"What happened?"

Upon hearing Kirill's question, the director scoffed, "Does it matter?"

"The important thing is that you are now free," he waved his hand. "After you've registered and collected your belongings, just leave."

After the lawyer helped them complete the simple registration, Nastya and Kirill received their belongings.

"I wish you happiness," the policewoman behind the registration desk said, returning the items to Nastya as they were. "Don't do such dangerous things again."

After she finished speaking, she paused abruptly, glanced at Nastya who had put the ring back on, and chuckled, "But I don't think you'd listen anyway."

"I'll report to the police station before I come to America in the future," Nastya joked, then asked, "But I have a question."

Her brow furrowed. "What exactly happened? Who helped us?"

Not far away, Kirill asked the lawyer the same question.

"I don't know," the policewoman said. "I only saw a man in a suit go into the chief's office, but I don't know him."

"But whoever it is," the lawyer told Kirill, "he must be a big shot that none of us can afford to mess with."

"His suit, and his demeanor," he shook his head, "reeked of those white-shoe law firm partner lawyers I've seen before."

"Aren't you all lawyers?" Kirill remarked casually as he packed his things. "Aren't we all the same?"

"That's different," the lawyer remarked. "I'm your public interest lawyer, but they aren't."

As he spoke, he turned his head to look in the direction of the director's office.

He clicked his tongue, seemingly still savoring the man's airs, and repeated, "That's different."

Kirill wasn't very cultured and didn't quite understand the specific differences.

But then he suddenly realized that he was truly free.

Within a short hour, his life experiences were like a rollercoaster, the overwhelming sensations belatedly catching up with him and leaving him dizzy and disoriented.

"So," he looked at Nastya, "we're really free?"

"Really," Nastya said with a smile, "we are truly free."

The lawyer standing nearby coughed twice and said, "Gentlemen, let me go out with you. There's a surprise waiting for you outside."

""

The two exchanged a glance, then asked in confusion, "A surprise?"

The three of them pushed open the doors of the South Midtown Police Station in Manhattan and were immediately stunned.

The area was filled with media vehicles, and dozens of reporters and photographers from different channels were crouching at the entrance of the police station, carrying their cameras and microphones.

As soon as they saw them come out, they immediately surrounded them.

"Congratulations on your marriage! This is FOX News, say a few words?"

"Do the flags you're waving have any special meaning?"

"Why would a Russian choose the Reichstag Building as their climbing target?"

Finally, a reporter suddenly shouted, "Give them a kiss!"

At first, no one paid any attention to the suggestion, but soon the reporters and photographers took a closer look and shouted in unison, "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"

Kirill and Nastya exchanged a helpless glance, then excitedly embraced and kissed.

Immediately, flashes, shutter sounds, and whistles erupted.

A public interest lawyer, waiting to capitalize on the situation, immediately declared loudly, "I am their public interest lawyer, and through my tireless coordination..."

"The director returned to his office and did not speak to Arthur, who was sitting across from him at the desk, as soon as he entered. Instead, he sat back down in his chair and poured himself a cup of coffee."

Arthur, dressed in a suit, smiled nonchalantly.

After taking a sip of coffee, the bureau chief suppressed his dissatisfaction and said to Arthur, "...the person is gone."

.

Arthur pointed to his phone and smiled, "I saw it, they've started a live stream again. Thanks for working overtime, Chief."

"LW Group's sponsorship funds for the NYPD's ESU and Midtown South Precinct," he said, "will be in the bank account within seven business days."

The bureau chief was extremely dissatisfied with the big corporations' attitude and mindset of doing things based on money. Moreover, for someone like him who had a deep affection for America and New York since childhood, to let a Russian couple climb to the top of the Empire State Building, one of the symbols of America, and then have to let them go in the end? Just thinking about it made him go crazy.

He picked up his coffee cup again, trying to extinguish the flames in his heart by drinking hot coffee, but in the sweltering heat of 8...

Hot coffee obviously won't work in the month.

He glanced at it subconsciously, took a bottle of drink from the small freezer, unscrewed it, and chugged half of it straight from the bottle.

After finishing his drink, he looked at Arthur across from him, and then at the LW sports drink in his hand.

His expression twisted even more when he saw the logo above.

"What's their relationship with the LW Group?" he asked in a muffled voice. "Why would we help them? Do you have that much money?"

Arthur chuckled upon hearing this: "Is it possible that LW just wants to be friends with the director?"

"Nonsense," the bureau chief shook his head and scoffed, "Everyone knows that your LW boss, Li Wei, is a big star and a tycoon now, associating with high society. How could he possibly associate with ordinary folks like us?"

"You flatter me, Chief," Arthur chuckled. "My personal guess is that the boss, being a young man, simply hopes Kirill and Nastya can have a happy ending. Besides, no one actually got hurt in the process, right?"

The bureau chief wanted to loudly retort, saying that he had damaged the spiritual symbol of America!

But after thinking about it for a moment, he finally just snorted and didn't say another word.

On the one hand, he actually had neither the right nor the ability to obstruct Arthur's actions.

After all, Arthur came with the understanding of the Empire State Building owners and the district attorney's decision not to prosecute.

With both sides appeased, the police station has no reason not to release the person.

On the other hand, Arthur offered a substantial amount of sponsorship.

With this money, the bonuses and benefits for his young men in the coming months can be increased, and they can also get more equipment.

Thinking about all this, and the gratitude and attitude of his subordinates, the director's heart became very complicated and conflicted.

Arthur saw that the director had fallen silent and assumed it was a sign that he was being asked to leave.

He stood up naturally, elegantly patted his suit jacket, picked up his briefcase, and took out a business card: "It's too late today, so I won't disturb the director's rest any longer. This is my business card. Please feel free to call me anytime if you have any questions."

The director hesitated for a moment, then took out his personal business card from his drawer, handed it to Arthur, and saw him out the door.

Arthur smiled and greeted the officers on duty as he strode out of the police station.

By this time, the reporters gathered at the entrance had already chased after Kirill and Nastya. Arthur found his Volvo in the parking lot, got in, and slowly started the car.

He now earns over a million US dollars a year from LW, enough to buy a Mercedes, BMW, or Porsche, and if he grits his teeth, a Lamborghini or Ferrari isn't out of the question.

He simply prefers reliable, stable, and safe car models.

Fasten his seatbelt, Arthur opened his phone, and underlined "Police Station" in his notes app, marking it as complete.

The two items marked on the front are communicating with Empire Estate Trust and having dinner with the district attorney.

Whether Imperial Estate Trust, the owner of the Empire State Building, decides to hold Kirill and others accountable is crucial.

Fortunately, the two major shareholders behind the Empire State Property Trust are the Myrkin family of New York and the Qatar Investment Authority.

After hearing that Li Wei's LW was going to get involved in this matter, their superiors tacitly gave Li Wei face and chose not to pursue the matter.

The Empire State Building is even planning to contact Kirill and Nastya to launch a rooftop proposal package, complete with helicopter filming, but it will be very expensive.

The local prosecutor was initially conflicted because Empire Realty Trust was not pursuing the matter.

But what Arthur said during dinner completely changed his mind.

"Prosecutor Wharton, your term is almost over," Arthur said over dinner. "Don't you think this is a great publicity opportunity?"

"When no one is harmed, the law shows compassion and leniency. Doesn't that demonstrate your competence and compassion as a district attorney?" he said. "Voters love to hear stories like that."

This statement struck a chord with the local prosecutor.

Arthur closed the memo app, called Levi to report on the progress, then put down his phone, started the car, drove out of the parking lot, and headed home.

New York, Long Island, at Levi's estate.

"Okay, thanks for your hard work," Li Wei said into his phone while lying in bed. "Go to work tomorrow and collect your $10 overtime pay. Just say it was me who said it... It's okay, you've worked hard. Keep it up."

After hanging up the phone, he shouted into the bathroom, "It's all done!"

"So fast!" Anya poked half of her body out of the bathroom. "I thought I'd have to wait until the next day."

"After all, it was your request," Li Wei said, placing his hands behind his head and carefully admiring Anya's exposed half of her body. "I'll do whatever it takes tonight to make it happen for you."

Anya's wet hair draped over her shoulders, water droplets dripping from her hair down to her jawline, across her collarbone and waistline, and down her thighs to the ground, the movement of her hair smooth and flowing, a sight that was quite pleasing to the eye for Li Wei.

He had just finished fighting Anya, and although he could, he had no intention of picking up his spear and riding a horse again for the time being.

"Thank you so much, darling," Anya said, clearly touched by Li Wei's words. "I was just saying it casually; you didn't have to go to so much for me..."

""

Li Wei glanced at the system panel and said, "It's alright, it's what I should do."
