Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!

Chapter 540 Aldrick Emerges from Seclusion

After the main city of Alchemy was sealed off, the refugees who had fled from outside the city were plunged into a desperate situation.

A group of refugees were running towards the city gate. The first few ran into the closing iron gate as soon as they reached it.

Someone pounded on the door, their fists striking the iron door with a dull thud, only to be followed by another fist and hand.

Some people used their shoulders to push, some used their bodies to ram, and the sounds of others, mixed with the slapping, came in intermittently:

"Open the door! Please open the door! Let us in!"

The iron gate didn't stop; it continued to close, finally shutting completely amidst a series of thuds.

This completely shattered the hopes of the refugees outside the city.

They were abandoned.

The knocking outside the door continued for a while, then quickly became sparse, and finally gradually subsided, leaving only a slight rustling sound.

That was the sound of grayish-white mist drifting over the base of the city wall, a slight but continuous flow.

No one spoke from inside the city walls; they already knew the fate of the refugees outside.

Due to their limited abilities, they could only stand in their respective positions, placing their hands on the surface of the city wall or the edge of their robes, feeling the faint vibrations of the array patterns flowing continuously within the wall.

The grayish-white mist had already reached the area below the city wall.

It flowed along the base of the city wall, and when it came into contact with the silvery-white light film, fine ripples began to appear on the surface of the film, resisting erosion.

The light film was intact, and the fog did not seep in.

It simply flows slowly along the surface of the light film, like a layer of churning gray water.

The sorcerers inside the city walls could see that the light membrane remained intact despite the erosion by the fog, and there were no gaps yet.

As expected of an alchemy array jointly constructed by ten alchemy masters, it is indeed powerful enough to even block that strange mist.

Just as everyone was about to breathe a sigh of relief, an alchemist standing in the middle of the inner side of the city wall suddenly shouted urgently, "The array patterns! The array patterns are disappearing!"

Everyone was startled.

Several people near him simultaneously lowered their heads and looked at the runic patterns at their feet.

The patterns are fading, changing from silvery-white to light gray, and the color is rapidly diminishing.

They reached out to touch the array patterns, wanting to reinforce and repair them.

As soon as the finger touched the lines, those fine lines faded and blurred further under the fingertip, and then completely lost their luster and stopped shining.

The array patterns there have failed!

The commander's expression changed. He glanced at the thinning silver-white light membrane outside the city wall, then at the disappearing array patterns beneath his feet, and said to his deputy beside him:

"Go to the Alchemists' Guild headquarters and ask for help. Tell them to notify the guild master to emerge from seclusion. If this drags on any longer, the entire city will vanish!"

The deputy responded and ran down the steps inside the city wall, across the street, through the gate of the Alchemist Guild headquarters, and into the office on the first floor.

The person in charge was standing behind the counter when his deputy rushed in, panting. He asked, "What happened? Why did you sound the alarm?"

The deputy said anxiously:

"Where is the guild leader? Quickly notify him to come out of seclusion. There is a strange fog outside the city. That fog has begun to erode the defensive alchemical array of the city walls. The array patterns are disappearing rapidly."

"If we don't leave the pass soon, the entire city will vanish!"

Upon hearing this, the person in charge was startled and hurriedly said, "The vice president and several speakers have all gone to war, but the army was defeated and there has been no news of them since."

"The president is in seclusion. Go interrupt him now..."

The deputy grew anxious: "What time is it? Why are you still worrying about these things? If he doesn't leave the pass soon, he'll be in deep trouble too! Go and notify him while there's still time!"

Upon hearing this, the person in charge no longer hesitated.

If he hesitates any longer, he himself will be implicated!

The person in charge turned around and walked to the stone door leading to the underground chamber. He pushed open the heavy stone door and walked down the stone steps, his footsteps echoing several times in the narrow passage.

He walked to the door of the secret room, took a deep breath, and then raised his hand to knock on the door.

The sound traveled downwards along the stone steps, striking the brick and stone walls and producing a dull, compressed, intermittent echo.

There was no immediate response from inside the door.

After a few breaths, Aldrick's voice came from inside the door, lower than usual, and with a hint of pressure:

"What is it? Didn't I tell you not to bother me?!"

Clearly, being interrupted at a crucial moment would make even the good-natured Aldrick angry.

The person in charge quickly explained the situation outside through the door, his voice echoing through the narrow passage.

There was a moment of silence inside the door, then the stone door opened from the inside, and Aldrick stepped out.

His physique had not changed significantly since his seclusion, but his eyes gleamed with boundless brilliance.

Aldrick closed his eyes, his mental energy spreading rapidly as he sensed everything around him.

He sensed the dissipating array patterns, the thinning defensive alchemical array outside the city walls, and the grayish-white area that was slowly eroding the entire outer structure of the city.

That layer of grayish-white mist couldn't even penetrate his mental energy, and it could even erode and assimilate his mental energy!

This is... the power of chaos!

Aldrick opened his eyes, knowing that he could no longer peacefully cultivate in seclusion and had to come out of seclusion early to resolve the current predicament.

Now that he has fully recovered from his injuries and is completely familiar with the rules of the world, he has mastered the "true names" of all the rules, and his realm has stabilized at the peak of the Alchemy Master. His strength is much greater than before.

He was confident that he could suppress all dissent!

Very well, it's not too late to go into seclusion and break through after we've eliminated the enemy.

Aldrick said to the person in charge:

"They're coming for me. You guys guard the association headquarters, I'll take care of them."

After saying that, he disappeared from sight.

When he reappeared, Aldrick was already on the city wall.

The silvery-white light film on the city wall was still operating, but the brightness at the edges was dimmer than before, and several areas were thinning, and the surface of the light film was no longer uniform.

When the alchemists on the city wall saw him, they were instantly invigorated, as if they had found their pillar of support, and they all shouted "Guild Master!"

Their hands were still pressed on the array patterns, trying their best to maintain the alchemy array.

The array patterns were still fading, but the rate of fading had slowed down compared to before.

However, these alchemists had limited power and would soon exhaust their alchemical energy.

At that time, the entire main city will not escape destruction.

Fortunately, their president arrived.

As the strongest person in this world, the guild leader is omnipotent in their eyes, helping them overcome countless crises.

As long as the guild leader takes action, the fog outside the city will be nothing but a bunch of chickens and dogs.
