Chapter 118 Establishing a Religion

Pangu created the world, and then his primordial spirit split into three parts, which became Laozi, Yuanshi, and Tongtian Sanqing. Each of the three obtained one part of Pangu's merit in creating the world.

At this moment, the merit of creating the world within Laozi's primordial spirit was released, and it was much greater than the merit of establishing the religion.

Moreover, the merit of opening the heavens is the merit of the Great Dao, and its profound mystery is incomparable to the merit of the Heavenly Dao.

Thus, the two kinds of merit gradually merged, and under the impetus of this enormous merit, Lao Tzu's cultivation finally broke through to the realm of a sage.

"boom!"

A vast expanse of purple aura filled the heavens and earth, stretching thirty thousand miles from the east—a sign of a sage. Just as Nuwa became a sage after creating humans, Laozi also became a sage after establishing his religion.

In the primordial world, another sage was born. Endless spiritual energy from heaven and earth surged forth, flowing into Laozi's body and transforming into his sage power.

At this time, the living beings did not feel much, but Xuanhuang and Nuwa both felt that the innate spiritual energy in the world had become much thinner.

Moreover, what the two knew was that on this day, Laozi would not be the only one to attain enlightenment; Yuanshi, Tongtian, Jieyin, Zhunti, and Zhenyuanzi would also all attain enlightenment on this day.

In other words, there will be six sages born in one day. One can imagine how enormous the burden on heaven and earth would be if six sages absorbed the spiritual energy of heaven and earth together.

From that day onward, innate spiritual energy began to be officially suppressed by acquired spiritual energy, which became the main component of primordial spiritual energy.

Innate spiritual energy has become scarce. As a result, cultivation for all living beings has become much more difficult.

However, those who are most affected are those who also have the hope of attaining enlightenment.

The spiritual energy has become so thin, which means their chances of attaining enlightenment have decreased even further.

However, this is not the time to think about these things. After Laozi became a saint, the terrifying saintly pressure swept outwards in all directions, covering the entire prehistoric world.

Countless beings were forced to kneel on the ground by the sage's oppressive aura, and even powerful figures from all sides bowed slightly to Laozi to show their respect for the sage.

"It turns out that martial arts were established by Xuanhuang."

After Lao Tzu became a saint, his understanding of the secrets of heaven reached a new level, especially regarding the fate of the witch and demon races during this great calamity, and how the human race would rise completely and become the new protagonists after the calamity.

He understood everything perfectly, and finally understood why Nuwa was able to become a saint after creating humans, and why even Xuanhuang had to pass down the martial arts methods among the human race.

Is this the struggle for destiny? Lao Tzu frowned slightly, then relaxed. In any case, he had now established the Human Sect, and was no weaker than Nuwa or Xuanhuang.

It could even be said that his Golden Core Dao surpasses the martial arts of Xuanhuang. After all, martial arts are not the mainstream of the prehistoric world, just like the witchcraft of the Wu tribe. Since they are not in line with the mainstream, how can they be promoted and developed?

His Golden Core Path, which is also a type of immortal path, is more suitable for spreading among the human race.

As long as the Human Cult exists, he will steadily occupy 30% of the human race's fortune. Of course, Nuwa, as the Holy Mother of the Human Race, created the existence of the human race, so she occupies even more fortune.

Approximately 40% of humanity's destiny belongs to Nuwa. This destiny is unshakeable, unless humanity is wiped out and Nuwa recreates it.

But that would be going against the will of Heaven. Heaven would not allow it.

In addition, there is another 30% of the human race's fortune, which now belongs to Xuanhuang, but it is not stable.

Although Xuanhuang established martial arts for the human race, he did not establish a religion, so this fortune was not suppressed.

Although he couldn't immediately fathom Xuanhuang's intentions, it didn't matter, because Laozi already knew them.

On this day, not only will I attain enlightenment, but five other people will also attain enlightenment together.

Six saints in one day!

Even Lao Tzu, now a sage, finds this absurd.

It is conceivable what kind of spiritual energy the six sages absorbed on the same day would become.

This is actually a sign of a great calamity.

The changes in the spiritual energy of heaven and earth propelled the development of the Great Tribulation.

At this moment, even everyone knew that their ascension to sainthood would cause a great change in the world and accelerate the arrival of the Great Tribulation.

But no one will choose to give up.

Attaining enlightenment is within reach, yet how could I possibly give up? The principle of sacrificing a fellow Daoist rather than myself is precisely that.

Beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens, within the Xuanhuang Heaven, Xuanhuang also felt the loss of its own fortune at the moment Laozi established his teachings and became a saint.

However, Xuanhuang did not care. He did not intend to establish a religion, thus avoiding future conflicts with the saints over destiny.

Xuanhuang frowned as he thought of his second disciple, Kong Xuan.

Of his three disciples, Kong Xuan has the greatest ambition and the greatest hope of attaining enlightenment in the future.

Although he himself did not want to get involved in the struggle for destiny, Kong Xuan would probably still be drawn into it.

However, that's a matter for the future. Besides, Kong Xuan has become Zhen Yuanzi's deputy leader. If any trouble arises, it won't just be him alone.

It's not in a rush.

However, after Lao Tzu established his religion and became a saint, he no longer looked at the human race below. With a thought, he activated the Taiji Diagram.

Suddenly, a golden light flew towards Kunlun Mountain, and in the blink of an eye, Laozi brought Xuandu back to Kunlun Mountain.

"Congratulations, elder brother, on becoming a Primordial Saint." Yuanshi and Tongtian both congratulated Laozi, their gazes towards him revealing a hint of hope.

Lao Tzu nodded and said to the two, "Without establishing a doctrine, one cannot become a sage!"

When Lao Tzu's words reached the ears of Yuanshi and Tongtian, they were instantly enlightened, like a morning bell or evening drum, their eyes shining with understanding.

But he finally realized the opportunity for his own sanctification.

Yuanshi was the first to react. He summoned the Pangu Banner, stood in the air, his face solemn, and shouted to the heavens: "Heaven above, I am Yuqing Yuanshi, transformed from the primordial spirit of Pangu. Now I follow the will of Heaven, expound the secrets of Heaven, and establish a great teaching here, named Chan."

"I use the Pangu Banner, a supreme innate treasure, to suppress the destiny of the Chan Sect. The Chan Sect is established!"

As soon as Yuanshi's voice fell, the Heavenly Dao responded instantly, a booming sound arose, and vast merits descended from the void, gathering on Yuanshi's body.

Behind his head, a huge golden wheel of merit gradually formed, its dazzling golden light shining brightly in all directions.

Moreover, it wasn't just Yuanshi; at that moment, Tongtian also finally realized what was happening, his face showing determination, and he decisively unleashed his Four Swords of Zhuxian and the Zhuxian Formation Diagram.

The four swords and the array diagram combined to form a vast array, with boundless killing intent rising and attracting the killing intent of heaven and earth.

In an instant, countless beings felt as if they were facing annihilation, as if four incomparably sharp swords were hovering above their heads.

Even Laozi, who had already become a saint, couldn't help but slightly narrow his eyes when he saw the Zhuxian Sword Formation unleashed by Tongtian.

Tongtian also shouted to the heavens: "Heaven above, I am Tongtian of Shangqing, transformed from the primordial spirit of Pangu. I now establish a great sect here, called the Jie Sect. Jie means to seize a glimmer of hope. I will teach all living beings, so that all living beings may have the opportunity to attain the Dao. Anyone who is inclined toward the Dao may join my sect and cultivate my Shangqing Dao methods."

A booming voice echoed throughout heaven and earth: "I use the Immortal Slaughtering Sword Formation to suppress the destiny of my Jie Sect. The Jie Sect is established!"
