Eternal Beast Taming Family

Chapter 56 Mother and Son's Contract with Source Beasts

Chu Shengyuan shook his head and went to call his parents and sister.

A moment later, Chu Qinhui and his group appeared in the main room, their eyes constantly darting back and forth between the three small snakes on the table.

Upon learning that the baby snake nestled inside the snake egg had some congenital deficiencies, everyone who looked at it felt a great pity.

Chu Jingyu's gaze swept over his family members one by one, finally settling on Chu Shenghan. He bent down slightly to meet Xiaohan's eyes.

He led Xiaohan to the table and asked softly, "Xiaohan, are you afraid of them?"

Perhaps because she was getting too close to the two snakes, Chu Shenghan's body stiffened. The two snakes, one bluish-gray and the other pinkish-white, curiously approached her, wriggling as if they wanted to climb onto her body.

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then said in a slightly trembling voice:

"Grandpa, I'm not afraid."

Seeing Chu Shenghan's behavior, Chu Jingyu had no idea that she was saying one thing but meaning another. He sighed and reached out to push the two snake cubs that had come closer to him aside.

"Xiao Han, it's okay. If you don't like it, you don't like it. Let your mother and brother make a contract for now, and we'll go to town later to choose one you like."

Chu Shenghan lowered her head in shame. "I'm sorry, Grandpa, I..."

"No need to apologize. Everyone has things they're afraid of, but it's okay to be afraid or dislike something. Promise Grandpa that you'll have the courage to face them in the future."

Chu Shenghan clenched her fists and nodded firmly.

Chu Jingyu led Xiao Han to the side, "Give the bluish-gray one to Xiao Yuan, and the pinkish-white one to Jiang Nian. You two should quickly sign contracts with them."

Jiang Nian looked at the pinkish-white snake, her eyes showing no fear, only that the little snake looked rather delicate and cute.

Chu Shengyuan couldn't wait any longer. He leaned closer to the table, and a glimmer of spiritual light was drawn from between his eyebrows and landed on the "Aomori Giant Python".

The "Aomori Giant Boa" twitched uncomfortably twice, then rolled its eyes back as if it had fallen into a deep sleep.

On the other side, Jiang Nian did the same, but the "Pink Rock Crystal Python" was much more docile. After the spiritual light invaded its body, it lay obediently on the table and fell into a deep sleep.

A few minutes later, Chu Shengyuan opened his eyes.

He stretched out his palm in front of the "Aomori Giant Boa" that had opened its eyes. Perhaps because they had already formed a contract, the "Aomori Giant Boa" obediently wrapped around Chu Shengyuan's arm and climbed up.

Soon it reached his shoulder and pressed against his face. The cool touch of the snake's scales stimulated his skin, making Chu Shengyuan shake his head uncomfortably.

On the other side, the "Pink Rock Crystal Python" nestled peacefully in Jiang Nian's hand, raising its head to curiously observe the others, looking like a new member joining a large family.

"Qinhui, Xiaohan, you two come with me to town."

Chu Jingyu pointed to the snake egg with a crack on the table and said to Xiao Yuan, "This little snake is in your care."

Chu Shengyuan pressed down on the "Aomori Giant Anaconda" that was rubbing against his face, patted his chest vigorously, and said, "I guarantee I'll complete the mission."

Chu Jingyu was very pleased with the little guy's enthusiasm. After a quick tidying up, the three of them set off for town.

At Yaoxintang, Sun Chunchen looked at the scales of the "Golden Scaled Dragon Fish" that had reappeared in front of him and shook his head with a slight smile.

"Brother Chu, are you not planning to leave this behind as a foundation?"

"No one in our family contracts fish-type source beasts. These source beasts are only found in areas with many lakes or near the sea, where there are many contract masters. Although they are precious, they are not useful to our family in the short term."

It would be better to exchange them for some Source Stones, or resources that can help children grow quickly; those resources would be far more effective.

Sun Chunchen clapped his hands lightly and sighed, "Brother Chu is truly magnanimous. I've seen too many people hoard treasures that can't be put to use, dragging their families down with them. With Brother Chu's broad-mindedness, how can your family not prosper?"

"Would Brother Sun be willing to accept this scale?"

Sun Chunchen waved his hand, "I'm all alone now, so these scales aren't of much use to me. I suggest you take them to the Treasure Pavilion for auction; that way, you can maximize their value."

The three of them, grandfather, grandson, and granddaughter, went to the Treasure Pavilion again, following Sun Chunchen's advice.

Upon entering the Treasure Pavilion, Chu Qinhui did not encounter Qingluo from yesterday, but he found a counter with a consignment sign and placed the golden scales on the table.

"We'd like to consign this scale at an auction house, is that alright?"

Seeing that it was just a scale, the middle-aged man behind the counter was initially dismissive. However, after hearing Chu Qinhui's words, his eyes lit up instantly, and he examined the scale in his hand, turning it over and over several times.

Unsure of the value of the scale in his hand, he smiled at Chu Qinhui and said, "Forgive my poor eyesight, but I cannot tell which source beast this item comes from. Would you be so kind as to enlighten me?"

"The scales of the Golden Scaled Dragonfish have dragon energy on them, which can guide other low-level fish source beasts to evolve into dragon species."

These words were spoken by Chu Jingyu, who also released a slight amount of his unique mid-level alien aura, making the middle-aged man take his words seriously.

Sure enough, after realizing Chu Jingyu's cultivation level, the middle-aged man gave an apologetic smile, "Please wait a moment, sir. I need to find a more professional person to appraise him."

The man picked up a jade pendant and whispered something. A few minutes later, an old man with a cane came to the counter.

Ignoring everyone else, his sharp gaze instantly locked onto the golden scales on the counter, and he raised his cane and gently poked the ground.

The scales floated up, and a beam of light shot out from the cane, enveloping the scales. The old man seemed to have obtained some information he wanted from that light.

Then he stretched out his palm and took the scale in his hand. "That's right, it is indeed the scale of the Golden Scaled Dragonfish, with dragon energy attached to it."

Only then did his gaze fall upon Chu Jingyu, the highest-ranking cultivator present. "Are you sure you want to sell in our shop?"

The old man in front of them had a similar demeanor to Sun Chunchen, clearly a Spirit-level Contract Master. It was perfectly normal for him to ignore Chu Jingyu and the others just now.

Hearing his question, Chu Jingyu nodded, "Yes, my youngest son needs to contract a source beast, so we can only sell this treasure to raise funds."

The old man gently turned his cane. "Alright, we have two ways to sell here. One is a fixed price of seven thousand Source Stones to our Treasure Pavilion."

Another option is to put it at an auction, where our Treasure Pavilion will take a 5% commission. Which option would you prefer?

"Seven thousand Origin Stones?" Chu Jingyu said subconsciously.

The old man thought Chu Jingyu was not satisfied with the price, so he explained, "Although this scale has dragon energy, it is only at the spirit level. Only mortal and other-level fish source beasts can absorb the dragon energy on it."

Moreover, whether or not the evolution is successful depends on luck, and once the dragon energy is completely absorbed, the scales lose their value, so their price is not as terrifying as one might imagine.

"If you had a complete set of Golden Scaled Dragonfish scales, our Treasure Pavilion wouldn't dare auction such an item. We'd at least send it to the capital city, where it would truly be priceless."
