Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 377 Wizard Tower
The construction team arrived the next morning.
The leader was a short, stocky middle-aged wizard, a first-ring wizard, wearing a dusty work uniform and holding a roll of blueprints.
He stood beside the seventh beacon tower, looking left and right, then flipping through the blueprints for a while before turning to look at Lynn.
"My lord, where would you like to build your wizard tower?"
Lynn pointed to an open space next to the beacon tower.
"Right here."
The short, stocky wizard walked over, stomped his foot on the ground, and then squatted down to touch the stone with his hand.
"The foundation is fine, we can build here. What are your requirements, sir? Elemental preference? Functional preference? Defense level?"
"I don't have any particular inclination," Lynn said.
"But I need a lookout tower with a good view, the higher the better, so I can observe the enemy situation."
The short, stocky wizard made a few notes on the drawing.
"The lookout tower needs to be high up for a good view, no problem. Anything else?"
"That's all."
The short, stocky wizard looked up at Lynn, as if to confirm whether he was joking.
When wizards build towers, they want to cram in every possible function.
A meditation room, an alchemy room, a library, a necromancy incubation room, a defensive magic circle, and a teleportation circle—none of them can be missing.
This one, on the other hand, only needs one lookout tower.
"Sir, don't you need a meditation room?"
"unnecessary."
"No alchemy room needed?"
"unnecessary."
"What about defensive formations? We should at least set up several layers, just in case the holy light creatures attack..."
"As long as the observation tower is high enough," Lynn interrupted him.
I won't be staying here for more than two years, so having all that miscellaneous stuff would be a waste, as it all requires extra magic stones.
The short, stocky wizard opened his mouth, but swallowed the rest of his words.
Looks like there's not much profit to be made this time.
However, he's a third-ring Grand Wizard, so whatever he says goes.
He made a few more notes on the blueprints, then turned and waved to the construction team.
"start!"
The construction team got busy.
The short, stocky wizard drew rune arrays on the ground, the workers unloaded the materials, and the wizards carved runes on the stones.
The clanging sounds echoed on the city wall. Lynn stood by and watched without interfering.
This construction team was no ordinary team; each member possessed unique skills, enabling them to construct buildings at an extremely fast pace.
If it weren't for the need to inscribe runes and magic arrays, a tall tower could probably be erected in half a day.
On the seventh day, the Wizard Tower was completed.
The tower is not tall, only five stories high, but the watchtower is very tall, even taller than the beacon towers on the city wall.
The tower is black with defensive runes engraved on its surface, and the top of the tower is a circular platform with an extremely wide field of vision.
Lynn walked to the top of the tower, stood by the railing, and looked at the golden pillar of light in the distance.
It's very close, much closer than the second line of defense.
The runes on the pillar of light were clearly visible, like countless golden snakes crawling on the pillar.
He squinted, and the [Analysis] was activated.
...
The next day, Lao Luo, the logistics manager, arrived.
Old Luo was a wizard in his fifties, at the peak of the second ring, bald, wearing thick glasses, and carrying a large box.
He placed the box at the tower entrance, opened it, and found various supplies neatly stacked inside.
Materials, tools, equipment, magic stones, potions, rune paper, blank scrolls, etc.
"Sir, these are your supplies for this month." Old Luo took out a list from his pocket and handed it to Lynn.
"Please check what's missing and I'll get it next time."
Lynn took the list and glanced at it. "Nothing is missing."
Luo took out another spatial bag from his pocket and handed it over.
"These are the materials you asked me to buy, and the observation equipment you requested. I ordered it from the academy, and it just arrived."
Lynn took the spatial bag, probed it with his spiritual power, counted the items, then put the spatial bag away, counted out the magic stones from his ring, and handed them to Lao Luo.
After accepting the gift, Lao Luo bowed and then turned to leave.
Lynn walked up to the observation platform, took out the observation equipment from his spatial bag, and began to assemble it.
The device was custom-made for him: an adjustable stand with a crystal lens mounted on it, and an array of recording runes connected to the back of the lens.
When the lens is aimed at the light beam, the rune array automatically records the shape and changes of the runes on the light beam and then projects them onto a crystal plate.
This way, he wouldn't have to keep staring at the beam of light, lest he attract the attention of the bird-man with an unknown number of wings at the top of the beam.
Lynn fixed the bracket to the railing, adjusted the angle, and aligned the lens with the beam of light.
The crystal panel lit up briefly, and an image of a beam of light appeared on it.
He leaned closer to look, and the patterns of the runes were clearly visible, each stroke and line engraved on the board.
He nodded in satisfaction, pulled up a chair, sat down, and began his observations.
...
The days passed by.
Every day, Lynn would first go to the observation tower to look at the Holy Light runes for a while, and then record them using analysis.
In his spare time, he would take out an angel's corpse from the undead realm and begin refining it.
He transformed the corpse of a six-winged angel into a fallen angel, and the corpse of a four-winged angel into a gray-winged messenger.
Refine them one by one, without rushing or being impatient.
Sometimes I would sit at my desk all day, staring at the crystal panel without moving.
The rules of holy light here are far too vast, more complex than all the rules of the previous worlds combined.
A month later, he created eight more fallen angels, bringing the total to eighteen, in addition to the original ten.
The Graywings were refined to sixty, adding to the original forty-seven, for a total of one hundred and seven.
He retrieved the corpses of the paladins, priests, and holy light behemoths from the undead realm and disposed of them one by one.
First, extract the holy light energy and essence from the body and store them for the divine abomination.
Then throw the corpse into a corner of the necromantic realm, allowing the power of the dead to slowly seep in.
After a while, they will turn into undead on their own.
Not high-ranking undead like angels, but rather dark knights, skeletal behemoths, ghouls, vengeful spirits, and even death knights.
Two months later, he ran out of angel corpses.
Twenty-eight fallen angels, two hundred and seven grey-winged messengers.
Including the original ten fallen angels and forty-seven gray-winged warriors, there are a total of thirty-eight fallen angels and two hundred and fifty-four gray-winged warriors.
The angel legion, numbering nearly three hundred, boasts a more impressive lineup than some Holy Light legions.
Lynn would occasionally stroll through the market.
The market was located below the city wall, in a narrow alley with various stalls on both sides selling supplies, materials, equipment, and general merchandise.
He always manages to find some good stuff every time he goes there.
Sometimes it's a few bottles of angel souls, sometimes it's a few angel corpses, and sometimes it's a few crystals of holy light.
The price is cheaper than the college's, and the quality is decent.
Sometimes they would set up a stall at the market to help other wizards with their questions.
When the wizards heard that he was a third-ringed wizard and that he was skilled at analyzing magical models and rune structures, they came to him with questions.
The energy loops are blocked, the runes are conflicting, or the potion ratios are incorrect.
He could tell the problem at a glance and immediately offer a solution.
The wizards were extremely grateful, leaving behind hundreds to thousands of magic stones each time. Lynn accepted them all, since he had nothing better to do anyway.
Days passed by like this.
As the academy's pioneering army continued to advance into the Holy Light Plane, the first line of defense saw little fighting.
The main force of the Holy Light faction was trapped deeper inside, and fewer and fewer of the infiltrators managed to slip through.
Lynn's daily work consisted of sitting on the observation platform, looking at runes, recording them, and analyzing them.
A year has passed.
Two years have passed...
Lynn could no longer contain himself. He took out the Soul Crystal Plaque from his ring and sent a message to the academy:
"Requesting promotion to Stigmata and requesting to return to the academy."
Then it's time to wait for the college's approval and response.
Three days later, the stone slab finally began to vibrate.
The reply consisted of only one line: "Application received and under review. Please wait."
Lynn put away the stone tablet and continued studying the rules of Holy Light.
A few days later, Orianna sent a message asking Lynn to come over and check on his cultivation progress and understanding of the rules.
This is clearly the college's assessment of his potential promotion.
After the assessment was completed, Oriana let Lynn leave and sent a report back to the Academy about Lynn's situation.
Another month passed, and the stone slab trembled once more.
This reply consisted of only one line:
"Approved. You are authorized to return. Please return on your own after completing the task handover."
Lynn breathed a sigh of relief; at least she could go back.
