Eternal Beast Taming Family

Chapter 8 Contracted Beast

Most medicinal beasts have a mild temperament, slow advancement, and little combat ability in the early stages. For ordinary people, it doesn't matter what kind of source beast they are, as long as they can form a contract with it.

However, for Chu Shengfan, the son of a different-level contract master, the medicinal beast was not the best choice.

Chu Jingyu looked at Chu Shengfan, patted his head, and said softly:

"This is the best option for our family right now."

Although he didn't understand what the two old men meant by "medicinal beast," Chu Shengfan looked at Sun Chunchen and said firmly, "I believe in the choice my grandfather made for me."

Hearing the boy's complete trust, Chu Jingyu's eyes flashed with complex emotions, while Sun Chunchen sighed deeply.

Seeing that the two were so insistent, Sun Chunchen did not try to dissuade them. "I do have three medicinal beasts here that are suitable for contracting. Take a look and then make your choice. Come with me."

Sun Chunchen led Chu Jingyu and the other person towards the backyard, which was further back from the main hall.

Walking through the corridor, the courtyard is filled with lush green plants, and even during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the leaves do not show any signs of turning yellow.

It makes you feel as if you are deep in a dense forest.

The backyard was huge. When he reached an open space, Sun Chunchen slowly stopped. Then, his fingertips emitted specks of spiritual light, which disappeared into the depths of the lush green plants surrounding the yard.

A short while later, three little creatures of different appearances emerged from different directions and obediently gathered at Sun Chunchen's feet.

It looked like a bean worm, its whole body was green, and it was about the length of a palm. Perhaps it had a good diet, as it looked plump. At this moment, the two tentacles on its forehead were curiously wriggling.

Sun Chunchen took it in his hand and introduced it to the two, "The Green Leaf Insect, after forming a contract, can awaken an aura-type skill, which accelerates the growth of spiritual plants within its habitat and slightly improves their quality."

Future evolutionary directions will likely focus on cultivating elixirs.

One of them resembled a rabbit, but it had a faint pink tinge on its forehead and tiny pink crystals adorning its limbs. At this moment, its front paws were placed near its mouth, making it look somewhat restrained and uneasy.

Sun Chunchen looked at the little rabbit at his feet. "This is a medicinal crystal rabbit. It likes to eat various medicinal herbs and can condense medicinal crystals that can cure many diseases. It can be considered a source beast that can produce resources."

Compared to the Green Leaf Bug, it currently only has an evolved form that can reach an alternate tier, so I don't really recommend it.

The last one was a butterfly fluttering in the air. Its body was originally white, but perhaps due to the phosphorescence on its body, it reflected a shimmering light under the sun, like a graceful and beautiful woman.

Sun Chunchen extended a finger, causing the butterfly to land on its tip, while simultaneously providing an explanation.

"The phosphorescent butterfly, with its phosphorus powder, has the effect of detoxification and treating external injuries. It is a very rare medicinal beast that can directly cure diseases, and it also has a certain suppressive effect on the curse poison on Qin Hui's body."

Chu Jingyu insisted that Chu Shengfan contract a medicinal beast. As a longtime friend, how could he not understand his true intentions? He simply wanted his grandson to contract a source beast to alleviate his son's suffering.

However, this is somewhat unfair to his grandson. Hopefully, after his grandson learns more about the Source Beasts in the future, he won't harbor resentment.

Upon hearing Sun Chunchen's introduction to the "phosphorescent butterfly," Chu Shengfan's eyes lit up as he looked at the butterfly. He turned to his grandfather, silently telling him that he had made his choice.

Xiao Fan's maturity only intensified Chu Jingyu's guilt. He looked at Chu Shengfan and said softly, "Xiao Fan, make your choice."

Chu Shengfan turned his gaze to Sun Chunchen, "Grandpa Sun, I want to choose that phosphorescent butterfly."

Sun Chunchen's expression didn't change much; he simply offered another word of advice.

"Although the Phosphorescent Butterfly can evolve to the Spirit Rank compared to the Crystal Rabbit, the evolution conditions are extremely difficult. Do you still want to choose it?"

Chu Shengfan bowed and cupped his hands to Sun Chunchen, saying, "Shengfan is young and cannot see the future too far away. He only knows that this phosphorescent butterfly in front of him is the most important thing to his family at present. Even if he cannot advance in the future, Shengfan will never regret it."

Sun Chunchen glanced at Chu Jingyu and said, "You have a good grandson."

As he spoke, he gently presented the butterfly from his fingertip to Chu Shengfan, "Do you know how to form a contract?"

Chu Shengfan looked at the phosphorescent butterfly fluttering its wings silently in front of him and replied, "My grandfather already told me about it on the way here."

"Your grandfather and I will protect you. Let's begin the contract now."

Chu Shengfan nodded, suppressing his excitement. A ray of spiritual light was drawn from his forehead and then enveloped the butterfly in front of him.

Perhaps because Sun Chunchen and Chu Jingyu were protecting her, the "phosphorescent butterfly" did not put up any resistance during the entire contract process.

A faint consciousness appeared in Chu Shengfan's mind, through which he could perceive the emotions and needs of the "phosphorescent butterfly".

Most importantly, he can directly issue commands to the "phosphorescent butterfly" through a mental connection, making it do what he wants.

Furthermore, Chu Shengfan also learned about the abilities of the "Phosphorescent Butterfly" at this moment, which was more detailed than Sun Chunchen's brief introduction earlier.

Knowing that the grandfather and grandson were in a hurry to get back, Sun Chunchen simply set up a banquet, had them drink a few cups, and then sent them home.

After leaving Yaoxintang, the two went to the market and shops to buy some other daily necessities, especially the gift they had promised Xiaoyuan, otherwise that kid would cause a ruckus.

Once both empty baskets were filled, the grandfather and grandson returned to the place outside town where they had left their oxcart, then boarded the oxcart and headed towards the village.

Being a young man, even though he had opened up a special space that could accommodate the source beast, Chu Shengfan did not put it back into the space. Instead, he let it flutter around him and rest on his shoulder when it got tired.

Chu Shengfan kept staring at the "phosphorescent butterfly," which was his first source beast and was now extremely rare.

Sitting on the oxcart, feeling the swaying mountain road, with only the grandfather and grandson left on the road, Chu Shengfan asked with some curiosity,

"Grandpa, what's your relationship with Grandpa Sun? How come he was able to provide me with a rare source beast to form a contract with?"

Chu Jingyu gazed at the mountain path on either side, a look of reminiscence in his eyes. Perhaps he felt guilty towards Xiao Fan, or perhaps he felt that Chu Shengfan was getting older and it was time for him to learn more.

"We weren't really friends, except that I saved his life once more than ten years ago."

However, I have never used this favor before, only twice. Once was to cure the curse poison on your father, but it was not completely successful. The other time was to help you contract a source beast.

If there's another chance, this relationship will have to end.

Chu Shengfan seemed to be deep in thought. "But Grandpa Sun looks even stronger than you." He couldn't quite imagine how his grandfather could have saved Sun Chunchen.

Chu Jingyu chuckled and patted Chu Shengfan's head lightly. "You brat, I was gathering spiritual herbs in the mountains and saved his beast's life. So, it's a life-saving favor for him, isn't it?"

"Hmm, that seems reasonable," Chu Shengfan nodded.

"What rank is Grandpa Sun? He just seems very strong."

"Spirit rank, I guess. I don't know exactly what rank he is, but you know that he has a mysterious identity and that even the biggest family in town doesn't dare to provoke him easily."

"Alright, Grandpa, could you tell me about the ranking system?"

As they chatted, the grandfather and grandson stretched out their arms longer and longer under the setting sun.
