Rampaging Through the Heavens: Starting by sending Chan Ho-nam to Stanley
Chapter 184 When the East Is Dark, the West Is Bright
Chapter 184 When the East Is Dark, the West Is Bright
This time it was a young man, holding a camera, speaking directly into the lens.
He had a scar on his face that had scabbed over, but it still looked shocking.
"We were among the first media outlets to arrive at the scene."
His voice was somewhat hurried.
"When we received the news, we thought it was just a normal family dispute. When we arrived and saw the house, we didn't think there was anything unusual about it."
He raised his hand and pointed to his face.
"When we went inside, we found small toys and Lego bricks flying everywhere in the room."
"Those things were like they were alive, rampaging around the room."
"A block flew straight at me. I couldn't dodge it. It hit my face and I bled on the spot."
He paused, a hint of lingering fear in his expression.
"I've been a photographer for so many years and I've never seen anything like this before. It's definitely not a prank, absolutely not."
Screen switch.
Two police officers, one old and one young, stood side by side in front of the camera.
The older one was in his forties, and his face looked tired.
The younger one was in his early twenties, and his expression still looked somewhat immature.
The old policeman spoke, his voice hoarse.
"That night we received a call reporting a domestic dispute."
"When we arrived at the scene, the family was terrified. They were all pale and could barely speak."
He paused.
"We searched the house thoroughly, but found nothing."
Just as I was about to leave, I heard a noise coming from the living room.
"We rushed downstairs and saw a chair that started moving on its own."
His eyes narrowed slightly.
"I saw with my own eyes that chair move out of the corner, slide across the floor, and slide all the way to the center of the living room."
"No one touched it, nothing pushed it, it just slid by itself for several meters."
The young policeman nodded in agreement.
"We also checked under the chair for any wires wrapped around it, wheels, or any hidden mechanisms."
"But nothing was found; it was just an ordinary chair."
Screen switch.
A bespectacled, bearded man appeared on the screen.
He was wearing a plaid suit and tie, and had a serious expression, looking like a university professor.
The host's voice came from off-screen.
"Maurice is an engineering consultant, but he also has another identity: an advisor to the Paranormal Society."
Morris adjusted his glasses and spoke fluently to the camera.
"I believe this incident is undoubtedly a paranormal event."
His voice was very persuasive, like he was giving an academic presentation.
"The amount of evidence we found in this case is staggering."
"There are witness testimonies, physical evidence, video footage, and audio recordings—everything you could want. These pieces of evidence corroborate each other, forming a complete chain of evidence."
He paused.
"As an engineer, I'm used to letting the data speak for itself."
"And every piece of data here points to the same conclusion: there is some kind of supernatural presence in this house."
The camera cuts back to the host.
"but."
He paused, a meaningful smile playing on his lips.
"Anita, as a psychic and lecturer at North London Polytechnic, has a different opinion on this."
The last shot.
A woman in business attire sits in an office with a row of bookshelves in the background.
She was in her thirties, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, with a calm expression and sharp eyes.
"The main character in this incident is a child."
Her voice was calm, but every word was spoken clearly.
"And the kids are quite talented at playing pranks."
She looked at the camera as if she were talking to the audience.
"I have studied many so-called paranormal events, and found that the vast majority of them were just children's pranks."
"They want to get attention, they want to be the center of attention, they want adults to believe they are special."
"So they will make up stories and create illusions."
She paused.
"I can find scientific explanations for all the evidence Morris mentioned, those so-called 'paranormal phenomena.'"
"The chair moved? It could be due to the floor tilting and vibration."
"Objects flying around? It's probably some kind of air current phenomenon."
"Ghostly figures? It might just be an optical illusion."
The image freezes on her face.
The host's voice rang out.
What is the truth?
"Please join us in exploring."
[To be continued...]
"Snapped!"
One hand picked up the remote and turned off the TV.
The screen went black, revealing Ed's excited face.
He turned to look at his wife, Rowling, his face beaming with barely suppressed joy.
"I never expected there to be such talented people here!"
His eyes were shining, and he was as energetic as if he had been injected with chicken blood.
From the show he just watched, he realized that the person who planned it was a genius!
Both sides presented their arguments, various paranormal phenomena, and numerous witness testimonies... police officers, neighbors, photographers, engineers, psychics, scientists... each one spoke with reason and evidence, each one convincing.
That final "To be continued" was a stroke of genius.
It whetted the audience's appetite, making them eager to know what will happen in the next episode.
Ed was certain that this show would be a hit!
Agreeing to participate in this program was definitely the best decision he and Rowling ever made.
They will shine on the show!
They will prove those so-called "whistleblowers" wrong!
They will regain the audience's trust!
Unexpectedly, when things are dark in the east, they are bright in the west.
Ed was secretly delighted and had already begun to imagine the wonderful life ahead.
More TV invitations, more speaking opportunities, more book publications, more money.
He couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Enfield town.
At Peggy's house.
The sky was still overcast; the rain had stopped, but the air was still damp.
There were few pedestrians on the street, and occasionally a car would drive by, splashing water all around.
Morris stood on the steps, followed by two men.
He knocked on the door.
The door opened, and Peggy appeared in the doorway.
She looked tired, with heavy bags under her eyes, clearly indicating that she hadn't slept well for a long time.
Her gaze fell on Maurice, then shifted to the two people behind him.
Peggy.
Morris explained.
"They are an exorcist couple from America. This is Ed, and this is Rowling."
Peggy looked them over.
Ed was wearing a dark jacket, his hair was neatly combed, and he had a professional smile on his face.
The smile was just right, neither overly enthusiastic nor cold.
Rowling stood beside him, wearing a simple sweater with her hair tied back.
She didn't smile, but her gaze swept across the house as if she were examining something.
After exchanging pleasantries, the group went inside the house.
The living room was small and somewhat dimly lit.
The furniture was arranged neatly, but it always gave people a feeling of oppression.
