American comics: Only I know the plot

Chapter 106 Unexpected Changes

Under the cover of gunfire, the police officers approached the bank's main entrance step by step, drawing the robbers' attention.

Li Wei, along with several special police officers, took advantage of the cover of gunfire from the front and quickly rushed in through the side door.

The lock on the side door had been broken with a crowbar, leaving a huge gap in the door panel.

The moment the door was pushed open, a strong smell of gunpowder and blood hit the door.

The pungent, unpleasant smell made Li Wei involuntarily frown and instinctively cover his nose.

The bank lobby was a complete mess, a truly appalling scene.

Overturned tables, chairs, and safes blocked the middle of the road; some of the tables and chairs were riddled with bullet holes, and wood chips were flying everywhere.

Some safes were pried open, and the banknotes inside were scattered all over the floor.

The shards of glass and scattered banknotes crunched and made a jarring sound underfoot.

The walls were riddled with bullet holes, and blood splattered on them, forming gruesome marks. The entire hall exuded a sinister and terrifying atmosphere.

Hundreds of hostages were tied to pillars next to the vault in the center of the hall, their hands tightly bound with ropes.

With a rag stuffed in its mouth, it could only make muffled sounds, its voice filled with fear and despair.

Their eyes were filled with fear, and their bodies trembled uncontrollably.

Some were as pale as paper, covered in cold sweat, while others closed their eyes and prayed silently.

Some children were so frightened that they cried out, but because their mouths were stuffed with cloth, their cries were muffled.

The intermittent sound was particularly heart-wrenching.

The red-hooded figures were scattered throughout the hall, using overturned tables, chairs, and safes as cover, and vigilantly watching their surroundings.

They all wore red hoods, revealing only pairs of fierce eyes, and gripped their guns tightly in their hands.

With guns pointed at the hostages, their eyes filled with madness and violence, they resembled a pack of irrational wild beasts, ready to shoot and injure people at any moment.

Upon seeing Li Wei and his group rush in, one of the men in red hoods immediately roared, his voice sharp and frantic.

He shouted orders to the others: "Fire! Don't let them get close! Kill them all! Nobody gets out of here alive!"

The other Red Hoods immediately turned their guns and opened fire in the direction of Li Wei and his men.

The rapid gunfire resumed, and crimson bullets rained down like raindrops.

The bullets grazed past Li Wei's ear, whistling through the air, and struck the wall behind him, leaving deep black bullet holes.

The debris splashed all over Li Wei, landing on his hair and shoulders.

Because of the speed, the blows made his whole body ache.

Li Wei reacted extremely quickly, swiftly hiding behind the overturned marble countertop.

He pressed his body tightly against the cold stone surface, dodging the bullets fired at him.

He took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.

Peeking through the gap in the counter, he cautiously observed the surrounding movements, looking for an opportunity to retaliate.

He quickly identified a man in a red hood who was pointing a gun at the hostages.

The man in the red hood was completely unsuspecting, staring menacingly at the hostage, and had no idea that Li Wei was hiding behind the counter.

Li Wei's eyes turned cold. He raised his hand and lifted the submachine gun, aiming the muzzle precisely at the red-hooded man's arm, and gently pulled the trigger.

With a "bang," a gunshot rang out, and the bullet struck the man's arm precisely, piercing his flesh. Blood gushed out instantly, staining his sleeve red.

The man in the red hood let out a muffled groan, staggered back a few steps, and dropped his gun to the ground with a clatter.

The red hood was hung on the wall, then fell to the ground, revealing a young face.

His face still had a touch of childishness; he looked to be no more than twenty years old.

But his eyes were filled with madness and violence, showing no fear whatsoever.

He clutched his bleeding wound, letting out a painful roar, his voice shrill yet still carrying a fierce edge.

He tried to bend down to pick up the gun on the ground, but because of his injured arm, he couldn't muster any strength and could only struggle in vain.

Upon seeing this, a man in a red hood immediately stopped shooting at the hostage.

He quickly filled in, pointed his gun at the counter where Li Wei was hiding, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Bullets struck the counter with a dense barrage, producing dull thuds, and stone chips fell to the ground in a flurry.

Li Wei suddenly turned to the side and quickly hid behind another marble pillar, his back pressed tightly against the cold stone surface.

He could clearly feel the vibrations of the bullets hitting the pillar, and stone chips fell onto his shoulder, icy cold.

He dared not linger for a moment. Taking advantage of the moment when the robber was changing his magazine, he once again peered through the gap in the pillar to observe his surroundings, looking for a new opportunity to fight back.

Several special police officers seized the opportunity and quickly circled around to the side.

Using the tables and chairs as cover, they cautiously rushed toward the pillar where the hostages were tied up.

Their movements were light and swift, trying to make as little noise as possible, as they attempted to take the opportunity to untie the ropes binding the hostages and move them to a safe place.

However, their actions were spotted by a Red Hood officer, who immediately turned his gun on the SWAT team and opened fire.

The scarlet bullet struck the SWAT officer's bulletproof vest with a dull thud, sending sparks flying.

The SWAT officers reacted quickly, immediately dropping to the ground to avoid the oncoming bullets.

They then quickly retaliated, and the sounds of gunfire and shouts mingled together, making the scene even more chaotic.

Li Wei seized the opportunity and rushed out from behind the pillar.

With his body slightly bent, he moved quickly, raised his hand and fired two shots, hitting the legs of two red-hooded SWAT officers who were focused on shooting.

Two shots rang out, the bullets hitting their targets precisely. The two men in red hoods fell to the ground, letting out painful cries.

His voice was harsh and stern, no longer carrying the ferocity he had before.

They tried to struggle to their feet, but were unable to move due to their leg injuries.

He could only lie on the ground, writhing in pain.

Upon seeing this, the police officers who rushed up immediately stepped forward and firmly pinned down the two men in red hoods on the ground.

Their arms were twisted behind their backs, and handcuffs were instantly placed over their hands.

They then handcuffed them to the leg of a nearby table to prevent them from struggling to escape.

After doing all that, the officers immediately joined the fight, firing at the other Red Hoods.

Gordon rushed in through the front door. Although he was not young, his marksmanship was still excellent.

He steadily raised the pistol in his hand, aimed at a red-hooded man hiding next to the safe, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

A few shots later, the man in the red hood was brought to the ground.

Before the man in the red hood could react, he fell to the ground, his gun sliding far away.

Blood gushed from his chest, and he soon stopped breathing.

The gunfight in the hall reached a stalemate. Gunshots, shouts, the sounds of tables and chairs collapsing, and the whimpers of the hostages mingled together, making one's eardrums ache.

The smell of gunpowder and blood in the air grew stronger and stronger, making it suffocating.

Li Wei's gaze remained fixed on the leader, the Red Hood, who was tall and swift in his movements.

He hid by the vault door, using the heavy iron door as cover, and kept firing his gun outwards.

His marksmanship was excellent, and he showed no intention of retreating whatsoever; he was clearly the leader of these robbers.

Just then, a man in a red hood saw that things were not going well and knew that he was in a desperate situation. A look of madness flashed in his eyes.

He suddenly pulled open the explosive pack at his waist, and the fuse was instantly ignited, emitting faint sparks.

It was obvious that he wanted to detonate the explosives and take everyone down with him.

Li Wei reacted quickly, instantly realizing his intention, and his heart tightened.

Without the slightest hesitation, he raised his hand and lifted the submachine gun, aiming the muzzle precisely at the red-hooded man's wrist, and quickly pulled the trigger.

With a "bang," a gunshot rang out, and the bullet struck his wrist precisely, instantly piercing it.

Blood gushed out, and he could no longer hold onto the explosive charge.

The explosive charge fell to the ground with a thud, the fuse still burning, and it could explode at any moment.

Just as the man in the red hood was about to bend down to pick up the explosives on the ground, he was tackled to the ground by a SWAT officer who reacted very quickly.

The SWAT officer pressed his knee firmly against his back, pinning him to the ground, and tied his hands behind his back, rendering him unable to move.

The man let out fierce curses, but he was completely helpless.

Another officer immediately rushed over and carefully picked up the explosive charge from the ground.

They quickly stuffed it into the explosion-proof container next to them, closed the lid, and tightened the switch, successfully averting the crisis.

Just then, the sirens outside the bank suddenly became more frequent.

The wailing of sirens echoed throughout the night sky.

The bomb disposal team had successfully defused the explosives at the back door, and another team of officers rushed in through the back door and launched an attack on the robbers in the center of the hall.

The Red Hoods were instantly attacked from both sides, finding themselves in a pincer movement.

Their initial arrogance was instantly suppressed, and they quickly crumbled, losing all their previous frenzy.

The remaining red-hooded figures, seeing that the situation was hopeless, knew they had no chance of winning.

Some were still unwilling to give up and tried to continue resisting, but were shot dead on the spot by the police.

Some, however, completely lost their courage, threw down their guns, covered their heads, squatted on the ground, and trembled.

They kept begging for mercy, their eyes filled with despair and fear, hoping to receive leniency from the police.

Soon after, the gunfire in the hall completely stopped, and the battle was finally over.

After a headcount, of the thirteen Red Hooded men, six were shot dead on the spot, six were captured alive, and only the leader was still putting up a stubborn resistance.

He remained hidden by the vault door, refusing to surrender.

Seeing that things were not going well and that he had nowhere to escape, the leader's eyes flashed with a hint of ruthlessness and resentment.

Taking advantage of the moment when the police officers were calming the hostages, he tried to escape through the side door of the vault.

But Li Wei had anticipated this move.

He had positioned himself at the side door of the vault, his submachine gun pointed directly at him, his eyes cold and unwavering.

"Stop running, you've run out of options. Surrender, and you might get a chance for leniency."

The man glanced at Li Wei, a hint of ruthlessness and resentment flashing in his eyes.

He suddenly raised his hand, intending to shoot Li Wei with the gun in his hand, but was tackled to the ground by two SWAT officers who rushed over from the side.

His body crashed heavily to the ground with a dull thud.

The handcuffs instantly bound his hands, but his hood hadn't been removed yet.

He continued to hurl vicious curses, struggling to break free of his restraints, but to no avail.

"Tear off his hood, and watch him closely, don't let him try anything funny."

Li Wei spoke to the special police officer beside him in a cold tone, then turned and walked toward the pillar where the hostage was tied up.

Together with the officers around him, Li Wei carefully untied the ropes binding the hostages and tore the gags out of their mouths.

After the hostages were released, some collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.

His face was filled with relief at surviving the ordeal, and tears welled up in his eyes.

Some were supporting their injured companions, their bodies trembling uncontrollably, a trace of fear still lingering in their eyes.

Some children even threw themselves into their parents' arms and cried loudly.

The crying was particularly clear in the chaotic hall, filled with grievance and fear, making one's heart ache upon hearing it.

The medical staff who had been waiting outside the bank rushed in with emergency equipment.

They quickly provided first aid to the injured hostages and police officers, and then carefully lifted the wounded into the ambulances.

The ambulance siren faded into the distance, disappearing into the Gotham night.

The white vehicle sped towards the hospital, carrying the hope of life.

Gordon leaned against a marble pillar, panting heavily.

His chest heaved violently, and his face was full of exhaustion; the battle had almost drained all his strength.

He took out his cigarette case, and his hand trembled several times before he finally managed to pull out a cigarette.

He lit it, took a deep drag, and exhaled smoke that enveloped his face.

A look of relaxation finally appeared on his face, his tense body gradually relaxed, and his eyes were full of relief at surviving the ordeal.

Li Wei walked to the center of the hall and looked at the red-hooded figure being held down by the police officers.

Their red hoods had been torn off, and their faces were filled with resentment and fear; some were even trembling.

Without exception, everyone's eyes were filled with despair, and their previous arrogance and madness were gone.

His gaze swept across the hall, taking in the mess on the floor, the scattered guns, and the red hood.

Li Wei glanced at the hostages being comforted, stood silently for a few seconds, and felt a mix of emotions.

Although the hostages were successfully rescued and the robbers were defeated, the robbery came at a considerable cost.

Just then, the communicator on Li Wei's wrist suddenly rang.

The communicator emitted a soft "beep" sound, breaking the silence in the hall.

He immediately raised his hand and pressed the answer button on the communicator.

Batman's voice came through the communicator, carrying a hint of composure.

There was also a slight scraping sound coming from the air, indicating that he was in an open area.

"Li Wei, I've arrived at the abandoned station, but there's nobody here!"

Abandoned carriages and garbage were everywhere, but there was no trace of He Mang or Gao Le. The intelligence might be faulty.

Upon hearing this, Li Wei felt his hair stand on end, and a chill ran from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.

His face turned pale instantly, his eyes filled with shock and confusion.

Marcus's intelligence has never had any problems, so why is this happening this time?

He turned abruptly, looking at the captured red-hooded figures with icy eyes.

He was filled with doubt and wanted to rush over and ask them who Marcus was.

Why is the situation different this time? Why aren't He Mang and Gao Le at the abandoned train station?

After only a few seconds of hesitation, Li Wei understood the key point.

His gaze gradually became serious, and his tone became more resolute.

He Mang and Gao Le must have learned from their previous mistakes.

Knowing their whereabouts were easily leaked, they never told these low-level robbers their true hiding place.
