Eternal Beast Taming Family

Chapter 146 Human Fruit

The mysterious man did not reach for the fruit; his bright eyes scrutinized Chu Shengfan from head to toe.

"Do you know what this fruit is?"

Regardless of what it was, Chu Shengfan just wanted to get rid of this "hot potato." He just wanted to finish his life in Xianyuan City and then go to Qianling Prefecture to take the imperial examination.

"This humble one does not know what this is, but whatever it is, this humble one has no intention of keeping it. Now, please return it to your senior."

However, the man seemed not to have heard the refusal in his words, and instead slowly took two steps toward Chu Shengfan, explaining softly:

"This is the Human Fruit. Within this seemingly ordinary fruit lies a self-contained world, inhabited by a tribe of mortals. If you were to break it from the outside..."

In an instant, thousands of people will lose their lives because of your actions, so you should be careful.

Moreover, without an energy supply for a long time, the humans would die due to the dryness of the earth and sky. A day has passed since the fruit was picked.

Without the supply of energy from the mother body, natural disasters should have already begun to occur within it.

Hearing the mysterious man's words, Chu Shengfan almost dropped the fruit in his hand, as if it now possessed a weight of a thousand pounds.

But after a moment of calm, Chu Shengfan's gaze turned suspicious again. If that were the case, why would this mysterious person tell him this? He could have just taken the fruit and left. Why waste all this time talking? Chu Shengfan had a bad feeling about this.

"Since it is so precious, I will now return it to you, senior."

The mysterious man shook his head. "I don't have time to take care of them. This benefit is for you now."

Before Chu Shengfan could understand the meaning behind his words, the mysterious man suddenly appeared in front of Chu Shengfan. A flash of cold light appeared, and Chu Shengfan's left hand was lifted up, with a cut on it. Crimson blood dripped like water onto the bluish-gray peel of the "Human Fruit".

Chu Shengfan instinctively tried to pull his arm back, but the mysterious man was incredibly strong, pinning Chu Shengfan's arm firmly in the air like a pair of pincers.

With the influx of blood, the bluish-gray color on the fruit peel slowly faded, replaced by a brighter emerald green.

Moreover, Chu Shengfan felt a part of his spirit being drawn away, as if he had arrived in a dark place where the sky was bluish-gray and the land was brownish-brown.

The space isn't very large; it's a typical environment with a flat, round sky and a square earth, with the sky acting like a dome covering the ground.

An ancient tribe lived on the land, and red blood energy surged between heaven and earth, flowing into the bodies of the tribesmen and instantly invigorating their listless spirits.

Finally, the excess blood energy slowly formed a statue of Chu Shengfan in the very center of the tribe.

People from all the tribes came from all directions, bowing respectfully before the statue and calling it "God".

Chu Shengfan's spirit lingered in this world for only a moment before instantly returning to his true body.

Having just returned, a brief look of confusion crossed his eyes. "What was that just now?"

"If you can cultivate this fruit well and receive the worship of all people, your path to becoming king will be exceptionally smooth."

Chu Shengfan never believed that good things would fall into his lap. He almost gritted his teeth as he asked, "Senior, why are you giving me this? You and I don't seem to know each other well."

"It's nothing, I just find you pleasing to the eye." The mysterious man seemed to smile.

Just then, thousands of streaks of light suddenly lit up the night sky above the city. These streaks of light flew out from one place and then flew to various parts of the city.

The mysterious man looked up, a smile playing on his lips. "The real manhunt has begun. Young man, you'd better hide well."

As he spoke, he reached out and gently pressed his palm against Chu Shengfan's body. A faint ripple swept across Chu Shengfan's entire body before receding into the fruit in Chu Shengfan's hand.

Under Chu Shengfan's gaze, the fruit transformed into a stream of light and slowly merged into his palm, leaving behind only a small, wooden-sized imprint.

After finishing these tasks, the mysterious man gave Chu Shengfan one last deep look before his figure flickered again and disappeared.

His own blood and energy surged into the mark in his palm, and waves of dizziness assaulted Chu Shengfan's mind. Chu Shengfan braced himself against the wall beside him and slowly steadied himself.

A few minutes later, seemingly having finally drunk its fill, or perhaps out of protection for this "new mother body," the "human fruit" that had turned into a mark stopped absorbing the blood and energy from Chu Shengfan's body.

Chu Shengfan, his face pale, stretched out his palm to look at the mark, revealing a bitter smile. He felt that he was a piece of fertile land, and this "Human Fruit" mark was the plant growing there. He was now using all his strength to nourish it.

Thinking of this, he stiffened. Perhaps that mysterious person really did have such a plan, waiting for the fruit to ripen before coming to harvest it.

Chu Shengfan gritted his teeth. There really is no such thing as a free lunch in this world.

He clenched his fist tightly, looked up at the streaks of light that kept passing through the sky, each streak representing a Spirit-level Contract Master.

Now he not only has to figure out how to deal with this "human fruit", but also hide it so that it can't be found by the heavenly people. If it is really discovered, he doesn't believe that the Wu family will listen to his explanation.

After a short while, Chu Shengfan felt the dizziness in his head had eased considerably. He tried his best to keep his steps steady and walked towards the courtyard as usual.

Because of the arrival of the mysterious person, the "Snow Shadow Cat" that was placed on the ground obediently followed Chu Shengfan's side, its lively eyes alertly watching the surrounding environment.

Chu Shengfan now looked at the "Snow Shadow Cat" with complicated emotions, unsure whether he should get rid of it, since the "Snow Shadow Cat" had witnessed everything that had just happened.

After hesitating for a long time, he realized that if he really killed it, the boy would not be able to see his cat tomorrow, which would cause a bigger commotion. Moreover, a high-ranking mortal-level source beast was far from being smart enough to understand what had just happened.

Thinking this way, Chu Shengfan tacitly agreed to let "Snow Shadow Cat" obediently follow along.

Upon returning to the courtyard, Chu Shengfan closed the gate and saw Sun Chunchen sitting in the main room.

Almost immediately upon seeing Chu Shengfan, Sun Chunchen noticed that something was wrong with Chu Shengfan.

He immediately put down his teacup, and after Chu Shengfan entered the main room, he gently closed the door with a flick of his finger before asking in a deep voice:

"What happened today? Why are you in such a bad state?"

Upon entering the house, Chu Shengfan seemed to have lost all his strength. He staggered to the chair and almost leaned on it to sit down.

Sun Chunchen quickly stood up, and a deer-shaped source beast appeared in the main room, its horns glowing with a green light that enveloped Chu Shengfan.

After a moment, Chu Shengfan's face finally regained some color. He looked at the worried Sun Chunchen, sighed, and slowly opened his right palm, revealing the mark of the "Human Fruit".
