Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 673 Battle of Black Mountain
Black Mountain stood at a distance, ignoring the howling of the Gale Wolf and the deep affection between Lynn and the other two.
He put the black bead he had just used to threaten Lin Chen back into his sleeve, a smirk playing on his lips, and let out a series of disdainful sounds.
"One is a first-ring wizard, and the other is a newly ascended Sky Knight," Black Mountain said. "The father-son bond is touching, but their strength is far too different."
"Lynn, have you been in Graystone City for too long? Have you forgotten just how much of a difference there is between the Second Ring Road and the First Ring Road?"
"I haven't forgotten," Lynn said. "Whether there's a difference or not, we'll only know after trying."
Having said that, Lynn raised his right hand and made the first move.
Grayish-white soul threads shot out from his fingertips, unfolding into a fine net in front of him, and descended upon Black Mountain.
Lin Chen didn't say anything more. He pushed off with his feet, and golden battle qi exploded out. He shot towards the left side of Black Mountain like an arrow.
"Well done." Black Mountain raised his hand and waved, black mist surging from his sleeve, transforming into more than a dozen shadowy pythons that lunged at the two of them simultaneously.
Lynn flicked his finger, and a giant net made of soul threads spread out, entangling the ten giant pythons at the front.
The threads tightened, and the giant python screamed as it turned into black smoke.
The remaining giant python bypassed the giant net and pounced straight at Lin Chen, who was standing nearby.
Lin Chen held the greatsword horizontally in front of him, fully activating his solar battle aura, and a layer of blazing white flames ignited on the sword.
A giant python bit into the sword, hissing as it was burned by the flames, and then retracted halfway.
Lin Chen swung his sword down with the momentum, splitting the giant python in two from head to tail.
With the combined attack of the two, the remaining giant pythons were quickly strangled to death.
"good."
Heishan clapped his hands, then raised them, causing a surge of black mist around him.
The black mist surged and dispersed, then condensed in mid-air into more than a dozen giant shadow wolves, each the size of a calf, with scarlet eyes and black mist dripping from their fangs.
After landing, they did not pounce immediately, but instead formed a fan shape and slowly flanked both sides.
Lynn ignored the Shadow Wolves and kept his eyes fixed on Black Mountain himself.
He raised his right hand, and grayish-white soul threads shot out from between his fingers, and the spider web spread out in front of him once again.
"Chen'er, I'll leave the left side to you," Lin En said.
"Alright." Lin Chen pushed off with his feet, and golden flames left a trail as he charged toward the three Shadow Wolves on the left.
The first shadow wolf pounced.
Lin Chen did not dodge, but swept his greatsword horizontally, the corona battle aura on the blade like a red-hot iron plate.
The shadow wolf collided with the sword's edge, half of its body was cleaved in two, and it screamed as it turned into black smoke and dissipated.
The second one attacked from the flank, its claws reaching for his lower back.
Lin Chen twisted his body to avoid it, and the hilt of his sword smashed into the wolf's face, driving its head into the ground.
"Not bad." Lynn glanced at it out of the corner of his eye and nodded secretly.
It seems that Lin Chen and this "Corona Breathing Technique" are a perfect match, producing extremely powerful effects on him.
He moved too.
The soul threads shot out in all directions, each one entwining itself around the energy core of a shadow wolf.
Before the wolves could pounce, their cores were shredded by the silk threads and burst open like bubbles.
Heishan watched from a distance, his brows twitching slightly.
With a flick of his left hand, the black mist reformed, this time transforming into several slender, vengeful spirits.
Those vengeful spirits were pitch black, faceless, with only a vertical mouth filled with fine teeth.
"Go." Black Mountain flicked his finger.
The vengeful spirit drifted past silently, twice as fast as the shadow wolf.
They bypassed Lin Chen and headed straight for Lin En.
Its vertical mouth opened, emitting a silent, piercing shriek.
Soul attack!
Lynn's mental energy rippled slightly.
But he didn't even frown. With a clench of his left hand, the vengeful spirits were as if gripped by an invisible hand. After struggling in the air for a few moments, they were crushed into black ash.
"Black Mountain, when did you become a summoner? If this is all you've got, don't embarrass yourself with your skills," Lynn said.
Black Mountain's expression darkened.
He waved his right hand again, and this time the black mist did not dissipate, but instead condensed into a huge black curtain that covered half of the sky.
Countless distorted human faces emerged from the darkness, all silently opening their mouths, as if trying to crawl out of the darkness.
"Shadow Cage," Black Mountain said. "That's second-circle sorcery. Let's see how you break it."
The black curtain of sky slowly descended, enveloping Lin En and Lin Chen simultaneously, sealing off all their escape routes.
Those distorted faces wailed incessantly, their voices piercing eardrums and striking straight to the soul.
The sound made Lin Chen's vision blur and his fighting spirit faltered. Taking advantage of this, a shadow wolf pounced on him.
He managed to turn to the side, and the wolf's claws slashed a bloody gash on his shoulder.
"Chen'er!" Aria screamed from behind.
"Don't get distracted," Lynn said.
He spread his five fingers on his right hand, and grayish-white spiritual energy condensed into a giant shield above his head.
The shield was covered with densely packed soul patterns, like countless open eyes.
The darkness crashed against the shield, producing a dull thud.
The distorted faces pressed against the shield, screaming in agony from the burning spiritual energy within the soul runes, and one by one they shrank back.
The darkness was suspended in mid-air, unable to be suppressed any longer.
"A soul barrier." Black Mountain narrowed his eyes. "Your soul power is quite substantial."
"Not only that," Lynn said.
He pushed forward with his right hand, and the soul barrier suddenly exploded, turning into thousands of soul needles that shot towards Black Mountain like a torrential rain.
Black Mountain's pupils contracted, and with a flick of his sleeves, black mist condensed into three shields in front of him.
The soul needles struck the first layer, shattering the shield; they struck the second layer, cracking it; they struck the third layer, pinning it down like a dense porcupine's quills.
Montenegro took a step back.
Although the shield wasn't broken, the soul power on the needles seeped in, causing his soul to feel faintly numb.
"Alright." Black Mountain gritted his teeth. "To be able to unleash such power with just one ring, your soul is indeed extraordinary."
"This is nothing, I have something even more complicated to do," Lynn said.
He suddenly closed his eyes.
The wind stopped, the dust settled back to the ground, and even the shadow wolves froze for a moment.
Lynn's soul power surged from his body like a tide, condensing into a blurry phantom behind him.
The phantom was very tall, its face obscured, only its eyes gleaming with a grayish-white light.
"Soul projection," Lynn whispered.
The phantom opened its eyes, and two gray-white beams of light swept towards Black Mountain.
Black Mountain's expression changed, and the black mist condensed into a round shield in front of him. The beam of light struck the shield, and the shield surface quickly cracked.
Heishan retreated several steps, crushing several stone slabs under his feet.
With a flick of his wrist, the round shield exploded, transforming into dozens of black bats that scattered and fled. But the beam of light chased after the bats, turning them into black smoke one by one.
Black Mountain took a breath. He looked at Lynn, a hint of fear finally appearing in his eyes.
Something's not right! The soul strength of this first-level cultivator far exceeds his expectations.
Especially that projection, it's ridiculously powerful!
As Heishan gazed at the powerful projection of the soul, the color drained from his face.
He stared at those grayish-white, luminous eyes; something felt off.
He had seen ordinary soul projections before; they were simply a wizard condensing his spiritual power into a phantom to amplify the power of his magic.
But the projection in front of him didn't seem to belong to Lynn at all.
The aura was so ancient and so immense, it felt like the weight of the entire world pressing down on his chest.
