Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 260 Horn, who loves his job
After flying for about half an hourglass, Lynn landed three miles outside Northworld City.
He didn't fly directly into the city; that would be too conspicuous. He just wanted to leave quietly and didn't want to deal with anyone anymore.
Lynn folded his skeletal wings and walked into the city.
Beiming City remained as bustling as ever, with wide streets, numerous shops, and throngs of pedestrians.
Although life is tough for ordinary people here, Lord Roland is a wizard after all, and he won't exploit people like some noble lords.
Of course, they wouldn't concern themselves too much about whether they lived or died.
Over the years, Lynn has visited Beiming City a few times to relax, and he often frequents a few food stalls, where the food is quite delicious.
Hmm... the taste of everyday life.
Lynn mingled in the crowd and headed north, heading straight towards the teleportation array.
As you walk along the main road, each step you take covers a great distance, yet the people around you seem oblivious.
Near the teleportation array, a figure was pacing back and forth.
The man was dressed in a neat gray deacon's robe, his hair was combed meticulously, and he kept looking up, appearing restless.
Lynn paused slightly, a slight smile playing on her lips.
Horn.
That kid's clever.
Sion just arrived yesterday, and Horn is guarding the teleportation array, so he must have already seen him.
With his shrewdness, it wasn't hard to deduce that Lynn would be returning to school in the next couple of days.
That's why I'm waiting here early in the morning, not even going back to that little building where I used to "burn incense, sip tea, listen to the rain, and watch the clouds."
Lynn continued walking forward.
Horn had sharp eyes; his eyes lit up the moment he spotted the figure appearing at the alley entrance.
He rushed forward, his smile perfectly balanced – respectful but not obsequious, enthusiastic but not exaggerated.
"Lord Lynn!" he bowed.
"You've finally arrived! I've been waiting here since yesterday, just waiting for you to come back!"
Lynn nodded: "Deacon Horn is very kind."
Horn waved his hands repeatedly, "Of course, of course! This way, sir. The teleportation array has been checked and is ready to be activated at any time!"
He led Lynn toward the teleportation array, his steps light and quick, almost as if he were jogging.
Lynn followed behind him, her gaze sweeping over his neatly dressed robes, amusement creeping into her heart.
This kid, used to living a life of burning incense and sipping tea in his own little building, enjoying worldly riches, has suddenly had his rhythm disrupted by my return trip. I bet he'll be restless and unable to eat or sleep these next couple of days.
Once he gets rid of himself, he can return to that leisurely life.
However, to be fair, I have frequently traveled between the academy and the mine over the past ten years, and Horn has always been in charge of teleporting me.
Although this kid is lazy, he's reliable when it comes to getting things done and has never made a mistake.
It seems he truly "loves" this job, this easy and lucrative position.
When the two arrived at the destination, the teleportation array was ready, the magic stone was installed, and the runes were flickering slightly, just waiting to be activated.
"Sir, please."
Horn respectfully led Lynn to the center of the teleportation array, then quickly walked to the control panel and began adjusting the parameters.
Lynn stood with his hands behind his back, waiting quietly.
Soon, the teleportation array was activated, and space began to fluctuate.
Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from outside the hall.
"Lord Lynn! Lord Lynn, please wait!"
Lynn frowned slightly and turned to look.
Lord Roland is flying over at top speed.
"Lord Lynn!" Roland rushed up to him and bowed.
"I heard you're returning to school today, so I've come to see you off! Please stay a moment longer; I've prepared some small gifts and would like to invite you to my home for a chat..."
Before Lynn could speak, Horn preemptively explained:
"Lord City Lord, the teleportation array has been activated and is currently receiving energy. If we stop now..."
Before he could finish speaking, the runes on the teleportation array suddenly lit up, and a white light enveloped Lynn.
Roland's expression changed as he watched Lynn's figure gradually blur in the white light.
Lynn nodded slightly to him as a farewell.
The next moment, a flash of white light appeared, and the teleportation array was empty.
Roland stood there, stunned, speechless for a long time.
He slowly turned his head and looked at Horn, his gaze unfriendly.
"Deacon Horn." His voice was deep, yet it made Horn tremble involuntarily.
"Couldn't you have kept Lord Lynn a little longer? I rushed here in such a hurry, I haven't even had a chance to say a word!"
Horn shrank back, looking aggrieved.
"My lord, it's not that I don't want to keep him, it's just that Lord Lynn... he's so eager to return to school!"
"The moment we met, you urged me to activate the teleportation array. How could I dare disobey the orders of a formal wizard?"
"Look, it just finished charging, and the adults immediately got on top. The little one couldn't stop them even if they wanted to..."
Roland opened his mouth, but finally sighed helplessly.
"Never mind, never mind." He waved his hand. "It's also my fault for being too slow."
He turned and walked towards the city lord's mansion.
Horn watched him leave before letting out a sigh of relief and wiping away non-existent cold sweat from his forehead.
"Finally gone," he murmured, a relieved smile on his face.
Turning to look at the teleportation array that had returned to calm, he felt secretly relieved.
After seeing this gentleman off, I can return to my small building and continue to enjoy tea, incense, and life.
"The good days are back."
He hummed a little tune as he slowly walked towards his little house.
Upstairs, two beautiful women had already prepared tea and snacks, and sat by the window, giving him a charming smile.
...
Bone Spire, Teleportation Zone.
A flash of white light, and Lynn's figure appeared in the center of the teleportation array.
A familiar aura of negativity washed over me, and the perpetually dark sky of the Eternal Night Graveyard came into view.
He took a deep breath, savoring the long-lost "taste of home," and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
It's been ten years.
He's finally back.
As he stepped off the teleportation array, he glanced around.
The apprentice on duty still looked lazy and listless. When he saw him come out, he quickly bowed and greeted him.
Lynn ignored him and strode into the academy, heading straight for his mentor Gregor's laboratory.
This was a habit he had developed over the years; returning to Gregor's lab was like coming home.
Pushing open that familiar bone door, Gregor, unusually, wasn't busy and was gazing at the sky outside the skylight, seemingly waiting for something.
"Mentor," Lynn said.
Gregor wasn't surprised by Lynn's return, casually asking, "You're back? Is the handover at the mine complete?"
"It's over." Lynn took a few steps closer and stood next to Gregor, looking at his familiar face.
Gregor then glanced back at Lynn, and that one glance nearly made his jaw drop.
"The Third Ring Road?" His voice sounded incredulous.
Lynn nodded, without making a conscious effort to conceal his aura.
That vast fluctuation of spiritual power was displayed before Gregor without reservation.
Gregor remained silent.
How old is this kid again?
Their age isn't even a fraction of what I've cultivated, is it?
How can I get to the Third Ring Road?
In two more years, will I also have to call him "adult"?
