my castle for a while. I need to go to the blacksmith's shop. I'll be right back. If you want to look around, that's fine too."

Hilde's desire to check on the cement was written all over her face, so we let her have her way.

They didn't even explain to him what kind of monster it was. If he could identify the excrement of gold-eating ants just by looking at the fired cement, then he really deserves a thumbs up. He's got real skills!

"What are you going to the blacksmith for? To forge weapons or armor? You don't need to go there yourself for something like that, do you?" Hilde asked curiously.

"No, I just want the blacksmith to forge a kettle for me, but this kettle is a bit special. I'd better go over and explain it to them carefully, or they might make a mistake." Alphonse didn't feel there was anything to hide and answered casually.

"A special kettle?" Hilde immediately became interested. "Is it also for research? If it's an ordinary item, I can help you so you don't have to wait for the blacksmith to slowly forge it."

Alphonston was surprised; Hilde looked unremarkable, yet she possessed such abilities.

He doesn't seem like the type to be a blacksmith, does he?

Midio tugged at Alphonse's sleeve. "This chubby brother should be able to help. I sensed magical energy emanating from him; he's a little bit stronger than me."

Midio didn't hide his words from Hilde, who turned serious and said to Midio, "Calling me brother is fine, but don't add 'fat' before it. I'm actually fine, just a little chubby, not that obviously fat."

After saying that, he kicked Poseidon, "You fatso, get up and get out of the way!"

Poseidon immediately rolled away, scrambling to the side before daring to stand up, still managing to put on a forced smile.

Alphonse was a little puzzled. Hilde treated Plancy's father quite well, but she didn't seem to like Posek as much.

The difference in attitude is obvious.

Never mind, this is his family matter.

I don't know if he was putting on an act for himself.

I can't project my spiritual senses outwards yet; my sensory abilities are really not as good as Midio's.

"Are you a magician?"

Before Hilde could speak, Midio blurted out, "This brother probably isn't a magician; he's not carrying a staff. I guess he's an alchemist."

"Your eye is pretty good." Hilde grinned. "I am indeed an alchemist, but my rank isn't high, only second-tier. I can still do simple metal shaping."
