Game of Thrones: Summoning the Fourth Calamity

Chapter 82: Blossoming in the Center

Braavos.

The wind blows in gusts, and the soldiers stand in rows.

Viserys's 13,000 troops joined forces with Loras's 4,000 soldiers and marched to Braavos, setting up camp on the last piece of land, separated by a swamp.

To be honest, Viserys didn't expect Braavos to be so easy to defend and difficult to attack.

Braavos is surrounded by water on all sides, with its main entrance encircled by a mountain-like island, leaving only a natural strait large enough to accommodate ocean-going merchant ships.

This import and export was not only protected by the Braavos fleet, but also by a battle fortress carved into the shape of a Titan.

It's safe to say that, aside from the Dragon Knights, it would be difficult for any army in the world to directly storm Braavos.

Fortunately, in addition to the direct attack from the near sea, Braavos' hundreds of islands divide the bay into many narrow waterways, and after crossing these waterways, numerous stone arch bridges connect the entire city.

Viserys' army could take small boats down the river to seize the stone arch bridge, and then march into Braavos in an armed force. Meanwhile, the unparalleled First Fleet would either have to watch helplessly from the coast or send its sailors ashore to engage the Dragon Clan's army in close combat.

Although Braavos has no city walls, its hundreds of islands form natural battle fortresses, making it a difficult task to conquer them one by one.

"Charge!"

"Stop fighting! There's no room left!"

"Swim across!"

Viserys was still worrying about Braavos, which was known as the Land of a Hundred Islands, when three hundred player warriors who had been sent out to launch a feint attack and test the enemy's firepower began to charge toward the nearest small island, carrying small boats that had been stolen from somewhere.

"Long live the free people of Braavos!"

"Once the Black Dragon's army breaches the city, it will enslave every one of you!"

"We fight not for Braavos, we fight for freedom!"

Flags fluttered and shouts echoed across the small island, clearly indicating that it was well-stocked with personnel and had made thorough defensive preparations as an outpost to defend against enemies from the land.

Before the three hundred players could painstakingly row their boats closer, a hail of arrows rained down from the island, instantly killing and injuring countless players on the sea.

"The river isn't deep, let's swim across!"

Some particularly clever individuals leaped off the small boat, completely forgetting they were wearing armor, and never resurfaced.

The first probing attack, which started strong but ended weakly, quickly failed. Of the three hundred players, only twenty or thirty managed to get ashore. But instead of a well-equipped infantry column, they were met by a line of lancers charging towards them.

The players were then tossed and stabbed by the lancers like skewers of meat.

"withdraw troops!"

Seeing this, Viserys could only raise his hand and give the order.

"The Braavos Islands are numerous. If each island is so well-defended, wouldn't our army be fighting until the very end?"

"Moreover, there are many islands here, and our army cannot advance unimpeded, otherwise we may lose our rear."

Inside the military tent, Viserys paced back and forth with his hands behind his back.

"Our intelligence assistant, doesn't your secret police have connections in Braavos? Could you coordinate with the army from within and capture the city in one fell swoop?"

The guild leader of the Pyromancer Guild, the grenadier commander "Minister of Revenue Non-stick Pan," rested his chin on his hand and looked at "Calling a Mouse a Duck" and asked.

Brother! We're spies, not special forces!

Do you think we're the Navy SEALs or Delta Force? Do you think we'd get arrested by the boss in someone else's territory in the middle of the night?

Ugh?

[Calling a mouse a duck] He didn't bother to answer the other party's stupid question, but suddenly a flash of inspiration struck him. He felt like he had thought of a way, but it was so fleeting that he couldn't grasp it.

Viserys also felt that he had an idea in his mind, a plan to work together from the inside and outside, and to make things happen in the center.

Is there a way for the system to let me directly mass produce units in Braavos?

For example, setting up a military outpost or something?

"Everyone, go down and rest first. Our army (players) is in high spirits. Don't stop attacking tonight. Who knows, someone might be able to take down this outpost in front of us."

After dismissing his subordinates and players from the tent, Viserys pulled the little fire elemental from his mind:

"Is there a way for the system to allow players to set up respawn points, so that players can establish a supply depot on the spot after conquering each island?"

If a supply depot is attacked, other players can simply commit suicide on the spot, then respawn at the depot, giving the attacking enemy a surprise.

In this way, the army would not need to conquer every single island. It could simply advance straight in and strike at the heart of the enemy's territory. With military stations protecting the islands along the way, there would be no fear of logistical failures or being cut off from retreat.

"And there are players in Braavos too. If they could also set up supply depots there, wouldn't the army not have to work so hard?"

Viserys became more and more excited as he spoke, completely ignoring the little fire-man's humanoid expression that said, "I can't do it."

"My great emperor, I can grant you permission to establish resurrection points for player guilds within conquered territories, but I cannot establish resurrection points in unconquered areas to achieve your strategic goal of spreading out from the center."

The little fire spirit floated directly in front of Viserys, interrupting the king's rambling and speaking bluntly.

"Never mind, as long as we can build a military post, that's fine."

Unable to establish a central stronghold, Viserys was disappointed that his army could rush towards Neptune's palace. However, as long as they could establish supply depots along the way, it would already be an incredible feat for the army.

Just imagine how this tactic can be used against those centaurs on the Dothraki plains in the future. As long as I find your stronghold, I can build outposts all the way there, squeezing out your living space and forcing you to not harass us, but only clash with my infantry in formation.

As a large number of unwilling players launched a nighttime raid, their great Viagra announced a server-wide online update:

[The Guild Outpost System is now available. Each player guild and legion can establish a resurrection point in their conquered territory. Players resurrected at the outpost will have their resurrection cost halved.]

[Fixed certain bugs in the game.]

[We will draw another 1,000 lucky winners to join the game's closed beta test.]

This update is an online update; all players do not need to log off if they wish to continue playing.

"Old...Chief, is this really going to work? I think it's a bit far-fetched. There are less than thirty of our brothers lurking in Braavos. Even if we manage to bring them out, how are we going to get them back? Are we going to kill them?"

[Flying Bat] stared speechlessly at its guild leader.

"We can't kill him. The Sea King doesn't have a second or third in command. If he dies, his men might not fight for power and cause chaos. They might even unite against us and fight to the death. That would be like trying to steal a chicken and losing the rice instead."

[Calling a mouse a duck] He imitated Viserys, pacing back and forth in his tent with his hands behind his back:

"What I mean is, these thirty people, split into two teams, one to rob the Sea King, and the other to cause chaos in the city. Remember, don't touch the merchants' property, and don't touch that so-called Iron Vault bank, just target military facilities!"
