Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 532 The Alchemist's Methods
The magic-powered mechs lined up in columns behind the tanks, their bodies appearing and disappearing in the smoke and dust. Occasionally, they would step forward to fire a finishing shot before retreating back into the ranks to continue protecting the troops.
The strength of the magic mechs lies in their mobility; while retaining powerful firepower, their mobility far surpasses that of magic cannons and magic tanks.
Moreover, the magic-powered mech is extremely well-rounded with no weaknesses. Even if it gets into close combat, it can draw out a high-frequency chainsaw or an alloy battle blade to fight back.
If it weren't for the high difficulty in manufacturing magic-powered mechs and the high skill requirements for operators, there would be no need for cumbersome magic-powered cannons and tanks; a million mechs would have been deployed to the battlefield long ago.
The airship hovered higher, its shadow moving slowly across the ground, covering the advancing alchemical legion and the fighting coalition forces.
The goblin gunners surveyed the battlefield below, marked several areas densely populated with alchemists, and dropped a volley of incendiary bombs.
The smoke and dust on the battlefield grew thicker, and the sounds became increasingly chaotic.
The roars of orcs, the booming of magic cannons, the clanging of metal, and the cracking of alchemical runes mingled together, echoing continuously across the open ground.
Under the relentless attacks of the Small World Alliance, the constructs at the forefront began to show obvious signs of slowing down and pausing.
After repeated artillery fire stripped away the outer shells of some units, their internal structures and the damaged rune connections were exposed.
The golems continued to advance, though at a much slower pace than at the start of the war. They did not stop, but slowly advanced toward the Allied lines.
Seeing that the battle formation ahead was becoming unstable, a large number of alchemical artifacts flew out of the sorcerers' waist pouches and backpacks.
Some of them resemble mass-produced standard equipment.
Some resemble discs, emitting a continuous buzzing sound as they hover at low altitudes, with metal plates on their edges spinning rapidly as they fly towards the enemy.
Some resemble slender metal branches, leaving afterimages as they swing in the air, with an attack range longer than visually estimated.
There are also some triangular prisms suspended in the low sky, tilting and releasing continuous beams of energy toward the ground.
Under the alchemist's command, these alchemical tools continuously reaped lives.
The disc sped forward at breakneck speed, its sharp edges severing the neck bones of skeleton soldiers within the undead ranks.
The skull rolled off the shoulder and shattered into pieces, its inner fire extinguished by the construct's foot.
The skeletons in the back row continued to advance, the disc passing between the skeletons, scattering a large number of skeletons on the ground, no longer moving.
Metal branches wrapped around the orc's wrists, and the orc was slammed to the ground like a sledgehammer. His head hit the rocks and he did not get up.
Metal branches spread across the ground, wrapping around the ankles of the orcs. The branches tightened, eventually severing the orcs' ankles.
The three-sided pillar hovered low in the air, emitting beams of light that continuously burned enemies. Humans exposed to the beams screamed in agony as they were burned to death.
The skeletons of the undead turned white and brittle in the beam of light, eventually shattering completely.
Various strange and wonderful alchemical artifacts also displayed their power on the battlefield, killing many enemies.
As the alchemical artifacts took effect, the allied forces' advance gradually slowed down. The sorcerers in the rear, seeing the obvious effects, continued to supply energy.
...
Casper stood at the heart of the Alchemist Legion's formation, his gaze piercing through the surging battle before settling on the greyish-white figure.
The Divine Abomination was entangled with three novice alchemy masters, showing no signs of being at a disadvantage. Every time it raised its hand, it could dismantle an alchemical array that was forming.
Casper looked at it for a long time.
When the grayish-white light touched the alchemical structure, the silvery-white array patterns would begin to shatter from the point of contact.
This is not a brute-force demolition, but a structural-level disintegration.
Casper did not join the attack; he needed to first understand the underlying logic of that power.
"Seal it off, don't rush to kill it."
Casper's voice reached the ears of several other alchemists.
"I need to study the source of its power so that I can deal with it if I encounter it again in the future."
Upon hearing this, the others nodded almost imperceptibly, and the mid-level alchemy master also joined the attack.
The four alchemy masters raised their hands simultaneously, and the silver-white alchemy array closed in from four directions at the same time. The array patterns intertwined to form a light shield, trapping the divine monster in the center.
This alchemical array is clearly much more powerful than the previous one; at least, it's difficult for even divine beings to break through it directly.
The divine monstrous body crashed into the inside of the light barrier. The grayish-white mist on its body came into contact with the silvery-white array patterns, and the array patterns began to shatter, but the shattering speed was slower than before.
Four alchemy masters continuously output energy, maintaining a fragile balance between shattering and repairing the light shield.
Casper stood outside the array, his gaze fixed on the Divine Abomination, observing the details of the grayish-white mist interacting with the alchemical array.
This mysterious power has its limits. Although it can restrain alchemy arrays of the same level, its restraining effect is much weaker if the array is one level higher.
As time went on, the light shield continued to compress, and it looked like it was about to completely suppress the divine monster.
Just then, Casper sensed an unfamiliar energy rapidly approaching; it was very close and moving at a fast speed.
He had just turned around when a grayish-white light struck him.
He had no time to dodge, and the beam of light struck him squarely in the chest.
A tremendous force propelled him off the ground, sending him flying backward and knocking over several sorcerers who were maintaining the alchemy array behind him. He rolled several times on the ground before coming to a stop.
A sharp pain shot through his chest, and his robe ripped open, revealing a layer of crumbling silver-white armor.
That was a protective amulet he always carried with him, which he always wore close to his body and had never activated. At this moment, its surface was covered with cracks.
Without this armor, his sternum and internal organs would have been crushed in one blow.
He struggled to his feet, his gaze falling on the figure that had suddenly appeared.
A human dressed in a dark purple robe stood atop the head of a gray-white dragon, the lingering afterglow of the dissipated gray-white light still clinging to his hand.
"Looks like... the main character has arrived."
Casper got up without a care and tore open his tattered robes.
Even during the battle against the God of Abominations, Casper had suspected that there must be an even more powerful entity behind these four legions.
It is capable of strongly suppressing mid-level alchemy masters.
Otherwise, given the strength of the four legion commanders, they wouldn't have prevented a mid-level alchemy master and three low-level alchemy masters from even sending out a distress signal.
The appearance of Lynn and the Chaos Dragon resolved his doubts.
One is an unfathomable human, and the other is a dragon that brings him a sense of crisis.
Casper had no doubt about Lynn's strength; if he could subdue such a powerful dragon, Lynn's strength could only be even greater!
This is probably going to be troublesome.
