Chapter 147 Mori Town (8300 words)

"I knew it! Life in Jiangcheng was too comfortable; I used up all my luck, damn it!"

The off-road vehicle's engine roared, and its rough tires scratched the road frantically, kicking up clouds of dust.

Xu Mo gripped the steering wheel with his left hand while constantly manipulating the gear lever with his right. His gaze was sharp as a knife as he scanned the bumpy road ahead, while frequently glancing at the left rearview mirror.

The scene reflected in the mirror was enough to make any experienced doomsday survivor's heart stop.

Dozens of meters away from the rear of the car, about eleven or twelve gray-black figures were crawling on all fours like starving hyenas, running wildly across the road!

They are incredibly fast, far exceeding the speed of ordinary zombies, and can even barely match the speed of an off-road vehicle in complex road conditions.

This is the Level 1 Agile mutated zombie that strikes fear into the hearts of ordinary people.

They describe withered but unusually developed limbs with bulging muscles, which can leap far with each push of the ground, and joints twist and swing at angles that defy common sense, creating a nauseating visual impact.

About a hundred meters behind these agile zombies, a dozen or so more robust but slightly slower figures, like tireless iron towers, rumbled in pursuit with heavy but determined steps. Their bodies were generally larger than before, their skin had an unhealthy bluish-gray hue, and their muscles were clearly defined, containing terrifying explosive power—these were level one strength-type mutated zombies.

Their existence means that once entangled, even a sturdy vehicle can be overturned or destroyed.

Further away, there were hundreds of ordinary zombies, their shadows looming over them.

Their movements were slow but persistent, following the sound of engines into this deadly chase.

Although ordinary zombies are slow, their sheer numbers and relentless, unwavering determination are equally chilling.

"Bang bang bang—Pfft!"

In front of the off-road vehicle, there are always some slow-reacting ordinary zombies, or ordinary zombies that happen to be in the middle of the road, unable to get out of the way.

The high-speed SUV's front end, like a heavy battering ram, crashed violently into these decaying bodies.

Dull thuds and the sickening cracking of bones echoed in succession. Scattered zombie limbs, or black and red filth exploding as bodies were run over, splattered like gruesome ink paintings onto the SUV's windshield, hood, and windows.

The foul-smelling bodily fluids and bits of flesh smeared all over the SUV's windshield, severely obstructing Xu Mo's vision. He had to turn on the wipers to clear a fan-shaped area where he could barely see what was in front of him.

The story begins at noon today.

Today marks the sixth day since Xu Mo left Jiangcheng and embarked on this long messenger journey alone.

Although the first five days of the journey had some minor setbacks, it was generally smooth sailing. Even when encountering sporadic zombies, whether ordinary or a few lone Level 1 mutants, he easily dealt with them using the mobility of his vehicle or his swift and decisive marksmanship. As a result, Xu Mo maintained a good pace of progress, advancing far more distance per day than initially conservatively estimated.

On the morning of the sixth day, when Xu Mo checked the offline map on his military tablet again, he discovered that he had already traveled more than 600 kilometers away from the Jiangcheng shelter.

This means that he is gradually venturing into the true heart of the apocalypse, which is marked on the map as an "unknown, high-risk area".

Around noon, Xu Mo briefly stopped by the roadside to rest and eat, and also to study the route ahead.

The map shows that there is a place marked "Molly Town" about 20 kilometers ahead.

The town is small, but before the disaster, small towns like this, located at transportation hubs, usually had one or two gas stations, and perhaps a small repair shop.

Xu Mo glanced at the dashboard. After several days of continuous driving, coupled with occasional detours or slow passage through complex road sections, the vehicle's fuel consumption was slightly faster than expected. The combined fuel level in the main and auxiliary fuel tanks had dropped from its initial full capacity to about two-thirds full.

Although it can still last for a long distance, it's always good to be prepared. If we can refuel in this town of Mori, or even find some extra fuel, it will undoubtedly be a great help for the rest of the journey.

"Let's go take a look," Xu Mo decided.

The safe journey of over 600 kilometers made him subconsciously relax his vigilance to some extent. Although he knew rationally that the apocalypse was full of dangers, the fact that he had not encountered a large-scale threat for several days made him feel that the zombie density in this area might not be high.

Around 2 p.m., Xu Mo drove his car toward the outskirts of Moli Town.

What came into view was a typical post-apocalyptic town scene: low-rise buildings sprawling along both sides of the road were mostly dilapidated, their walls covered in stains and cracks, windows shattered, and signs rusted and fallen. Abandoned vehicles lay scattered haphazardly in the streets, some burned to mere skeletons. Plants grew wildly, peeking out from cracks and broken window sills, adding a grotesque vitality to this desolate place. The air was thick with dust, mustiness, and a faint, almost imperceptible, stench of decay.

It was very quiet, at least at first.

After entering the town, Xu Mo slowed down and cautiously observed his surroundings. He didn't drive directly into the town center, but instead drove slowly along the outer roads, looking for signs for gas stations.

Soon, Xu Mo saw a familiar red and white sign at the east end of the town, near a fork in the road. Although it was dusty and damaged, the words "Gas Station" were still recognizable.

Next to the gas station was a small convenience store, but the doors and windows were long gone, and the inside was pitch black.

Fortunately, the gas station appeared to be structurally intact, with several gas pumps standing alone beside a concrete platform. The roof was slightly tilted but had not collapsed. More importantly, Xu Mo noticed that the nozzle of one of the gas pumps was still hanging on the rack, and there seemed to be a manual pump interface next to it—meaning that there might still be fuel stored in the underground tanks, which could be manually extracted.

However, misfortune followed.

Just as Xu Mo's car slowly approached the gas station entrance, preparing to find a suitable place to park, an unexpected change occurred.

One after another, unsteady figures began to appear on the street.

These zombies were ragged, their skin ashen, some with empty eye sockets. But the moment they heard the engine, they seemed to be accelerated, turning their heads and dragging their mutilated bodies toward the SUV.

In just a few dozen seconds, twenty or thirty figures appeared in sight, and the number was still increasing! They poured out from all corners, forming a loose encirclement.

Xu Mo's heart skipped a beat; he knew he couldn't linger here. He quickly surveyed the gas station's layout—the entrance was fairly wide, but if the exit was blocked by zombies, it would be difficult for the car to turn around quickly. He immediately shifted into reverse, lightly pressed the accelerator, and prepared to back up to a more open area.

However, just as he was reversing, several zombies that were originally some distance away suddenly pounced on him at a speed much faster than their kind, their withered arms even hitting the rear bumper of the car as it was reversing!

"Tsk!" Xu Mo jerked the steering wheel, the car swerving in an arc, escaping the zombies' attack range and returning to the main road. But this delay allowed even more zombies to swarm around, the closest being less than ten meters from the car.

"We can't stop!" Xu Mo knew very well that once they were completely surrounded by the horde of zombies, even this modified off-road vehicle wouldn't be able to stop.

Realizing this, Xu Mo immediately stepped on the gas, and the car shot forward, smashing through two ordinary zombies blocking the way and temporarily escaping the nearest encirclement.

However, after getting rid of the encirclement of these ordinary zombies, Xu Mo did not immediately leave. Instead, another thought flashed through his mind: perhaps he could lure these zombies away?

So Xu Mo drove around the open space on the outskirts of the town for a short while, then turned around again and drove towards a street in the opposite direction of the gas station. At the same time, he reached out and pressed the horn in the center of the steering wheel!

"beep-!!!"

A piercing, high-pitched horn suddenly blared, echoing through the quiet, dilapidated town and carrying for a long distance.

The horn blast was like a drop of cold water into a scalding oil pan; the horde of zombies, initially attracted only by the engine noise, instantly erupted into chaos.

The horn seemed to have an extraordinary stimulating effect on them, and more ordinary zombies emerged from the building ruins, from the basement, and from any corner where they could hide. They howled and surged wildly towards Xu Mo's car. The previously loose horde of zombies suddenly became dense and clearly directed.

But that's not the worst of it.

"Whoosh!" "Whoosh!" "Whoosh!"

Several figures, far faster than ordinary zombies, leaped from the high rooftops on both sides of the street or from behind collapsed GG signs. They landed almost silently, then on all fours, charging towards the SUV with astonishing acceleration.

"Level 1 agile zombies! And there's more than one!" Xu Mo glanced around and saw at least six or seven agile zombies locking onto him.

"Oh no!" Alarm bells rang in Xu Mo's mind. Without hesitation, he slammed the accelerator to the floor!

The off-road vehicle roared and surged forward like a startled wild beast.

As Xu Mo drove out of the town and fled along the road he had come from, more mutants emerged from other directions of the town.

In addition to the agile zombies that joined the pursuit later, the powerful zombies, whose physiques were obviously strong and whose running caused the ground to tremble slightly, also roared and joined the chase!

Ultimately, this resulted in the following scene: a filthy off-road vehicle speeding ahead, followed closely by more than a dozen agile zombies like vengeful ghosts, then by a powerful giant relentlessly pursuing them, while on the horizon, a vast and tireless horde of ordinary zombies roams.

This scene is far more impactful than any words can describe it.

It taught Xu Mo a profound lesson in the most brutal way: the horror of the apocalypse lies not only in the mutation of individuals, but also in the terrifying horde of zombies that, once triggered, can be endless and enough to overwhelm any careless person!

In areas where human civilization has collapsed, especially in former densely populated areas, the density of zombies and the proportion of mutants may be far greater than in the relatively "clean" outer areas of Jiangcheng!

Xu Mo gritted his teeth; he couldn't keep running like this. He had come here to find fuel, not to burn it off.

A plan quickly took shape in Xu Mo's mind as he surveyed the road ahead. The highway had a long straight section here, with relatively open wasteland covered in low weeds and shrubs on both sides, and trees only appearing in the distance.

right here!

A fierce glint flashed in Xu Mo's eyes. He pressed the accelerator to create more distance between the zombies behind the SUV, then eased off the accelerator slightly, slowly pulling the car closer to the roadside.

"squeak--!"

The brakes screech, and the SUV came to a steady stop on the road. The engine remained running, maintaining a low, rumbling idle.

Almost the instant the car came to a complete stop, Xu Mo had already pushed open the driver's side door. As he got out of the car, Xu Mo was holding his AK-47 in one hand, and at the same time, he had already pulled the Barrett out of the car and carried it on his back.

He raised his AK-47, the muzzle steadily pointing in the direction from which the pursuers were coming.

The agile zombies in the distance were the first to be attacked. They seemed not to have expected their prey to stop suddenly, but their bloodthirsty instincts drove them to accelerate and rush forward without hesitation!

These agile zombies pawed at the ground, kicking up dust, while behind them stood the heavy figures of powerful zombies.

"Sometimes, pursuing the wrong person is pointless; don't you know that?"

Xu Mo muttered something under his breath, locking onto the agile zombie that was charging at the front and closest to him.

"Bang!"

A crisp burst of fire rang out as the 7.62mm bullet spun out of the barrel at an extremely high initial velocity, slicing through the air and precisely piercing the left side of the zombie's twisted head between its eyebrows!

The immense kinetic energy instantly shattered its already dwindling brain tissue, creating a bowl-sized hole in the back of its head, with bone fragments mixed with a blackish-red viscous substance splashing backward.

The agile zombie was struck head-on as if by an invisible hammer. Its forward momentum came to an abrupt halt, its entire body twisting strangely before crashing heavily into the dust and remaining motionless.

Xu Mo's eyes remained unwavering as he subtly adjusted his wrist, pointing the gun at his next target.

"iDu, "i, "iDu, the rhythmic, short-interval bursts of gunfire rang out one after another."

Each shot was accompanied by the head exploding or a vital part of the body being pierced, causing a charging, agile zombie to collapse to the ground.

Xu Mo's shooting was extremely efficient. He made full use of the AK-47's reliability and power at medium range, as well as the super stability and dynamic vision brought by his Iron Bone Realm, to accurately reap the lives of agile zombies.

The remaining agile zombies ignored the death of their companions, showing no fear or hesitation. They continued to stare with their murky eyes and open their drooling, rotten mouths, charging forward madly.

This is precisely one of the most terrifying aspects of zombies—the lack of individual consciousness and the resulting fear, driven only by collective instinct.

An attack regardless of the cost.

"Eleven—" Xu Mo counted silently in his mind as bullets from the AK-47 magazine whistled out, knocking over the last agile zombie that had rushed within fifty meters.

In less than a minute, all eleven level-one agile mutated zombies were turned into corpses lying across the road and on both sides.

Xu Mo quickly pressed the magazine release button, and the unloaded magazine fell out. With his other hand, he smoothly pulled a new full magazine from his tactical vest and slapped it into the gun.

He had no time to admire the victory, because further threats were looming.

Although the strength-type zombies were slower, they had now closed in considerably. Their heavy footsteps pounded the ground, and their imposing bodies pressed down with an aura of savagery.

Ordinary rifle bullets are less effective against their thick muscles and potentially deformed bones; it's time to use something bigger.

Xu Mo slung the AK-47 over his back and replaced it with a Barrett. The heavy anti-materiel sniper rifle felt cold to the touch, but it brought him immense peace of mind.

After quickly checking the condition of the weapon, Xu Mo leaned against the warm front tire, placed the heavy Barrett on a relatively flat spot on the edge of the hood, adjusted his posture, and attached a high-powered optical sight to his right eye.

The field of vision zoomed in instantly, and the crosshairs firmly trapped the power-type zombie charging at the front.

Xu Mo could even see through the scope the bluish-black veins bulging on the other person's swollen and twisted neck, as well as the jagged, black-stained teeth in the open mouth.

Xu Mo gently placed his index finger on the cool, wide trigger and began to pre-press.

Just as he was about to pull the trigger and deliver a thunderous blow to end this powerful zombie, "Awooo—!!!"

A violent roar suddenly came from the sparse woods not far to the right of the road. The roar was full of primal wildness and the intimidation of a predator, and could not be made by a zombie!

Xu Mo was startled, and his finger holding the gun stopped reflexively.

The timing of that sudden roar was perfect! And along with the roar, Xu Mo clearly heard a series of snapping sounds coming from the woods on his right, with dead branches being broken by trampling and fallen leaves being scraped violently!

Something was moving very fast through the woods and getting closer to the road, closer to his location!

"There are other predators?!"

If you are attacked from both sides, or if the beast and the zombie form some kind of strange cooperation, then you will be in big trouble!

Xu Mo subconsciously glanced at the idling SUV—thankfully, the engine hadn't stalled and it could rush out at any moment.

Xu Mo then climbed onto the roof of the car, his gaze fixed on the sparse woodland on the right, a place large enough to conceal medium to large creatures.

The sound grew closer and closer, and the movement through the woods was like a fish darting across the water, leaving a clear ripple on the tops of the bushes and grass!

The vegetation parted to the sides and then quickly closed again, demonstrating that the thing possessed extraordinary speed and power!

There was no time to think! Neither zombies nor this unknown beast could be allowed to get too close!

Xu Mo abruptly turned the Barrett's gun barrel around, abandoning the attempt to kill the power zombie, and instead pointed it towards the right side of the jungle, in the direction "Ripple" was moving—he wanted to anticipate and intercept it!

He was highly focused, pushing his perception, enhanced by his Iron Bone Realm, to its limit as he tried to pinpoint the exact shape and trajectory of the creature in the forest.

Suddenly, through a gap in a relatively sparse clump of low bushes, a blurry, seemingly large black figure flashed past at an extremely fast speed.

"Now!"

Xu Mo pulled the trigger!

"Bang--!!!"

The distinctive Barrett gunshot erupted, and the .50 caliber armor-piercing discarding sabot round flew out of the barrel at supersonic speed, carrying terrifying kinetic energy, instantly tearing through the air and penetrating the bushes.

Grass and wood debris flew everywhere, and a deep furrow was carved out by the bullet.

However, there was no expected piercing scream, nor the dull thud of a heavy object falling to the ground.

Missed!

Xu Mo's heart sank. This thing's speed and reaction were even faster than he had expected, but Xu Mo did not panic or feel disappointed. Unexpected events were common in combat. He quickly pulled back the bolt, and the scorching brass cartridge case was ejected, clattering as it hit the ground. The second bullet was chambered. His gaze remained fixed on that area, and the muzzle of the gun adjusted slightly with the movement of the "ripples".

The black figure seemed enraged by the gunshot, or perhaps aware of the danger, as its trajectory changed slightly, and its speed appeared to increase.

In the next instant, the black figure reappeared from the edge of another, denser patch of grass with a gap at the top.

This time the revelation lasted a little longer, and Xu Mo even caught a glimpse of a reflective, dagger-like claw, as well as a pair of vertical pupils that gleamed with a cold yellow light in the shadows!

"Bang!"

The second shot was fired! Based on his previous observation, Xu Mo calculated the lead and aimed the shot slightly in front of and below the pair of yellow vertical pupils!

"Awooo—!!!"

This time, almost simultaneously with the gunshot, a agonizing and furious scream erupted from the forest. The sound was incredibly penetrating, carrying with it unbearable pain and an even more surging killing intent!

"Hit!"

Xu Mo felt a slight surge of joy, but his hands didn't stop moving. Dealing with such a ferocious mutated beast, especially in the jungle, a single blow might not be fatal; he had to take advantage of its injury to expand his gains!

He no longer deliberately aimed at the elusive, fast-moving figures, but instead pulled the trigger repeatedly based on the direction from which the screams came and the trajectory of the swaying trees!

"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"

Deafening gunfire shattered the brief silence of the wilderness. Each shot was fired at the area where the trees shook violently or where the screams were most concentrated. Large-caliber bullets ravaged the jungle, snapping saplings as thick as bowls, uprooting large patches of grass, and leaving behind shocking craters.

After the fourth shot, the agonizing screams abruptly stopped.

The fifth shot was fired, and the rapidly moving "ripples" in the forest completely disappeared, leaving only a mess of grass and trees ravaged by bullets, swaying slightly due to inertia.

Xu Mo stopped firing, wisps of smoke rising from the muzzle of his Barrett. After being hit five times by .50 BMG rounds, he didn't believe any terrestrial creature could survive unless it had transcended the category of "life."

However, Xu Mo did not immediately lower his guard. Instead, he quickly removed the Barrett's magazine, replaced it with a new full magazine, and loaded it again. Only then did he turn his gaze back to the road ahead.

In just a short while, many more of the strength-type zombies closed in. They seemed completely oblivious to the fierce battle taking place in the jungle on the right, their eyes only on Xu Mo, their prey.

"It's your turn." Xu Mo's eyes were cold as he readjusted his Barrett, the crosshair firmly gripping the broad chest of the leading zombie—he didn't need a headshot; the stopping power and destructive force of the .50 bullets were enough to shatter any part of them.

"Bang!"

A dull thud echoed again. The leading zombie, as if struck in the chest by an invisible hammer, was jolted backward, its upper body arching violently, revealing a horrifying, bowl-sized, penetrating wound across its chest. Shattered bones, muscles...

Fragments of internal organs mixed with black blood sprayed backward several meters! Its massive body was lifted off the ground by the kinetic energy of the bullet, flew backward two or three meters, twitched twice on the ground, and then remained motionless.

One shot to kill!

Xu Mo followed suit, pulling back the bolt, ejecting the spent cartridge, chambering a round, and aiming at the next target.

"—" "—" " " " Barrett's roar became the main theme of this wasteland. Every shot took the life of a strength-type zombie. Their proud strong bodies and thick muscles seemed so fragile in the face of the destructive power of the .50 caliber. They were either blown apart in the chest, had their spines broken, or simply had half of their heads disappear.

When the last .50 caliber bullet sent the last super zombie flying backward, the road ahead was temporarily quiet. Only on the distant horizon remained the slow but persistent horde of ordinary zombies, still tirelessly approaching, but they would take at least some time before posing a real threat.

Xu Mo slowly exhaled a breath of stale air, which smelled of gunpowder. He put down the scalding hot Barrett, pulled out the machete hanging on his waist, jumped out of the car, and walked into the jungle on the right.

What exactly was that black creature that made him feel so threatened just by hearing its voice? Was it dead? He had to find out.

Xu Mo was not careless. Holding his knife in his right hand, he held his breath and carefully approached the jungle area where the gunfight had just been most intense.

The ground beneath my feet was soft, mixed with fallen leaves and soil. In addition to the fresh scent of grass and trees and the smell of gunpowder, a strong, sweet, and metallic stench began to permeate the air—the smell of a large amount of fresh blood.

As Xu Mo pushed aside a clump of bushes riddled with bullet holes and stained with dark red blood, his pupils suddenly contracted!

Less than ten meters in front of him, in a patch of flattened grass, lay the outline of a huge creature.

Even when crouching, its shoulder height was estimated to be over 1.3 meters, and its body length, including its tail, was likely close to three meters! This creature was covered entirely in glossy, short black fur, but several shockingly large wounds were visible on its shoulders, back, and sides! Especially near its neck and chest, two bowl-sized holes were gushing dark red blood, soaking a large area of the ground beneath it. The strong stench of blood in the air primarily originated from these wounds.

It appears to be completely still.

But just as Xu Mo had made out its outline, that familiar, chilling sense of crisis surged through his spine like a high-voltage current, rushing straight to the top of his head!

Almost at the same instant the sense of crisis erupted, the seemingly dead behemoth suddenly moved. It let out a suppressed growl mixed with pain and rage, its powerful hind legs slamming into the ground, kicking up a cloud of mud and grass, and its huge and agile body lunged at Xu Mo's direction with incredible speed and agility.

From its gaping maw, four pale white fangs, like curved daggers, gleamed with a deadly light in the forest! The claws extended from its forelimbs, each like a hook forged from fine steel, tore through the air, aiming straight for Xu Mo's face and chest!

"Still not dead?!"

Xu Mo was horrified, but reacted even faster! In the instant the sense of crisis alerted him, he had already pushed all his blood and energy to the limit!

The power of the Iron Bone Realm surged through his limbs and bones like a volcanic eruption! Facing the oncoming black shadow, Xu Mo advanced instead of retreating, gripping his machete tightly with both hands, and exhaled, shouting: "Die—!!"

A short, explosive shout erupted from Xu Mo's chest. All the power in his body was drawn from the soles of his feet, through the twisting of his waist and hips, through his shoulders and back, and finally condensed in his arms before being poured into the gleaming blade.

There are no fancy moves, no clever ways to deflect force, only real, head-on collisions of power, and an indomitable, all-consuming momentum!

"Clang—Pfft!"

The ear-piercing clang of metal clashing and the dull thud of a sharp blade piercing flesh rang out almost simultaneously!

The gleaming blade of the machete, carrying Xu Mo's full strength and the kinetic energy of the impact, clashed fiercely with the mutated beast's slashing claws! The blade cleaved through the tough, leather-like claw pads, severed the finger bones harder than refined steel, and, undeterred by the beast's forward momentum, viciously slashed into its thick neck.

The blade slices into the muscle, cuts through the tendons, and cleaves through the bones!

"Snap!"

The chilling sound of bones cracking was clearly audible.

The beast's forward momentum came to an abrupt halt. Its massive body froze in mid-air, then crashed heavily to the ground, accompanied by a gush of blood.

Its head was tilted to one side at an extremely unnatural angle, with only a little skin and flesh connecting it to its torso. Its once fierce and radiant yellow vertical pupils had quickly lost their luster, leaving only a deathly emptiness and an unbelievable stillness.

Xu Mo quickly took two steps back, and at the same time flicked his wrist, the machete danced in front of him, creating a bright flash of light, blocking all the hot blood spurting from the severed neck of the opponent, which was still warm from body temperature, thus avoiding being drenched.

Blood rained down, staining the surrounding grass, trees, and soil red.

Xu Mo then looked closely and finally saw the true face of the black creature that had almost caused him to capsize.

Its overall shape still vaguely resembles that of a large feline, but the details have become extremely ferocious. Its entire body is covered with thick, smooth, short black fur, but on its forehead and shoulders, there are faint dark red, flame-like stripes. Especially its four terrifying long fangs, like a miniature version of a prehistoric saber-toothed tiger, but even more curved and sharp.

This creature could not have been produced by natural evolution; it must have been a product of a profound mutation caused by a cataclysm, possibly even a hybrid of multiple genetic mutations. It possessed strength, speed, agility, stealth, and ferocity. If Xu Mo hadn't been severely injured by Barrett beforehand, and hadn't possessed the strength and early warning perception of the Iron Bone Realm, that near-death counterattack would have likely been fatal for an ordinary enhanced ability user.

"Good heavens—" Xu Mo calmed his breathing and the rush of blood to his head. He stepped forward and carefully poked at the massive head with the tip of his knife to confirm that it was completely dead.

Then, he raised his machete, aimed it at the hardest part of the skull, the back of the head, and with all his might, chopped down hard!

"Snap!"

A crack was split open in the skull. Xu Mo pried it open with the tip of his knife and searched inside. To his surprise, he found a dark red crystal core, about the size of a little finger joint and shaped like an irregular polyhedron, deep in the brain tissue.

The crystal core had a smooth surface, and there seemed to be an extremely faint luster flowing inside. However, apart from the warmth, there was no energy fluctuation emanating from the crystal core when Xu Mo held it in his hand.

"What's the use of this thing?" Xu Mo was a little puzzled, but he didn't throw it away.

He didn't know exactly what this thing was for, but his intuition told him he should keep it.

After taking one last look at the enormous corpse, Xu Mo removed its four fangs, paying no further attention to the rest.

After finishing all this, Xu Mo quickly returned to his off-road vehicle. The threat of agile and strong zombies was temporarily eliminated, but the ordinary zombie horde was still slowly approaching in the distance, and it was estimated that it would take some time before they arrived.

So now, it's time to get back to the original objective—the gas station in Mori.
