Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 268 Thunderbird
The bone eagle carried Lynn all the way north.
After leaving Thunderstone, the land below gradually transitioned from plains to hills, and then from hills to rolling foothills.
An hour later, a dark mountain range appeared on the distant horizon—the Storm Mountains.
The bone eagle continued forward, becoming much more cautious as it took flight.
This is a paradise for Warcraft players, and it could be attacked at any time.
As we approached the mountains, the sky began to darken.
Dark clouds loomed over the mountain peaks, with flashes of lightning occasionally breaking through the clouds, accompanied by the rumble of deep thunder.
Lynn patted the bone eagle's neck, signaling it to lower its altitude.
Once inside the mountain range, the environment changed noticeably.
The wind howled through the valley, whipping up pebbles and dry branches that crackled against the skeleton of the bone eagle.
The air was filled with the rich aura of lightning and wind elements, and with each breath, one could feel a subtle electric current pricking the nasal cavity.
Ordinary wild animals simply cannot survive for long.
Lynn opened his senses to capture the presence of living beings around him.
There are quite a few monsters inside.
Several wind lizards were hiding in the cracks in the mountain wall, but they immediately shrank into the depths after sensing the presence of the bone eagle.
There were signs of thunder wolves in a cave in the distance, but it was empty now, presumably because they were out hunting.
On a higher mountain peak, several larger creatures were moving between the cliff faces.
That's a Thunderhorn sheep, a common herbivore in the Storm Mountains, known for its delicious meat and fur that protects against lightning.
They sensed the catastrophic pressure emanating from the bone eagle and scrambled to find places to hide.
Some crawled into rock crevices, some lay on the ground too afraid to move, and some remained motionless, pretending to be rocks.
Lynn ignored them; these creatures were too weak, and their materials wouldn't fetch much money. Killing them would only be a waste of time. So he commanded the bone eagle to continue upwards.
After passing through a layer of lightning clouds, the view suddenly opened up.
Above were even higher mountain peaks, surrounded by clouds of all sizes, with electric currents crisscrossing between them, and every now and then a bolt of lightning would strike one of the mountain peaks.
The air thinned, the temperature plummeted, and tiny ice crystals began to condense on the skeleton of the bone eagle.
Just then, a sharp cry came from above.
"Gah—!"
Lynn looked up.
About two miles ahead, on the highest peak, a huge nest is embedded between the cliffs.
The nest is built with thick branches and vines and has a diameter of more than ten meters.
At the edge of the nest, a giant blue-green bird stared at them, its wings half-spread, the feathers on its neck standing on end, emitting a threatening cry.
Thunderbird.
Level 5 (Beginner).
This thunderbird is not an undead creature, but a normal magical beast, possessing biological instincts and intelligence.
Seeing that the bone eagle did not stop, the thunderbird cried out several more times, its voice becoming even sharper and more piercing.
It spread its wings, leaped from the edge of the nest, circled twice in the air, and flew towards Lynn.
It seems they wanted to scare away the bone eagle.
After all, the bone eagle is of the same level as it, so not only would it not have a good chance of winning the battle, but the bone eagle also has no flesh on its body, so even if it wins, it will not get any spoils.
But its plan failed. The bone eagle did not stop at all and charged straight at it. More importantly, there was a human on the bone eagle that it could not see through!
The Thunderbird suddenly turned around and let out a sharp, mournful cry towards its nest.
Hearing the warning from its companion, five more ptarmigans flew out of the nest.
Four are at the initial level 5, and one is slightly larger with an aura that reaches the intermediate level 5.
They lined up in a fan shape, blocking Lynn's path, and simultaneously emitted warning cries, their bodies crackling with electricity.
The level 5 mid-tier Thunderbird flew forward for a while, stopping when it was about 500 meters away from Lynn.
It stared at Lynn, a distinctly human glint in its eyes, as if scrutinizing something.
A moment later, it spoke.
It doesn't speak, but rather emits a series of rhythmic calls.
The sound was different from a normal warning; it seemed to be conveying some kind of message.
Lynn couldn't understand the Thunderbirds' language, but he could sense their meaning—they were trying to dissuade him from going.
"This...is...my...territory...leave..."
The thunderbirds formed a circle, chirping incessantly, trying to intimidate him with their numbers and sheer force.
Lynn did not move.
He sat on the back of the bone eagle, his gaze sweeping over the six thunderbirds.
Five level 5 beginners and one level 5 intermediate.
If it were an ordinary second-circle wizard, they would indeed be scared off, but unfortunately they encountered him.
The ceiling of third-ring wizards!
Seeing that Lynn did not move.
Six thunderbirds circled in the air, emitting sharp cries, preparing to resort to force if gentle persuasion failed.
The level 5 mid-tier leader was at the forefront, its wings spreading out to create a gust of wind, its body crackling with lightning, and each flap of its wings sending tiny arcs of electricity spreading outwards.
This was Lynn's first time fighting monsters, and he was prepared to personally test the strength of these Thunderbirds.
Perfect timing! I've learned so much witchcraft, but I never have a chance to practice it. This is the perfect opportunity to hone my skills.
Thinking of this, Lynn jumped off the bone eagle's back, levitated in mid-air, and the bone eagle retracted.
The Thunderbird leader was slightly taken aback, wondering what Lynn was up to.
It let out a sharp cry, and all five thunderbirds sprang into action at the same time.
They flanked from three directions, their wings flapping to create a whirlwind filled with countless tiny electric arcs.
Lynn raised his right hand.
The power of the earth's veins surged from the mountain below, condensing into a stone wall half a meter thick in front of him.
The three thunderbirds simultaneously unleashed lightning.
Three bolts of lightning, as thick as water buckets, struck the stone wall, scattering rubble everywhere.
Three large craters were blasted into the surface of the stone wall, and cracks spread outwards, but the wall did not break.
Since it was in the air, the stone wall lacked a continuous source of earth vein power, so its strength was limited.
If it were on the ground, the stone wall's defensive capabilities would be greatly enhanced, and its energy would continuously regenerate, making it very difficult for these thunderbirds to break through.
Lynn made a fist with his left hand, and death energy transformed into more than a dozen black chains that shot out from behind him.
Two thunderbirds that were flanking from the side had their wings entangled in chains and were struggling desperately.
The chains tightened, and death energy corroded their feathers and skin, emitting bluish-black smoke.
This death energy cannot exert its full power in the Bone Spire and its subordinate planes, as the undead have extremely high resistance to it.
However, in the main world, it is now the nemesis of life.
The Thunderbird leader roared and flapped its wings, sending a bolt of lightning, twice as thick as before, hurtling straight toward Lynn's face.
Lynn did not dodge.
He raised his left hand, and spatial power gathered in his palm.
The lightning struck half a meter in front of him and then suddenly disappeared.
It wasn't blocked, but rather swallowed by a temporary spatial rift and annihilated in another dimension.
The Thunderbird leader was stunned.
Lynn released his right hand, and the stone wall collapsed with a crash.
