Chapter 224 Assistant

Chapter 224 Assistant (Part 2)

Wei Hongsi asked, "Besides speed reading, do you have any other special skills?"

Liu Lu said, "I understand English and G language, and I can use J language and KR language for daily conversations; in addition, I have a good understanding of information security and data protection, and I have some practical experience."

Wei Hongsi thought to himself, "She really is a special talent." It wouldn't be difficult to arrange suitable work for her based on her expertise, but she wasn't really coming to work at Zhiwei; the so-called work was just a pretext. It was important to distinguish between primary and secondary tasks.

He pondered for a moment, then asked, "How long do you expect to work here?"

Liu Lu said, "I don't know either; it's not something I can decide."

Could you please describe your specific responsibilities?

"My primary responsibility is to protect your personal safety."

"Are there any secondary or other responsibilities?"

"Yes, they can assist you with some investigative work and also act as your liaison with the police."

Wei Hongsi nodded, having a basic understanding of the situation.

It seems that how long Liu Lu stays at Zhiwei largely depends on how things develop. If we take the end of the SR project as the benchmark, it should be about another month at most; if we take the progress of the case as the benchmark, it shouldn't take too long either.

He then asked, "Is there anything I need to cooperate with?"

Liu Lu asked, somewhat surprised, "Are you asking me to make a request?"

Wei Hongsi smiled and said, "Yes, if we discuss it in advance and cooperate with each other, we can better complete the task together, right?"

Liu Lu smiled and nodded: "You're right. But I'm quite surprised that you considered this and brought it up on your own initiative."

Wei Hongsi said, "I may not be able to meet all your requirements, but I think it's possible to come up with a solution that everyone can accept."

Liu Lu said, "My requirements are very simple: first, let me stay by your side as much as possible; second, tell me all your schedules in advance, and if it's a last-minute decision, please tell me immediately."

Wei Hongsi said, "The second point is not a big deal, but the first point is indeed difficult."

Liu Lu said, "That's why I said as much as possible."

Wei Hongsi nodded, then asked with some curiosity, "May I ask why this job was assigned to you?"

Liu Lu asked with a smile, "You don't really want someone watching you whether you're resting or using the restroom, do you?"

Wei Hongsi nodded: "Of course not, but it's at least more convenient for men."

Liu Lu tilted her head and looked at him: "Don't you think it looks strange to outsiders that two men are always together?"

Wei Hongsi paused for a moment. He had never had a girlfriend, and he didn't have many close female friends. He was usually with men, but even if they were close, they wouldn't be together all the time.

If what Liu Lu said is true, having a man constantly by your side is fine for three to five days, but over time it will indeed seem quite strange.

He nodded. "What you say makes some sense. But there must be other reasons, right?"

Liu Lu hesitated for a moment, then said, "Then I'll be frank. While protecting you, we also hope that someone will take action against you. In most people's eyes, women are always less of a threat, which makes the other party less hesitant."

Wei Hongsi was speechless. So he was also acting as bait; Liu Lu was there to fish with him. Thinking about it, it made sense; otherwise, why would Liu Lu protect him? It was because he was being watched by the organization Uncle Zhang belonged to.

Liu Lu asked, "You seem a little dismissive?"

Wei Hongsi shook his head: "No, it was only after you reminded me that I remembered I could play other roles."

Liu Lu said, "That's good. If you're careless, my job will be more difficult."

"Don't worry about that, I'm very concerned about my safety." Wei Hongsi paused for a moment and then said, "Since we're on this topic, could I learn more about your professional expertise so that I'd know how to cooperate with you in case of an emergency?"

Liu Lu asked him, "What would you like to know?"

Wei Hong thought for a moment and asked, "Are you a martial arts expert, capable of taking on several opponents by yourself?"

Liu Lu said, "I have received training in this area, but I'm not an expert. Don't be misled by movies and TV shows; it's very difficult for women to beat men in combat."

Wei Hongsi was somewhat surprised and asked, "Then how will you protect us?"

Liu Lu noticed that Wei Hongsi used "we" when he said it, smiled and said, "My marksmanship is very accurate, and I can call for backup at any time."

Wei Hong thought back to what had happened in the alley that night and nodded in agreement. Firearms were indeed much more powerful than fists and feet, and they were truly willing to fire.

As for Liu Lu's true identity, there's no need to ask too much; she's quite different from my brother and the others. However, we can't draw conclusions about what kind of work she can participate in based solely on her account; we still need to report to our superiors.

He thought for a moment and said, "How about this? I'll arrange an intern position for you. You'll be my assistant, and I'll handle the specific tasks. You won't have much overlap with other people's work. It'll be easier for you to leave the company once you've completed your tasks. Of course, this is also from my perspective."

Liu Lu thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "I think that's a good idea. So, where do you plan to assign me my workstation?"

Wei Hongsi said, "You can choose any of the empty workstations in the project department."

Liu Lu glanced around the office and said, "I see this place is quite spacious. How about you put a table for me near the entrance? I won't reveal any information about the company or you personally that I come into contact with here. If there's anything sensitive, you can ask me to leave."

Wei Hongsi considered it for a moment and then said, "Okay."

He called Li Xuan over, introduced Liu Lu to her, and said, "Liu Lu served as my assistant during her internship at the project department."

Her workstation is set up here; could you help her arrange it?

"Okay," Li Xuan replied, and led Liu Lu out first.

After Lu Jiaqi's work group was merged into the project, it also took over the administrative work of the project department, which was mainly handled by Li Xuan.

This is also a position that Wei Hongsi planned for Li Xuan. Once the job level assessment is completed this month, he can help her obtain her W1 certificate.

After the two left, Wei Hongsi sent a message to Director Liang, explaining that Liu Lu had come to report for duty.

Not long after, Director Liang replied to him, saying that Liu Lu was an outstanding comrade, which affirmed her identity and the tasks she was responsible for.

Wei Hongsi then asked: Is it possible to allow Liu Lu to fully participate in the work of the task force?

Director Liang replied: Yes, her professional skills should be able to help you.
