Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!

Chapter 182 The Daring Mary

Let's turn our attention back to Mary.

She was wearing a slightly revealing light purple wizard's robe, the neckline of which seemed to be lower than normal wizard's robes, and her face showed just the right amount of surprise and a hint of "delicate" sorrow.

Hmm... purple does have a certain charm.

"Mary." Lynn nodded with interest, waiting for her to reveal her purpose.

Mary took a few steps closer, her gaze quickly sweeping over the imposing Megatron before settling on Lynn, a pitiful expression on her face:

"Senior Lynn, it's been so long! Have you forgotten about us 'fellow townsmen'?"

Lynn smiled faintly.

"I've been busy cultivating lately and haven't slacked off at all. What? You didn't stop me just to catch up with me, did you?"

Seeing that Lynn showed no interest in reminiscing, Mary quickly revealed her purpose.

"Senior Lynn, during my last mission, I stumbled upon a hidden ancient wizard's ruins. There might be valuable heirlooms or resources inside, but I really don't dare to venture in alone..."

"You're very powerful, could you help me? Those ruins guards are too strong. We can explore together and split the spoils equally, what do you say?"

Her voice was seductive, but her eyes were subtly observing Lynn's reaction.

The ancient wizarding ruins were obviously fabricated; their main purpose was to lure Lynn into their "hunting" trap.

This trick never fails; it always successfully sends teammates to the top lane.

However, Mary still felt a little uneasy facing Lynn's aloof personality.

Ancient shamanic relics?

Lynn sneered inwardly.

With his current nearly 500 points of mental strength, combined with his qualitatively transformed soul perception, his sensitivity to emotional fluctuations has reached an alarming level.

As Mary spoke, the subtle fluctuations in her soul carried a calculated malice that she tried desperately to conceal, which was as clear in his "eyes" as a torch in the dark.

She is lying, and she certainly has ulterior motives.

Even without this perception ability, Mary's performance was still rather clumsy.

I really don't know how she's lived so long.

Lynn's expression remained unchanged, but his tone gradually turned cold.

"Oh? Remains?"

He spoke slowly, his voice revealing neither joy nor anger.

Mary felt a chill run down her spine, sensing something was amiss, but she remained confident in her "methods".

Her smile became even more alluring, and her right arm unconsciously tucked back, causing her wide wizard robe to suddenly slip down, revealing a small portion of her snow-white shoulder and a faintly visible curve.

What a cunning old man...

That seductive tactic is truly masterful!

Lynn silently gave Mary a thumbs up; that was a really good tactic.

But Mary's schemes weren't over yet.

An extremely subtle and alluring mental fluctuation silently coiled around Lynn, trying to arouse his desire.

This was her trump card, developed by combining her own talent with certain unorthodox witchcraft techniques, and it never failed.

However, the fluctuation vanished silently the moment it touched the invisible spiritual field surrounding Lynn, without even causing a ripple.

This little trick couldn't even break through the mental energy that Lynn unconsciously emitted.

Lynn never pointed it out, but watching her clumsy performance, a smile of amusement suddenly appeared on her lips.

This stupid woman actually dared to set her sights on him and even tried to use bewitching magic to influence his consciousness.

That would be tantamount to taking direct action against him, and there would be no need to be polite anymore.

"Mary," Lynn suddenly spoke, her voice as calm as if she were chatting casually, "Do you know the difference between superior and inferior talent?"

Mary's charming smile froze slightly, and she forced a smile, saying, "You flatter me, sir. I've spent two years in the academy, so naturally I know everything perfectly well."

"Your talent is as dazzling as the sun in the sky, while my talent is as weak as a bedbug in a stinking ditch."

"My lord, you are destined to reach the pinnacle of wizardry, becoming a figure revered by all, while I..."

Mary kept belittling herself and praising Lynn, but her unease grew stronger.

She didn't understand why Lynn would suddenly ask about talent.

"Oh, good to know." Lynn nodded, leaned forward slightly, and stared at Mary with a gaze as cold as a blade.

"Then do you know what the difference is between us now?"

"Difference...?" Mary instinctively took a half step back, her voice trembling.

"Didn't I just say that you... are like the dazzling sun in the sky..."

"No, no, no..." Lynn shook his head repeatedly.

"The difference is..." His tone suddenly turned icy.

"I am a fully-fledged wizard! And you are nothing but a second-class apprentice who dared to try and bewitch a fully-fledged wizard, audacious and courting death."

"A formal wizard?! No...impossible!"

Upon hearing the term "formal wizard," Mary reacted like a stressed wildcat, her face turning deathly pale and her voice becoming distorted.

She finally understood what that vague unease in her heart was all about.

She never truly understood Lynn, never realized how terrifying he was!

Mary suppressed her fear, forced a seductive smile, and her eyes glistened with tears as she made a final, desperate attempt to seduce him.

"Lord Lynn... I admit, I used bewitching magic, but I meant no harm! I just... I just admire you so much!"

"From the first day we met in Black Swamp Castle, your radiance has captivated me. I've trained relentlessly, all because I want to stand beside you..."

"All I've done is... I just want you to look at me more, to change your opinion of me, to give me a chance to get closer to you, to truly stand by your side..."

Her voice grew increasingly mournful and pitiful, and coupled with her delicate, tear-streaked face, it was enough to soften the heart of any man who knew nothing about her.

"Admiration? Opportunity?" Upon hearing this, Lynn's lips slowly curled into a cold smile, a smile devoid of any warmth, only filled with deep sarcasm.

"Mary, I've given you countless chances." His voice was calm, yet it struck Mary's heart like a hammer blow.

"From the moment we met at the Nightingale Pavilion, your fate was changed by me. If it weren't for the three gold coins I gave you, you would never have been able to step into the city lord's mansion."

"If it weren't for my sake, you wouldn't even be qualified to take the talent test."

"But you... have never shown a shred of gratitude; instead, you've been scheming at every turn..."

Lynn shook his head, the last trace of complex emotion in his eyes completely dissipating, leaving only an indifference as if looking down on ants.

"I can understand everything you did at the academy. After all, even small people have their own rules for survival."

"But you...you shouldn't have hit me..."

"I gave you a chance, but unfortunately you weren't good enough!"
