Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 637 Soul Girl
When Belloc led the skeleton warrior halfway there, the girl finally woke up.
She moved her fingers first, felt the turbulence around her, and slowly opened her eyes and raised her head.
Before her eyes were two terrifying skeletons standing close at hand, supporting her arms as they led her forward.
The girl trembled with fear and struggled desperately. The force she generated during her struggle was so great that the two skeletal warriors beside her almost lost their grip.
"Let me go! Let me go!"
She screamed and struggled, her voice thin and shrill.
Belloc raised his hand, causing the skeletal warrior to release his grip.
The girl collapsed to the ground, her face deathly pale.
She hurriedly wrapped her wizard robe tighter around herself, then glanced down inside.
It was actually a vacuum inside.
The girl's face flushed instantly, filled with shame and fear, and she tightly wrapped her robe around her chest.
"Where am I? Who are you people?" She took half a meter back.
Belloc stepped forward, trying to soften his voice: "Don't be afraid. You were rescued after you were in danger. You are now at the Bone Spire Academy. I am Belloc, the Soul Department's deputy."
"The Spire of Bones?" The girl paused for a moment, as if she had heard the name somewhere before.
She tried hard to recall something, but her mind was a complete mess and she couldn't remember anything.
The last thing she could remember was that she felt like she was dead.
She couldn't tell whether she was murdered or died of illness; she only remembered the cold and darkness, and a long period of being in a daze.
The last remaining memory is a pair of indifferent eyes.
Those eyes were eerily calm, as if they were looking at an object.
"Have I... died once?" the girl asked softly, hugging her knees.
"Death? Not quite. You were lucky to be saved by a big shot and escaped with your life," Belloc said with a sigh.
Regardless of how this girl got involved with Lynn, she was extremely lucky and would be able to walk around the academy with impunity from now on.
The girl looked up at him, her eyes still full of confusion.
"By the way, what's your name?" Belloc asked.
The girl opened her mouth, but couldn't say anything for a long time.
name?
She remembered that she had a name, but she couldn't recall it no matter what she did.
The word in my mind seemed to be blocked by something, and I couldn't grasp it no matter what I did.
"I...can't remember." She lowered her head, her voice very soft.
Bellok sighed, "Never mind if you can't remember. Let's go register first and settle in. We can think about it slowly later."
It seems this girl has been thoroughly ravaged by Lord Lynn, even losing her memories. Could he have used some shady new tricks on her?
Belloc helped the girl up, then recalled one of the skeleton warriors, leaving only one to follow behind.
The girl felt a chill run down her spine looking at the skeleton that made a "clacking" sound as it walked, and she avoided it with her feet.
Upon arriving at the academy's registration office, Belloc revealed his identity as a soul-type assistant and demanded that the girl be registered on the academy's "new student list."
The deacon in charge of registration, seeing that he was personally leading the group, didn't ask any further questions, but simply tested the girl's soul talent.
"Low-grade soul talent." The deacon announced the result and then looked at Belloc.
"Do the people you're training need to go through the normal entry-level assessment? A new batch of apprentices will be arriving in a few months."
"No need," Belloc said. "We can't wait that long. This is a special case approved by the chief of the Soul Department. Just register."
The deacon quickly completed the formalities and handed over a bone plaque and a set of introductory wizard robes.
"And the name?" the deacon asked.
Belloc looked at the girl.
The girl kept her head down, clutching the new robe, and remained silent.
"Leave it blank for now," Belloc said. "We can add the names later."
The deacon was slightly taken aback. He had never encountered this situation before. How could he register someone who didn't even have a name?
In the end, all he could write on the roster was a code name—Soul Girl.
After leaving the registration desk, Belloc looked at the bewildered girl and thought for a moment.
Since the girl did not enter the program through normal channels, she did not have the opportunity to choose a mentor or undergo an entrance assessment, making it impossible to arrange her normally.
But since it was Lord Lynn who personally instructed me, I can't just ignore it. If something unexpected happens, I'm afraid I'll be in deep trouble.
So he said to the girl:
"You currently have neither a mentor nor accommodation. Since I brought you in, why don't you temporarily become my apprentice and I'll personally guide you for a while?"
The girl paused for a moment, then looked up at him.
There was still a hint of panic in her eyes, but when she heard that Belloc was willing to take her in, a glimmer of light appeared.
Having no one to rely on and no memory of what's to come, it would be wonderful to have someone to rely on.
"Is it okay?" she asked softly.
"Don't worry, as long as you stay in the Soul System, I can absolutely guarantee your safety," Belloc said.
The girl nodded hurriedly, "I do, thank you, Lord Belloc."
"Just call me mentor from now on," Belloc nodded and said.
The young woman readily agreed and respectfully addressed him as "Mentor".
Then, Belloc led the girl toward the living quarters of the soul-type apprentices.
The girl was wrapped in a large female wizard's robe that looked extremely ill-fitting, and she walked behind him somewhat unsteadily.
She would glance back at the skeletal warrior every now and then, then quickly look away.
Belloc silently calculated in his mind.
This is someone personally arranged by Chief Lynn; even if he has amnesia, he must be quite extraordinary.
He personally guided her so that if Lynn asked about it later, he could respond immediately and also gain some goodwill.
The girl kept her head down, her mind blank.
She didn't know who she was, where she came from, or what to do in the future.
But at least now, someone is willing to take her along.
When Belloc led the girl into his laboratory, several apprentices were engrossed in processing materials.
As soon as the door opened, everyone stopped what they were doing and looked towards the entrance.
"Mentor." The apprentices quickly stood up and bowed.
Belloc nodded, stepped aside, and made way for the girl behind him:
"This is my newly accepted apprentice. From now on, we will study together in the laboratory. Let's get along well."
The apprentices responded in unison, but their eyes were all glancing at the girl.
It's not time to recruit apprentices yet, so where did the mentor bring back such a young girl?
The girl was wrapped in a large female wizard's robe, only her face was visible, and her hair was a little messy.
But her eyes were beautiful, with slightly upturned corners and soft, rounded lips, giving her an unconsciously alluring charm.
The two male apprentices stared in disbelief.
One was holding a bone fragment in one hand, and the other was holding a pestle; they had both forgotten what they were doing.
The girl felt a little uneasy under his gaze and shrank back behind Belloc.
Belloc's face darkened, and he let out a heavy, cold snort.
This sound, imbued with spiritual power, struck directly into the minds of the two male apprentices.
The two men shuddered, their faces turning pale in an instant. The pestle fell onto the table with a thud, and a piece of bone broke off in their grip.
"Don't want your eyes anymore? Gouge them out and use them for experiments!" Belloc coldly glanced at them.
The two male apprentices didn't even dare to lift their heads, their foreheads covered in cold sweat.
The other apprentices in the lab were also silent, none of them daring to utter a sound.
