Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!

Chapter 450 An Inescapable Fate

Seeing Lynn looking at him like that, the man couldn't help but chuckle.

"There are many branches in the river of fate. In some branches, you died, killed by Morpheus."

"In some branches, you might escape unscathed, but ultimately your journey ends at the Third Ring Road."

"Only in a few branches will you survive, achieve the Stigmata, and ascend to a higher level."

"And the heart of the Starry Sky Beast is the key."

The man's fingers stopped.

"Of all the branches we've observed, only you can lead the wizarding world through this calamity."

Lynn remained silent for a few moments, processing the information.

Lynn didn't entirely believe the branch of the river of fate that this person mentioned.

It's possible that he was killed by Morpheus, but with his talent and cheat codes, if he really managed to escape by sheer luck, how could he possibly stop at the third ring?

Even if he couldn't reach the True Spirit level, he would at least be a Saint Mark. He wasn't like Gregor, stubborn as to spend his whole life obsessively working on the "All Things" Saint Mark. The man, unaware of Lynn's thoughts, continued.

"The second reason is your Myriad Manifestations Mark." The man leaned forward slightly.

"The anti-fatalists have been searching for empirical evidence that fate can be changed."

"We observe fate, intervene in fate, and try to change fate, but we cannot produce conclusive evidence to prove that fate can really be changed."

"Traditionalists say that everything we do is part of the script of fate, and we can't argue with that."

He pointed to Lynn's chest.

"Your Myriad Manifestations Saint Mark is irrefutable proof. The fusion of three thousand rules and the attainment of sainthood in the physical body, from apprentice to saint in less than twenty years, is a miracle!"

"Fate didn't write this script for you; you wrote it entirely yourself. You are the sample we need."

Lynn leaned back in his chair, seemingly unaffected by the second point.

The two factions have been fighting for a long time, and the rebels are using themselves as "guinea pigs" to prove their "way".

Without their testimony, I wouldn't be who I am today. It's no big deal to prove something to them.

"The third reason."

At this point, the man's eyes lit up, and he suddenly became alert.

"The River of Destiny!"

"The core secret of the Star Observatory, the River of Destiny, is not untouchable. Certain special people can enter the River of Destiny and even change the nodes within it."

"You are from another realm, possessing the Myriad Manifestations Sacred Mark and the bloodline of a Starry Sky Beast. You are the only person I have ever seen who possesses all three of these qualities simultaneously!"

He paused for a moment.

"Someday in the future, we will need you to enter the river of destiny and do something that only you can do."

Lynn's fingers paused. "What is it?"

The man shook his head.

"You can't say it now. If you do, it will disturb the river of fate and make destiny unpredictable. Then you won't be able to do it, and it will only make things worse."

Lynn's lips twitched slightly.

He hates being a pawn, hates being controlled by others.

But at least this person was honest, didn't hide anything, and laid out his purpose directly, which gave him peace of mind.

If you don't tell me, I'll pretend I don't know. Whether I'll enter the river of fate in the future is still uncertain.

"I need information about the underworld and the River Styx."

The man took out a silver-white crystal from his pocket, placed it on the table, and pushed it in front of Lynn.

"It's all inside. The coordinates, routes, danger zones, and the territory of the Underworld Lord that you wanted are all clearly marked."

Sure enough, everything was prepared in advance.

Lynn didn't delve into it further, took the crystal and put it into the ring, and asked again.

Where is Lin Chen?

The man leaned back in his chair.

"After he fell into the leak in the River Styx, he was swept away by the undercurrents of the River Styx to the depths of the underworld. I can't say for sure where he is."

"There are too many branches in the river of fate related to him; in some branches he is alive, and in others he is already dead."

He looked at Lynn.

"But your destinies are intertwined. Once you step into the underworld, you will naturally meet him. Fate will bring you together, whether you believe it or not."

Lynn remained silent for a few moments.

Unexpectedly, Lin Chen was hiding so well that even the Star Observatory couldn't pinpoint his location.

However, his main purpose in wanting to find Lin Chen was to obtain the Starry Sky Beast bloodline within him.

The heart of the giant star beast in his body was given to him by these people. Since they could give him a heart, they might have other organs or bloodlines in their possession.

If we can get it, we'll save ourselves the trouble of going to the underworld to find Lin Chen.

"Do you still have any organs or bloodlines from cosmic behemoths here?"

The man shook his head.

"That heart is the only remaining relic of the cosmic behemoth at the Star Observatory. It wasn't originally ours; it was sent by an ancestor of the Star Observatory after a brief return from a spacetime rift."

"He went back in time and gave his heart to us back then, so that we could give it to you in the future."

"That elder only said one sentence: 'Tell him that the heart belongs to that child, not to you.'"

He looked at Lynn.

"We speculate that what the elder meant was that the heart was for your son, not for you; you were merely the one who handed it over."

Lynn raised an eyebrow.

What? So it wasn't for me after all?

They just entrusted it to me for safekeeping? So they're treating me like a "carrier".

Use my body to nourish and strengthen my heart, and then pass it on to that brat Lin Chen? To make that brat a "complete form"?

Are you kidding me?! I'm already showing "fatherly love" by not taking his heart, and you want to take mine too?

Thinking of this, Lynn's eyes suddenly turned cold.

If things really escalate to that point in the future, then don't blame your father for being heartless.

However, the time-space rift this person mentioned, the return to the past, the mysterious ancestors...

He recalled the gray stone bead in his hand, a fragment of the laws of time, which he had also retrieved from a time rift.

Could that old man with the stall be the so-called "senior"?

Perhaps that ancestor traveled back to the past through a time rift, perhaps that heart was something he brought back from the future...

Having no clue what to do, Lynn gave up trying to figure it out.

Since they've already taken all the benefits, they're not going to spend any more of their own money.

If that ancestor said something nice, like that crossing time and space was to save me, we could still remember his good qualities.

But since he says he's just a custodian and it's not for his own use, then there's not much more to say.

Lynn put aside her inner conflict and then made another request.

"Would it be convenient for me to go into the library at the Astronomical Observatory?"

The man shook his head.

"The library is guarded by traditionalists, so I can't let you in. Besides, knowing too much won't do you any good; some knowledge itself can corrupt your soul."

Polluting the soul? It seems the knowledge from the Star Observatory is toxic.

Lynn didn't insist; he stood up to take his leave. "One last question. What's your name?"

The man also stood up.

"My name is Hoshimi, the leader of the Fate Reversal Faction, and an elder of the Star Observatory."

He bowed slightly to Lynn.

"Lord Lynn, may the stars guide your path."

Lynn turned and walked toward the passage.

Hoshimi stood there, watching his retreating figure.

Silvery starlight surged in from all directions, enveloping Lynn's body, and he disappeared into the starlight.

Hoshimi sat back in her chair, leaned against the back, and looked at the swirling stars above her head.

Every star tells its own story.
