Beast Taming: Starting from Transmigration and Starting with a Cheat Code
Chapter 295 Reliability
Qin Ming inwardly complained, but his face remained expressionless.
Upon hearing Officer Mu's question, his gaze fell on the professional and cautious frogman on the screen, and he casually praised, "The operation is well-organized, the equipment is excellent, and it is quite reliable."
This isn't exactly going against one's conscience. According to official practice, this underwater search should be meticulous, comprehensive, and safe, ideally uncovering more related evidence while completely eliminating other potential risks or anomalies in this area.
Being cautious is understandable, but Qin Ming has his own "ideal script":
The incident was resolved quickly and smoothly, with the turtles, tortoises, and crocodiles unharmed, and life returning to what appears to be "normal."
So, watching the frogman team repeatedly scan the area that had already been "cleaned" by the turtles and tortoises, with slow progress, he couldn't help but feel a little anxious.
Why not take a few more steps and see how long this is going to take? However, as an outsider, he knew that it would be a big taboo to rashly give orders to the professional team at this moment, so he could only wait and see.
Perhaps because he got up too early and was exhausted, or perhaps because he had developed some kind of "intuition" from dealing with Qin Ming so much, Officer Mu was not fooled by those few polite words.
He took two steps closer, lowered his voice, and said with familiarity and trust, "Advisor Qin, there are no outsiders here. Have you noticed something? Or... do you feel that something might be wrong? Please speak frankly, so I can have a better understanding."
"I don't really understand the ins and outs of underwater search either," Qin Ming said cautiously, shaking his head as he stared at the screen. "Let's take another look. They're very professional."
The scene fell silent for a moment, with only the occasional brief confirmation from the frogman and the soft hum of the instruments coming from the walkie-talkie.
Officer Mu refused to give up. He paced back and forth a couple of times with a frown. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, as if he had thought of a brilliant idea. He gestured with his hands, excited and eager.
"By the way! Consultant Qin, did you... bring that 'hamster' today?" He deliberately emphasized the word "hamster".
Qin Ming was stunned for a moment before realizing that he was talking about Treasure-Hunting Mouse Xiao Bao.
"No, I didn't bring him out today," he replied casually. Even if Xiao Bao came, it wouldn't make a difference. What else could he do but let the mouse go underwater?
"I see..." Officer Mu immediately deflated like a punctured balloon, his face showing obvious regret.
Qin Ming couldn't help but glance sideways. He remembered that when Officer Mu first met Xiao Bao, he was more disgusted and surprised. Why was he suddenly interested in him now? This change in attitude was a bit too fast.
Perhaps it was Officer Mu's undisguised disappointment that softened people's hearts, or perhaps it was because the weather was getting colder and underwater operations were not easy, and if it dragged on for too long, the turtles and tortoises would have to hibernate.
Qin Ming pondered for a moment and decided to make a small opening statement as a prelude.
His gaze remained fixed on the water, and he spoke as if it were a casual remark: "...I didn't bring a hamster, but I did bring a turtle."
"turtle?!"
Officer Mu was taken aback at first, then overjoyed, his eyes lighting up. "That's wonderful!"
He viewed any animal that appeared around Advisor Qin with a special kind of special regard and aura.
After all, he had personally visited the flower and bird market, and those pets were on a completely different level from the "secret weapons" under Consultant Qin's command!
He looked forward to it with delight. Based on past experience, Consultant Qin's next sentence should be some kind of subtle but to-the-point hint. He was familiar with this process!
However, a cool breeze blew across the silent riverbank. One minute, two minutes... a full five minutes passed, and Qin Ming, apart from saying "I brought a turtle," said nothing more, his eyes glazed over, lost in thought.
Officer Mu went from being full of anticipation to feeling uneasy, and finally couldn't hold back any longer, cautiously asking, "Then... Consultant Qin, where's your turtle?"
Qin Ming blinked, snapped out of his daze, and replied casually, "Oh, it's gliding in the water."
Slipping...slipping away?
Officer Mu subconsciously looked at the calm river surface in front of him, where only the occasional bubbles from the frogmen occasionally rose, and was completely dumbfounded.
More than half an hour has passed since they arrived and the frogmen went into the water.
He stared wide-eyed, but couldn't see a single turtle surfacing for air or leisurely paddling in the water.
How did this turtle manage to "slip away"? Did it swim underwater for half an hour without taking a breath? Or...?
A bad thought popped into my head: Could it be that Consultant Qin... lost the tortoise?
As soon as the thought crossed his mind, Officer Mu felt embarrassed and guilty.
Oh dear, he really knows how to bring up the most sensitive topic! Someone who can tame amazing hamsters and powerful dogs isn't necessarily an expert at keeping turtles. He's just making assumptions; insisting on bringing this up is just adding to the consultant's frustration.
It seems he needs to trouble the frogmen to help Consultant Qin find the turtle. Normally, this would be a waste of resources, but Consultant Qin is different; he deserves it! Even if he has to pay for it himself.
Officer Mu was pondering how to approach the frogman team, while Qin Ming, whose eyes were glazed over, was also contacting Little Fatty, "Check if there are any other leftover items near the box from yesterday."
"Also, you cleared the area too cleanly. Find a suitable school of fish to act as extras, and bring in someone with high intelligence to guide the frogmen."
"Hmm, the turtle is clever!"
"...Stop!" Qin Ming objected. "You, and that crocodile, both of you stay put and don't show yourselves!"
What a joke! Little Fatty isn't exactly a native species anymore, and he can't be around. If he's not careful and reveals something to outsiders, it could be very difficult to handle.
However, native creatures are indeed not that clever and adaptable. At this moment, Little Fatty's desire to petition was too strong, and he even wanted to swear an oath on him. In the struggle, Qin Ming took a step back.
"Find someone going the same way, and learn their moves carefully, so you don't give yourself away."
"Great!" After receiving permission, Little Fatty immediately "deployed his troops" underwater, scanning his loyal yet somewhat apprehensive turtle subordinates.
A composed and aged figure stepped forward from the crowd: "This old minister is willing to share the king's burdens!" It was none other than the Great Flower Turtle.
Most other turtles and tortoises instinctively fear humans, especially frogmen with strange equipment and loud bubbles. Asking them to approach or even "guide" them is indeed asking too much of them; they are unwilling and mostly lack the ability.
Having confirmed his companions, Little Fatty puffed out his cheeks, a faint sheen of water emanating from his body. His form shrank again, becoming only the size of an adult human palm, and the mysterious patterns on his carapace dimmed.
He lay down next to the sturdy, heavy-looking tortoise, swaying his head and looking just like a baby.
"Let's go!" Little Fatty lightly perched on the edge of the big flower turtle's broad carapace.
The giant tortoise's figure suddenly sank.
P.S.: The pay is too low, I don't feel like writing, I'm taking a break.
