Chapter 114 King vs. King
Chapter 114 King vs. King
The council chamber fell silent for a few seconds.
"Pass the word down, everyone get ready."
The pirate who delivered the message took his orders and ran off.
Kro adjusted his glasses.
"King, Kaido has come in person—"
"Come on then," Norton interrupted him, a slight smile playing on his lips. "I was just thinking of meeting him."
A sense of unease hung in the air on the sea breeze. In the harbor of Nestad, over fifty ships had already set sail, their cannons jutting out from the sides, gleaming coldly in the morning light.
The pirates took their positions, their palms sweating as they gripped their weapons.
"They're here!"
Someone shouted from the lookout tower.
On the sea surface, a black dot is growing larger.
The Beasts Pirates' flag became clearer and clearer—a skull, two crossed bones, and a flame-like pattern on the back.
A ship.
There is only one.
But a huge figure stood at the bow of the ship; its curved horns could be seen from several nautical miles away.
Norton stood at the bow of the White Pearl, squinting as he looked over there.
Steel Hand walked up to him.
"Just one?"
"Just one."
"That Kaido guy—" Tsunade took a swig of sake, "Is he really fearless, or does he think we're not worthy of letting him bring more men?"
Norton didn't say anything.
Kro's voice came through the loudspeaker Den Den Mushi.
"Attention all squads, target is within firing range. Follow my command."
The ship was getting closer and closer.
Three nautical miles.
Two nautical miles.
One nautical mile.
"Fire!!"
boom!!
More than fifty ships opened fire simultaneously! Shells rained down on the ship like a storm! Firelight illuminated half the sky, and smoke instantly filled the entire harbor!
next second.
The huge figure at the bow of the ship moved.
Kaido raised the Eight-Armed Swordsmanship Staff in his hand, and the spiked club, thicker than a man's waist, drew a dark arc in the morning light. BOOM! ...
A visible shockwave exploded from the tip of the rod, spreading forward in a fan shape!
The shells exploded one after another the instant they hit the shockwave! The flames from the explosions merged into one, like festive fireworks, spreading a magnificent wall of fire in the sky!
The smoke of battle has cleared.
The ship sailed out of the blast area unharmed.
Kaido stood at the bow of the ship, with the Eighth Prince on his shoulder, his bearded face bearing an indescribable expression.
The port was deathly silent.
"What is that thing—"
Someone murmured.
"One blow—and all the shells exploded?"
"That was over fifty ships firing simultaneously—"
The pirates' faces grew paler by the day. They had crammed on knowledge about the New World, memorized the bounties of the Four Emperors, and knew how strong Kaido was. But knowing was one thing, seeing it with their own eyes was quite another.
That kind of power was beyond their comprehension.
"It's over————"
Someone whispered.
"That's one of the Four Emperors—"
"Can we really win?"
Whispers spread like a plague among the crowd. Those pirates who were once full of confidence now looked utterly insecure.
"Hehehehehe"
A chilling laugh suddenly rang out.
Moria stepped out from behind the crowd, a twisted excitement on his pale face.
His eyes were fixed on the ship in the distance, on that huge figure, and something burned in his pupils.
"Kaido—Kaido—"
He murmured, his voice growing louder and louder.
"Let me go! Norton! Let me go!"
He turned his head sharply to look at Norton, his eyes bloodshot.
Norton glanced at him.
"no."
Moria was stunned.
"Why?!"
"Going now would be suicide."
Norton's tone was calm. "Your injuries haven't fully healed, and your domineering aura hasn't returned to its peak. What could you possibly do there?"
Moria opened his mouth, but couldn't say a word.
"There will be an opportunity," Norton said, "but not today."
He turned around and looked at the ship that was getting closer and closer.
"Today is mine."
Before he finished speaking, Norton had already leaped over the ship's side!
He landed on the sea, creating ripples with his footsteps, and then began to run wildly. His silver hair stretched into a line in the sea breeze, and his black cashmere coat fluttered behind him. With each step, a white wave would burst open on the sea! His speed was astonishing, like a cannonball flying close to the surface of the sea!
Everyone at the port was stunned.
"The admiral—"
"They ran across the sea on foot?!"
"Those are the Four Emperors!"
Steel Hand took a swig of wine and smirked.
"That kid—"
On that ship, Kaido narrowed his eyes slightly, watching the silver-haired figure rushing towards him, and as the face became clearer and clearer, he suddenly laughed.
"Ooh-ooh ...
'
He laughed so loudly that the boat rocked.
"Interesting! Very interesting!"
Jin stood behind him, his black wings slightly spread. He took a step forward.
"Brother Kaido, let me go."
"Need not."
Kaido raised his hand to stop him.
"This is my prey."
He tucked the eight precepts back into his belt and took a deep breath—
Blue-green scales surged from its skin, its body rapidly expanded, its head elongated, and its limbs transformed into sharp claws! Its long dragon tail lashed out from behind, whipping violently through the air!
boom!
The shockwave exploded, and the seawater surged!
In the blink of an eye, a blue dragon hundreds of meters long coiled on the sea!
The blue-green scales gleamed with a cold light in the morning sun, the long dragon whiskers fluttered in the sea breeze, and the amber vertical pupils were fixed on the approaching silver-haired figure.
The harbor was deathly silent.
Then someone exclaimed.
"A dragon—it's a dragon!!"
"The legendary dragon! It really exists!!"
"Those giant horns—what on earth is that thing?! Is it a monster?!"
Moria stood at the bow of the ship, looking at the blue dragon, his expression extremely complex.
He remembered the burning land behind the bell, the torn-up villagers, and himself kneeling in the ruins, watching helplessly as the monster swaggered away.
how many years.
That monster hasn't changed at all.
Norton stopped on the sea.
He stood less than two hundred meters from the Azure Dragon, looking up at the enormous creature. Sunlight streamed in from behind the dragon, casting a shadow on his face.
"dragon?"
He smiled.
"That's interesting."
Kaido lowered his head, his amber vertical pupils staring at him.
"Kid, you're very brave."
His voice was like thunder, rolling and spreading across the sea.
"There are very few people in this world who would dare to charge in alone."
Norton didn't speak, he just clenched his fist.
The next second—
He disappeared!
Kaido's pupils suddenly contracted!
boom!!!
He punched the dragon's head!
The force of that punch was like hundreds of mountains pressing down at once! Kaido's massive dragon head was smashed down violently, and the surrounding seawater exploded, creating giant waves thousands of meters high!
Kaido's mind went blank.
In that instant, he felt as if he had returned to thirty years ago. He had returned to the Valley of the Gods, to that battle that changed everything.
The man wearing the dog-head hat also had the same fists, the same unreasonable power.
Karp.
He remembered that name.
Then he came to his senses and laughed even louder, so loudly that the entire sea trembled!
"Hehehe!! This is interesting! So interesting!"
He opened his dragon mouth, and a blazing light erupted from deep within his throat—BOOM!
Heat!
A pillar of fire, like magma, erupted from the dragon's mouth, instantly evaporating the seawater in its path! White steam shot into the sky, creating a vacuum zone hundreds of meters long on the sea surface!
Norton stood still, not flinching, as the pillar of fire engulfed him.
Steam filled the air, obscuring everything.
At the port, Nami's face turned deathly pale.
"Norton!!"
A steel hand pressed down on her shoulder.
"Don't rush."
The steam dissipated.
Norton stood in the same spot, white smoke rising from his body. His coat was scorched in several places, revealing his bronze skin underneath. But there wasn't even a single red mark on that skin.
He raised his head, looked at the azure dragon, and the smile on his lips deepened.
"this one?"
Kaido's pupils suddenly contracted.
The next second, Norton was already in front of him!
He gripped the dragon horn, thicker than his own body, and with a powerful push from his fingers, his muscles bulged. "Up!!"
He lifted that azure dragon, which was hundreds of meters long, right off the sea!
Kaido's massive body traced an arc through the air, and then... Boom!
It crashed into the dense forest of the ancient island!
Giant trees fell, and dust billowed into the sky! The entire island trembled!
The harbor was deathly silent.
The pirates gaped, but couldn't utter a sound.
Those are the Four Emperors.
That's the strongest creature in the world.
Was he thrown onto the island by the admiral?
On that ship, everyone in the Beasts Pirates was stunned.
"Brother Kaido—"
Someone murmured.
Jin's pupils suddenly contracted. He abruptly spread his wings, ready to charge out!
"stop!"
A voice came from the direction of the port.
Jin turned around.
On the sea, more than fifty ships had already formed a battle array. All the cannons were pointed at this ship. Several people stood on the bow.
Steel Hand. Jinbe. Moria.
Steel Hand tossed the wine jug aside and stretched his wrists.
"No one else should interfere in the battle between kings."
Jinbe didn't speak, but simply took a step forward. His eyes were fixed on Jin, and the meaning in them was clear.
Moria laughed.
"Jin, it's been a long time."
Jin looked at them, then at the dust-filled forest on the island.
He remained silent for a few seconds.
"You think you can stop me?"
"Want to give it a try?" Steel Hand beckoned with his finger.
Jin didn't move.
He simply looked at Moria, his voice as cold as ice.
"Moria, have you forgotten?"
Moriah's smile froze for a moment.
"Brother Kaido will not lose."
On the island.
Smoke and dust filled the air, and the remains of the giant tree lay scattered haphazardly across the ground. The deep crater created by the hundreds-of-meters-long figure tore a gruesome wound through the dense forest.
Kaido climbed out of the pit.
He shook his head, pressed his hand to his forehead, and the long dragon tail swung, hitting a broken tree next to him with a crack—the tree trunk shattered in response.
"Woo-hoo-hoo————"
He chuckled, a low, muffled laugh like thunder rumbling from the depths of his chest. The dragon scales faded, the horns retracted, and he transformed back into human form. The Eight Precepts Staff was now in his hand, its shaft covered in dirt and wood chips.
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from all around.
Kaido raised his head.
Deep in the dense forest, pairs of eerie green eyes are lighting up.
One. Two. Three. Ten. More.
The monsters emerged from the shadows—there were skeletal reptiles over ten meters tall, long-legged female monsters with eight legs, and lone reef bull demons covered in thick hide. They stared at the behemoth that had invaded their territory, letting out low growls.
Kaido glanced at those things.
"roll."
The monsters didn't roll.
The foremost skeletal reptile opened its massive jaws and let out a deafening roar—
The next second, the Eight Precepts were already in front of it.
boom!!!
The skull-like reptile's head exploded like a watermelon! Green fluid and bone fragments splattered everywhere! Its massive body swayed, then crashed to the ground!
The other monsters were stunned for a moment, then pounced at the same time!
Kaido, wielding the Eight Precepts, faced the group of monsters, defeating them one by one with his staff.
Boom! The head of a long-legged female monster exploded!
Boom! The spine of a lone reef bull demon was broken!
Boom! Another skeleton reptile snapped in half!
With each swing of the baton, a monster fell.
Those ferocious beasts that the cadres considered worthy of a life-or-death struggle were like paper in his hands. Wherever the baton passed, flesh and blood flew, bones shattered, and screams of agony rose and fell.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the deep pit.
Norton landed on the canopy of a giant tree and looked down at the branch he had broken.
"It's a bit far."
He said it softly.
A rustling sound also came from all around.
The monsters that had been drawn by the commotion on Kaido's side discovered their prey here.
Several smaller skeletal reptiles poked their heads out from behind the tree, staring at the silver-haired human, their mouths dripping with sticky saliva.
Norton glanced at them.
Then he jumped down from the treetop.
The first skeletal reptile lunged forward, and Norton punched it in the face with his massive jaws.
boom! !
The skull-like reptile's head caved in, its eyes bulging out of their sockets. Its massive body flew backward, crashing through three giant trees before plunging into a thicket of bushes, where it lay motionless.
The second one lunged from the side.
Norton turned sideways and punched it in the neck.
Crack—the sound of a neck vertebra breaking was as crisp as snapping a dry twig. The monster was dead before it even hit the ground.
The third head, the fourth head, the fifth head —
One punch, one kill.
There were no superfluous moves, no fancy gestures. With each punch, a monster fell. Green fluids, shattered bones, and splattered flesh and blood spread out around him.
Three minutes later, the last lone reef bull demon let out a mournful cry and turned to run away.
The monsters that were still alive had long since fled. They huddled behind trees in the distance, staring at the two humans, whimpering in fear, and dared not approach again.
Norton shook the blood off his hands and looked up.
On the other side of the pit, Kaido was standing amidst a pile of monster corpses, with Eight Guards on his shoulder, also watching him.
The two looked at each other from a distance of several hundred meters.
The dense forest suddenly fell silent.
The monsters ran away. The wind stopped. Even the leaves ceased to rustle. Only the stench of blood lingered in the air, thick and unmistakable.
Kaido raised the Eight Fasting Rings and pointed them at Norton.
"Kid, you're the first one who dares to charge at me all by himself."
He lowered the eight precepts from his shoulders and grasped the end of the staff with both hands.
"Let me see how many blows you can take!"
