Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 436 Arrival in the Imperial City
The bone dragon grabbed the research vessel and flew directly across the Sea of Death.
Black seawater churned below, waves crashing against the rocks and splashing up black foam.
Oil and garbage floated on the sea surface. Several seabirds flew by in the distance, and when they saw the bone dragon, they turned around and ran away in fright.
Having crossed the Sea of Death, the rest was a piece of cake, and soon the coastline came into view.
Before the coastal cities could react, the bone dragon whizzed past, leaving behind a group of terrified goblins.
News of the monster invasion was transmitted to various cities via communicators.
The bone dragon flew across the plain, bending the crops on the ground under the weight of the wind. When the farmers looked up and saw the bone dragon, they dropped their hoes and knelt on the ground.
Some shouted "Supreme God," some shouted "Miracle," some shouted "Monster," and some carried their children and hid inside the house.
The bone dragon flew over the town, and the townspeople ran out to watch.
A child pointed at the bone dragon in the sky and said, "Mom, look, that big bone is flying."
The mother covered the child's mouth and pulled him into the house.
A bone dragon flew over a city.
The soldiers on the city wall saw it and sounded the horn. The city defense officer was also extremely decisive and immediately ordered the magic crystal cannon to be fired.
The cannon was aimed at the bone dragon, and energy condensed in the cannon barrel.
This scene terrified everyone on the research vessel.
It wasn't that they were afraid of being bombarded by the magic crystal cannon, but rather that they were afraid of angering this giant creature and causing it to destroy the entire city.
The captain hurriedly got up from the deck, rushed to the bridge, and grabbed the communicator.
"This is a scientific research vessel! The messenger of the Supreme God is escorting us! Do not attack! Repeat, do not attack!"
The voice of the city defense officer came through the communicator.
"Received. Orders have been given to cease the attack. May the Supreme God protect you."
The light from the cannon went out, and the bone dragon continued flying forward, completely ignoring the little incident below.
When the news reached the capital, it immediately caused a huge uproar.
Emperor Haru urgently summoned all civil and military officials to assemble in the square in front of the palace.
Haru wore a long golden robe, a crown on his head, and held a scepter in his hand, his face full of solemnity.
Behind him stood a row of ministers, dressed in official robes of various colors, heads bowed, waiting silently.
The area was surrounded by guards, their armor gleaming, and their spears standing upright on the ground.
Augustus stood beside his ministers, dressed in a white robe with a silver amulet hanging around his neck.
His expression was calm, but his fingers were clenched tightly inside his sleeve.
The angel legion also hovered above the plaza under his command, their angelic swords gleaming with platinum light.
Dozens of goblins were fiddling with their machines, aiming them at various corners of the Imperial City Square.
Everything here today will be broadcast live to various cities to dispel the panic caused by the appearance of the Bone Dragon.
Soon, the figure of the bone dragon appeared at the edge of the sky.
The bone dragon was getting closer and bigger.
It flew over the city walls, over the towers, and over the square, casting its shadow on the ground and covering the entire square.
The dragon's might swept over us.
The guards turned pale, and some of them felt their legs go weak, but fortunately, they were all professionally trained and did not lose their composure.
Emperor Haru looked up at the bone dragon, a question rising in his mind.
Why would the great and supreme God have a messenger who appears so evil?
The bone dragon placed the boat in the square.
The ship shook when it landed, and the cracks on the deck widened.
Emperor Haru hurriedly walked to the front of the ship and bowed. "Messenger of the gods, welcome to the Goblin Royal City. What do you need...?"
The Bone Dragon ignored Haru, loosened its grip, and flew away.
The wind from the flapping wings lifted the emperor's robes, and the crown on his head was directly flipped to the ground, but Haru dared not show the slightest dissatisfaction on his face.
Imperial power has declined, so what does it matter if the crown falls to the ground?
The ministers sighed inwardly upon seeing this scene.
With the decline of imperial power, the prestige of these ministers also decreased.
However... if one could secure a place in the Supreme Divine Court, life would surely be much more comfortable in the future.
After all, they are the core of the empire's power, the best of the best. If they join the Divine Court, they will surely be valued.
Thinking of this, some ministers became more active, thinking that they must go to the Supreme Divine Court to pray later.
On the research vessel, the captain climbed off the ship and knelt before the emperor.
"Your Majesty, I was ordered to find the cathedral, and I have successfully completed my mission."
The emperor helped the captain to his feet. "You've worked hard. Take a rest first. Someone will speak with you later."
Anli jumped off the boat and stood in the square, curiously looking at everything.
She looked at the surrounding buildings, at the goblins in their robes, and at the enormous palace.
Her eyes shone brightly as she looked at the group of goblins dressed in fine clothes, finding it particularly amusing.
Jim climbed off the boat and stood next to Anri.
"My lord, this is the imperial city. That largest building is the imperial palace, and the person next to you is His Majesty the Emperor."
Anri looked at Emperor Haru, and Haru looked back at her, revealing his most benevolent smile.
"Welcome to the world of goblins, messenger of the supreme god."
Anli gave a subtle smile.
"I'm not some kind of divine messenger, my name is An Li."
Haru paused for a moment, then laughed.
"Lady Anri, please come with me. I have prepared a delicious meal to welcome you back."
Anri obediently followed Haru into the palace, while Augustus, who was on the other side, saw this and his eyes flashed with a sharp light.
The goblins followed behind, some carrying boxes, some holding instruments, and some supporting their wounded companions.
Jim walked at the very back, his notebook open, pen in hand, writing as he went.
"Upon arriving at the capital, they were received by His Majesty the Emperor. The divine messenger, An Li, possessed a noble demeanor and spoke with grace, and was suspected to be a direct descendant of the supreme god."
He glanced up at An Li's retreating figure, then lowered his head and continued writing.
The palace banquet hall was much larger than Anli had imagined.
The dome was very high and covered with murals depicting the scene of the supreme god N'Zoth descending to earth.
A black robe, a blurred face, golden light spilling from the portrait onto the long tables covered with white tablecloths.
The table was covered with plates, bowls, cups, and saucers, some silver and some with gold rims, which glittered under the light.
Anli stood at the doorway, squinting at the glittering things.
Is this a royal palace? Or a cathedral dedicated to the supreme god?
The Queen stood up from her seat and walked over to Anri, who was much taller than her.
The empress wore a deep red long dress with a trailing hem, and the neckline was trimmed with fine gold thread.
Her hair was piled on top of her head, adorned with several gold hairpins.
She smiled, took Anli's hand, her fingers were warm, and her palm was soft.
"Lady Anri, it is our honor to have you as our guest at the palace."
Her voice was very soft and gentle, quite unlike the voice of a typical goblin.
Anli was pulled by the Queen to the main table.
Emperor Haru sat in the main seat, with an empty seat next to him reserved for Anri.
"Lady Anri, please have a seat."
Anli hesitated for a moment, then sat down.
The queen sat on the other side of Haru, while several princes and princesses sat on either side of the long table.
They were dressed in gorgeous clothes, adorned with various jewelry, and wore smiles on their faces, their eyes frequently glancing at Anli.
Putting everything else aside, Anli's resemblance to the Supreme God alone is enough to command their respect.
