Chapter 488 Owen Cross Leaves the Team

Chapter 488 Owen Cross Leaves the Team (Seeking Monthly Tickets)

In Indianapolis, at the Colts' training facility, hurried footsteps echoed down the corridor.

Irving Cross strode toward the coach's office, his small backpack swaying behind him.

He bought the backpack before he started the drug program, and it fit his body size quite well at the time. However, after he joined Eli Lilly's drug program, he gained more than 20 kilograms and became much larger. The backpack now looked tiny and somewhat comical on him.

However, no one in the Little Horse Team dared to laugh at him for this.

The equipment manager pushed a cart full of protective gear over. When he saw Owen Cross walking aggressively towards him from afar, he immediately pretended to stop casually against the wall, clearing the entire corridor. Then, he lowered his head, took out his phone, and pretended to check a message.

Irving Cross saw all of this, but he had more important things to do at the moment.

His mind was still buzzing.

LW's fundraising was very successful. Damn it, what makes Li Wei so successful?

The valuation of $1000 billion is severely undervalued, and the secondary market is going crazy for it. People all over the world are waving banknotes and lining up to beg Li Wei to take their money, but Li Wei still doesn't care.

"Are you all that despicable?" Owen Cross gritted his teeth.

After this round of financing, although Li Wei's shareholding ratio decreased slightly, he still holds more than 65% of the shares. Based on the financing level in the secondary market, his wealth has exceeded US$750 billion, firmly placing him in the top 20 of the Forbes Global Rich List.

Li Wei is not even 21 years old yet.

A football player of similar age who retired after only one year of playing, one Asian and one Chinese, broke into a game that only whites and blacks could play, trampled their most prized national sport underfoot, achieved unprecedented and unparalleled results, and is now inducted into the Hall of Fame and plundering America's wealth at will.

The more Irving Cross thought about it, the angrier he felt.

What angered him even more was that Levi, whom he hated the most, was still being heavily promoted by the NFL, becoming a new generation of superstar and a wealth-creating legend.

Want to become a billionaire? Take a look at Li Wei.

As for Irving Cross, he broke the record, and the trending topics were all about Levi's record being broken. The comments section was flooded with accusations of being a drug addict and a fake, and nobody acknowledged him.

Damn, he's the best athlete in the world.

Irving Cross no longer gets any thrill from breaking Levi's records, and he can no longer talk about showing off or making money. Although he desperately flaunts his luxury cars and the women around him on his social media accounts, only he and those escorts know that after each photo and video shoot, he can only ask them to leave and sign a confidentiality agreement.

But Owen Cross has to win something; he has to beat Levi.

He once came across a video that said, "Just how luxurious is Li Wei's life? This video will tell you."

He watched the video through gritted teeth.

It was mentioned that Levi's private jet was not the latest model, while Gulfstream had recently released a newer version.

He wants the team to charter a brand-new Gulfstream G800 for him, exclusively for him, newer and bigger than the one Levi's.

That makes perfect sense.

He didn't stop when he reached the door; he pushed it open and went straight into the coach's office.

As a result, he was stunned when he pushed the door open and entered.

Head coach Shane Steichen is not alone in his office.

Sitting opposite him was a young man about the same age as Irving Cross.

The second team's running back, what was his name again? A thought flashed through Irving Cross's mind: Hall? Or Howard?

"What are you doing?" He stared at head coach Shane Steichen, his tone as if he were catching them in the act of adultery. "What are you talking about?"

The second team's running back shrank back and subconsciously looked at head coach Shane Steichen.

Without looking up, the head coach said, "Get out, knock on the door, and come back in when I call you."

Irving Cross didn't even bother to wiggle his leg; he went straight to the running back and demanded, "What are you doing here?"

The young man was sandwiched between Irving Kroos and the head coach, so scared he didn't dare to breathe.

Head coach Shane Steichen closed his laptop, leaned back lazily in his chair, glanced at the young man, and said, "That's all for today, we'll continue tomorrow."

The young second-team running guard breathed a sigh of relief, immediately stood up, turned around and left with a snap!

Irving Cross raised his arm and braced himself against the doorframe, blocking his way.

"Hall? Or Howard?" He stared at the second team running back's face. "What are you doing here?"

"Let him go, Owen Cross," Shane Steichen snapped. "Or you'll regret it."

Irving Kroos scoffed. "Regret? Make me regret it? I'm the absolute core of the team now. You think I'd regret it?"

"You're welcome to try," Shane Steichen said forcefully.

Irving Cross stared at the unusually assertive head coach for a few seconds before finally lowering his arm and letting the young running back pass.

But this did not appease him. As he left, Owen Cross gave him a hard shove from behind.

"Speak," head coach Steichen rubbed his temples, "What is it?"

Irving Cross said, "I want a charter plane."

Shane Steichen frowned. "Reason."

"The Giants chartered a plane for Levi before," Owen Cross said matter-of-factly. "I want the same treatment, and I want it to be even better. I want the latest Gulfstream G800."

"This request is unreasonable," Shane Steichen rejected without hesitation. "No way, the team's expenses are already too high."

"I checked, 16 charter flights a year would only cost $240 million," Irving Cross said. "There's no way the team doesn't have that kind of money."

"With such a high salary, can't you pay for it yourself?"

"I can pay, but it doesn't make sense," Irving Cross said irritably. "I want to be like Levi, you know? I want the team to cover my expenses."

"Dream on," Shane Steichen said.

"Then my performance on the field might be affected," Irving Cross threatened. "How will you explain that to Eli Lilly?"

Shane Steichen chuckled and shrugged. "I was still considering it, but you just happened to walk in."

His expression was one of utter confidence, as if Irving Cross's words were nothing.

"Starting today," the head coach said, staring at Irving Kroos, "you're being relegated to the reserve team."

"What?" Owen Cross seemed puzzled, pointing to himself. "Are you talking to me?"

"You're being reassigned to the second team. Which word don't you understand?" Shane Steichen said. "It's effective starting today. Someone will move your locker there for you."

Owen Cross slammed his hand on the table.

"How dare you?!" He glared at the head coach. "I'm the best running back in the world! I broke the record! Didn't you see my record?!"

"This is a team game!" Shane Steichen slammed his fist on the table. "Do you think you can perform so well if no one creates opportunities or space for you?"

"9

"I'm the best running back in the world!" Irving Cross roared.

"You're nothing!" Shane Steichen roared back. "Starting today, you're relegated to the second team!"

"This wasn't your decision," Irving Cross said, his chest heaving. "Who is it? Eli Lilly? David Sterling? Is it him?"

His plan was spearheaded by Eli Lilly, the new owners of the Colts; a manager alone couldn't have accomplished something like that.

As expected, Shane Steichen did not object.

Irving Cross's mind drifted to that intensive care unit in New York, and he remembered that face that, even while lying in bed, still held a haughty air and a subtle dislike for him.

Without a word, he turned around and slammed the door shut.

He neither went to the second team's locker room to report, which would have been an insult to him, nor did he go back to his apartment to pack his things. Instead, he went straight to the airport with his small backpack and bought a ticket for the earliest flight to New York.

Evening in Manhattan.

The rain was drizzling, but Irving Cross felt my heart was burning.

Standing in the rain, he suddenly felt very handsome.

He quickly hailed a taxi and arrived at the hospital. When the elevator doors to the VIP floor opened, he noticed that there were more people at the end of the corridor, and it was busier.

He stepped forward, preparing to enter David Sterling's hospital room—

"Mr. Cross," David Sterling's assistant stopped him.

"I need to see Sterling," Owen Cross said.

"Please wait a moment."

The assistant picked up the landline on the table, said a few words, nodded, and hung up.

"Mr. Sterling said he's unavailable right now," the assistant said.

"Why?" Owen Cross asked. "I'm here, and I need a reason."

"No reason," the assistant shook his head, "You'd better leave first, otherwise..."

He turned his head and looked at the several burly bodyguards standing at the door. They looked bigger than Owen Cross, and almost all of them were over two meters tall.

Irving Cross stared at the room for a moment, then turned around without a word and walked into the elevator.

He went straight back to his apartment and drew all the curtains tightly shut.

He simply pulled out his SIM card and refused to answer any calls.

They reset the apartment's entrance password and deleted all the information of the team doctor, masseur, and others who had already registered at the apartment gate.

He only kept his social media accounts and didn't unfollow these people, after all, it's still necessary to maintain a communication channel.

After doing all that, Irving Cross downed a bottle of wine and fell into a deep sleep.

He had a beautiful dream.

He dreamt that after he disappeared, the whole world came looking for him. The second team's running back knelt down and begged him, and head coach Shane Steichen personally came to his door to say that the charter flight service he requested had been arranged.

Even David Sterling went to his home to thank him for trampling on Levi's record and said that Eli Lilly would fully support him in regaining his virility as a normal man.
