Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!

Chapter 657 Organs of Star Beasts

For the next two days, Lynn stayed at the city lord's mansion.

Horn hosted a banquet every night, inviting all the wizards to drink together and welcoming new guests.

Three more wizards arrived the next day.

One was a gaunt old man who worked on the dead, named Gray.

A middle-aged witch who repaired the defenses was named Salra.

There was also a young male wizard who practiced illusion magic, named Pete.

By the third day, there were already about ten people sitting in the hall.

Everyone became familiar with each other, and they spoke less formally, making the scene truly lively and extraordinary.

After a few rounds of drinks, some people started talking about the bottlenecks in their cultivation, some complained about the difficulty in finding certain materials, and some even started making transactions right there at the table.

Although Lynn was also a bit tipsy, he didn't rush to make a move.

He was waiting, waiting to gather information on all the wizards, waiting for the right opportunity.

The banquet ended early the following evening.

Lynn returned to her room and had barely sat down when she heard a knock on the door.

"Brother Lynn, are you still awake?" It was Barrow's voice, the gray-robed old man who trained in summoning.

Lynn's heart skipped a beat, and he had a guess in his mind.

Upon opening the door, Barrow stood smiling at the entrance, holding an exquisite wooden box in his arms, clearly intending to sell something.

"There are too many people during the day, so it's not convenient to take some things out," Barrow said mysteriously. "I heard you're looking for something from the Star System?"

Lynn nodded: "We are indeed looking."

Barrow placed the wooden box on the table and nervously opened the lid.

It was lined with a thick layer of gray velvet, and two things were placed on it.

One was a heart the size of a fist, dark red with a purplish tinge, with a fine layer of silvery-white lines on its surface, and it was still slightly shiny.

Next to it was an eyeball, completely black, with a silvery-blue light in the pupil, like a star in the night.

"Brother Lynn, you know your stuff," Barrow said in a low voice, his eyes narrowing to slits. "These two items are no ordinary goods."

Lynn wasn't impressed by Barrow's pretense; he knew it was a merchant's trick to inflate prices. He leaned back leisurely in his chair.

"Oh? What do you mean by 'not small'?"

Barrow leaned closer and lowered his voice:

"Last winter, I set up an interdimensional summoning array. I spent three years figuring out that array, and I had to sacrifice the complete corpse of a wizard-level magical beast, plus the soul of a second-tier spirit beast, to barely activate it."

He paused for a moment to observe Lynn's expression as he spoke.

Lynn didn't react much, only raising her hand to signal him to continue.

Seeing that Lynn didn't seem interested, Barrow continued, "As soon as the magic array was activated, starlight burst forth from the sky, a crack appeared in the void, and a star beast forced its way out."

"Good heavens, that thing was as big as a house, covered in silver scales, and had eyes like lanterns. I almost fell in it."

He patted his chest, his tone very serious:

"Fortunately, I still have a few trump cards up my sleeve. I used three disposable witch artifacts and risked my life for half the night before finally strangling it to death with a witch array."

"That guy's star power was completely scattered, leaving only his heart and eyeballs intact. These two are its most essential parts, with incredibly pure star power. If you take it, it will definitely be well worth the price."

Lynn chuckled after hearing this, pointed to the eyeball the size of a copper coin, and teased:

"Is this what you meant by a lantern-sized eyeball? Your lantern is certainly tiny."

Barrow coughed awkwardly twice: "Well, as the saying goes, good things come in small packages."

"This thing automatically shrank after its main body died, but not a single bit of the stellar energy inside leaked out; it was all sealed inside!"

Lynn remained noncommittal, tapping her finger on the table: "Whether the product is good or not, I'll know after I see it."

Barrow eagerly pushed the wooden box in front of Lynn.

Lynn picked up the heart first.

The heart feels slightly cool to the touch, and the silvery-white patterns on its surface are indeed shiny, but the brightness is very weak, as if viewed through a layer of fog.

He probed into it with his spiritual power, carefully sensing the flow of stellar energy within.

Star power does exist, and its concentration is not low, but its structure is loose and it has not formed stable patterns.

This level of star power is just right for advanced apprentices, but it's too weak for formal wizards.

Lynn picked up the eyeball again.

The starlight in the eyeball is slightly stronger than that in the heart, but only by a limited margin.

The glimmer in his pupils was more like the lingering afterglow, no longer fresh.

These two items are indeed genuine star beast organs, but it's unclear how to utilize them or whether Lin Chen can use them.

Hmm... let's take it first. At worst, we can find a pharmacist to make it into a potion, which should also have an effect on Lin Chen.

Lynn put the item back in the box and looked up at Barrow: "Barrow, is this the wizard-level star beast you were talking about?"

Barrow remained unfazed: "What's wrong? Is something the problem?"

Lynn pointed to the lines on his heart:

"The core pattern of a wizard-level star beast should be a closed star ring, one ring inside another, at least seven layers. This one only has three layers, and it's not closed."

"Most of the residual starlight in the eyeball has dissipated, and the pupil light spot no longer has an inward rotating structure."

He looked at Barrow and concluded with absolute certainty: "This is a peak apprentice-level star beast, which is far from the wizard-level you mentioned."

Barrow was stunned. He hadn't expected Lynn to be so knowledgeable, even able to describe the characteristics of star beasts in such detail.

He chuckled twice, not embarrassed at all: "Oh dear, maybe I just got it wrong. I've summoned them so many times that I sometimes can't tell them apart."

"This is probably just a little cub that I casually summoned later, but even a little cub is a star beast, and these things are not easy to find on the market."

"They're hard to find," Lynn said. "So how much are you looking to sell them for?"

Barrow held out a hand: "Two thousand magic stones."

Lynn didn't reply, but simply closed the box and pushed it towards Barrow: "Then keep it safe, I can't afford this price."

Barrow quickly pressed down on the box: "No, no, no, the price is negotiable."

"Three hundred," Lynn said.

"Three hundred magic stones?" Barrow shook his head. "That's not even enough to cover the cost. I spent two hundred on materials to set up the summoning circle."

"That's 1,500, that's a fair price."

"A heart with such scattered star power will only fade more and more if left unattended," Lynn said. "You can keep it and sell it slowly if you want, I'm not in a hurry. Three hundred, or you can take it back with you."

Barrow opened his mouth, stared at Lynn for a few seconds, and made sure he wasn't joking.

"Six hundred," Barrow rephrased, "Add a little more; I can't work for nothing."

"Three hundred." Lynn stood up. "If you don't want to sell, then forget it."

Seeing his expression, Barrow finally relented: "Alright, alright, three hundred it is. After all, we're doing business in the city lord's mansion. Consider it a favor to make friends."

Although star beasts are rare, there are also few wizards who need them, so three hundred is not a low number.

"Will the witch crystal marrow work?" Lynn asked.

"As long as the purity is high enough."

Lynn took out a piece of witch crystal ore, worth about five hundred magic stones, from his ring and placed it on the table.

Barrow took it, weighed it in his hand, then probed it with his mental energy, and nodded.

"The purity is sufficient, then so be it." Barrow pushed the wooden box in front of Lynn.

Lynn carefully put away the heart and eyeballs.

As Barrow left, he turned back and added, "Remember to put it in the Star Power Container, otherwise the Star Power will dissipate over time."

Lynn nodded, and after Barrow left, he took out two transparent containers from his spatial ring and carefully placed them inside.
