Kong Xuan then explained: "The so-called benevolence is to relieve the suffering of the common people with a kind heart; the so-called righteousness is to make heaven and earth and all living beings submit and obey; the so-called propriety is to treat each other with propriety and not have evil thoughts; the so-called wisdom is the foundation of living in the world and the theory of methods; the so-called courage is a fearless heart, fearless in all directions, and daring to be the first in the world."

Fuxi listened and nodded, saying, "Fellow Daoist's words have truly surprised me. You will surely achieve great things in the future. It is truly enviable that the Heavenly Venerable Xuanhuang has such a disciple."

"From now on, Fuxi wishes to take you as his teacher and hopes you will give him much guidance!" Fuxi was sincerely convinced and respectfully bowed to Kong Xuan, thus becoming Kong Xuan's disciple.

Kong Xuan accepted the bow readily and said with a smile, "That's excellent."

Then he took out three items and handed them to Fuxi, saying, "The great prosperity of the human race is the will of Heaven.
