Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 242 Morpheus's Laboratory
After dealing with the Balrog, Lynn turned his attention to the demon minions around him.
The Balrog was quite perceptive; seeing that Lynn was paying attention to them, it immediately let out a roar.
"You little brats, get over here! Come and pay homage to the great king!"
Upon hearing this, the demon minions immediately swarmed over.
A massive number of fire-attribute demons gathered together, causing the temperature in the entire area to rise sharply.
Lynn didn't feel any discomfort. He waved his hand and continuously struck down the Starbound Heart, then put them all into the Undead Ring.
If I ever have the chance to go to the front lines against the Abyss, I might even be able to stage a showdown between demons.
Unfortunately, these demons are like a drop of water in the ocean on a battlefield of that level, unable to cause much of a stir.
After clearing the battlefield, Lynn did not return the way he came, but continued deeper into the rotten abyss along this lava zone.
Over the next few days, he explored westward along the edge of the Burning Forest.
The landscape here is even more desolate than the outer edge of the abyss.
Thick rivers of lava flowed across the ground, and the air was thick with the pungent smell of sulfur and decay.
Occasionally, a few twisted black plants can be seen sprouting from the cracks in the rocks, with dark red corrosive liquid dripping from their leaves.
On the first day, he encountered a level 4 Lava Troll on the banks of a lava river.
This thing was as big as a small mountain, covered in a cracked lava shell, and dragged a giant club made from a single piece of obsidian.
It does resemble the Stone Golem in some ways, but the Stone Golem's true form is a whole Titan skeleton, making its potential much higher.
Sensing the presence of Megatron, Lynn's subordinate, it swung its club and smashed him without a word.
Two breaths later, the battle ended.
Stone Man #2 joins the team.
The next day, he found two level 4 [Abyssal Lurkers] in an abandoned demon's lair.
This demon resembles an enlarged lizard, but its skin can change color to blend in with its surroundings, giving it exceptional camouflage capabilities.
They lie in the crevices of the rocks at the top of their nests, waiting for Lynn to pass by before suddenly swooping down and being subdued on the spot.
On the third day, he tamed another [Pain Weaver].
But this one is stronger than the one we captured before, reaching the peak of level 4. It is also larger in size, and has more eyes at the ends of its tentacles.
Day 4, Day 5...
Lynn continued westward, acquiring several more level 4 demonic creatures along the way—the leader of the Ash Bat swarm, the Molten Core Spider Queen, and the Scorched Serpent King...
But the aura of level 5 was never sensed again.
On the evening of the sixth day, he stood on the edge of a bottomless chasm, gazing at the darkening sky in the distance, and frowned slightly.
The Balrog roared behind him, conveying a vague message.
This area was once the territory of a level 6 Nightmare-level Abyss Lord. That lord disappeared for unknown reasons a hundred years ago, and the resources within the territory were divided up by surrounding forces.
The Balrogs are the strongest of them, occupying the fertile land of the Burning Forest. The other Cataclysmic forces were either taken away by their former lords or killed in the struggle.
"So you're the only one left in this area with a Cataclysmic level?" Lynn turned to look at the Flame Demon.
The Flame Demon nodded its enormous head.
Lynn remained silent for a moment, then gave up on pressing the matter.
He turned around and looked back in the direction he had come from.
This journey into the rotten abyss has yielded abundant rewards.
Not counting the undead of Morpheus that were captured, this trip yielded a level 5 Balrog, nearly thirty level 4 Balrogs, and countless cannon fodder below level 3.
These would be worth a lot of magic stones if sold.
Seeing that it was almost time and that the return journey would take several more days, Lynn changed direction and headed back to the academy.
The journey was smooth, but the Netherworld was becoming increasingly crowded.
After returning to the Bone Spire, Lynn did not go back to the laboratory, but instead quietly sneaked into the area where Morpheus's laboratory was located.
This old guy has been living a carefree life for so many years, he must have accumulated a lot of good stuff, we must confiscate his house!
Upon reaching the laboratory entrance, he was blocked by two tightly closed bone doors, the doors engraved with densely packed soul-binding runes.
Lynn stopped at the corner of the laboratory but did not approach.
He chose a shady corner, had Kayn keep watch in the shadows, and then closed his eyes and focused his mind, beginning to read Morpheus's soul memories and examine the laboratory section.
After killing Morpheus in the Rotten Abyss, he immediately extracted and sealed the fragments of Morpheus's soul.
At this moment, these fragments, like shattered film reels, played slowly in his sea of consciousness.
The visuals are chaotic and the emotions are distorted, but the parts about the laboratory gradually become clear.
Because Morpheus needs to go out, his laboratory has activated the highest level of restrictions.
At the heart of the restriction is a three-layered, nested soul lock, with Morpheus's own soul fluctuations serving as the key.
The first layer of the lock requires a specific frequency of mental energy impact, while the second layer requires inputting a "code" known only to Morpheus.
That coded message consisted of a few characters he extracted from his soul research project.
The third layer requires a drop of Morpheus's own blood to verify the identity of body and soul.
Lynn opened his eyes.
Although he had Morpheus's body, Morpheus had been dead for a long time, and his blood probably wouldn't be effective anymore.
But he possesses fragments of Morpheus's soul, fully read memories, and [analysis].
[Analysis] Activate!
For half a day, Lynn remained hidden in the shadows, allowing the analysis to slowly penetrate and record the energy fluctuations and operational patterns of the restriction.
As the "vascular light strip" in the sky gradually dimmed, he finally deduced a method to bypass the three layers of restrictions, directly using Morpheus's soul fluctuations to simulate the illusion of "legal entry".
He came to the bone gate and placed his hand on the door.
Mental energy oscillates at a specific frequency.
Silently recite the extracted characters in your mind.
A drop of blood was forced from the fingertip.
Of course, this wasn't Morpheus's blood, but rather a drop of ordinary blood temporarily enveloped in the energy of a fragment of his soul, simulating the energy characteristics of "Morpheus's blood."
The runes on the door flashed three times, and it slowly opened inward without making a sound.
Lynn slipped inside, and the door closed silently behind him.
The laboratory was more spacious than he had expected.
At the center was a massive soul furnace, its pale blue light shining through the crystal walls, reflecting the churning soul mist within.
Hundreds of crystal bottles containing sealed souls are neatly stacked on the shelf against the wall. Each bottle is labeled with the origin, strength, and characteristics of the soul.
In the corner were boxes of rare materials—Styx Crystals, Soul Dust Essence, and Void Dust.
There were even a few fragments of the Holy Soul that emitted a faint golden light. These were rare items that could only be formed by priests who had fallen in the Holy Light environment.
Morpheus originally intended to use these [Holy Soul Fragments] to create an undead creature radiating holy light.
Now it seems there's no chance.
