Chapter 26 To Play Magic, You Must First Have Confidence
I want the Gryffindor lion cubs to love learning...
Irving gave up on studying years ago; it's impossible for him to develop a love for it. However, if something can pique their interest, it's easy to get them hooked.
And this bait is a powerful and cool kind of magic.
So, what should we teach them?
The Killing Curse is the most suitable because it has powerful abilities: instant death upon being hit, and it also has a nice visual effect: surrounded by green light.
If all the little lions of Gryphon learn this, even if Voldemort were to return and see a bunch of little wizards with wands glowing green, he'd probably be scared off!
But no, the Unforgivable Curse has a strong aftereffect and is strictly controlled. If the Ministry of Magic found out, Hogwarts would become Azkaban.
and so……
"Everyone, please put your books away for today's lesson..." Owen looked at the young wizards below, his face expressionless: "Because the spell I'm going to teach you today isn't in the textbook."
Sure enough, as soon as these words were spoken, the eyes of the young wizards sitting below began to light up!
"Armor for protection!"
Seeing the pale blue magical armor that had appeared on Owen's body, the young wizards exclaimed, "Wow!"
"This spell is normally colorless and transparent, but I added some color so you can see it more clearly..." Owen pressed on while the iron was hot. Without him even having to say anything, the young wizards started taking notes, recording the key points of the spell's pronunciation and the wand gestures.
"Of course, the most important thing is... you have to truly accept yourself."
Owen put away his wand and smiled confidently, "All the professors, when teaching us spells, always emphasize determination and confidence at the end. So where do determination and confidence come from? They come from our sense of self-acceptance! Mr. Neville, Mr. Harry, Mr. Ron, Miss Hermione, please come to the front of the class."
The four young wizards walked over, looking bewildered. Owen grabbed Neville's chubby neck and said, "Gentlemen, you all know Mr. Neville Longbottom. What I think you don't know is that Neville is a descendant of heroes. His parents, even while enduring the torture of the Cruciatus Curse, still did not betray their companions. Which of you could do that?"
Gryffindor takes Charms class alongside Slytherin, and the young wizards at Slytherin clearly remember Owen demonstrating the power of the Cruciatus Curse, so... everyone's gaze towards Neville has changed.
"Mr. Harry..." Owen paused, then said in a low voice, "We all know he's the savior, but has anyone considered that on the day he became the savior, he lost his parents' lives?"
The aura immediately dropped...
"Miss Hermione, like me, is Muggle-born, but she is extremely studious. Before school started, she had already memorized the entire first-year textbook. Everyone, how many of you could do that? Even if many of your parents are wizards, how many of you actually read the books before school started?"
This time, it was mostly the young Slytherin wizards who bowed their heads.
"Mr. Ron is quite a courageous man. He is the only one who has dared to provoke me twice in a row, and the only one who has been punished by me twice in a row."
The little red-haired wizard didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Why did things seem different when it came to him?
"Neville, raise the wand your father left you, and shout 'I can do it!' into it, then recite the spell!"
"I can do it! Armor protects me!"
"Buzz!"
A white mist composed of magic enveloped Neville.
Owen clapped: "Fantastic! Five points for Gryffindor! For Mr. Neville! By the way, this isn't a failure, but the beginning of a success. Once this white mist solidifies, the spell will be complete!"
After saying that, Owen said to Harry, "Mr. Harry, raise your wand, shout out your longing for your parents, and then cast the spell!"
"Mom and Dad, I miss you so much! Armor for protection!"
Similar to Neville, but the white mist Harry summoned was more solid, and this time, Owen didn't get any extra points.
"Miss Hermione, raise your wand, shout at it, 'You are the finest witch!', and then recite the spell!"
"I am the best! Armor protects me!"
Hermione's spell was highly successful; part of the white mist surrounding her had already become transparent.
"Mr. Ron, raise your wand, shout at it, 'You are the bravest and most fearless wizard!', and then recite the spell!"
"I am the bravest! Armor protects me!"
Unsurprisingly, Ron failed...
Owen didn't say anything. After asking them to go back to their seats, he turned to the young wizards and said, "Did you see that? Why did Neville, Harry, and Hermione succeed, but Mr. Ron failed?"
Ron lowered his head, his face flushed. He thought Owen was openly mocking him, but just then, Owen spoke up: "That's because, of the four of you, only Mr. Ron lacks confidence in himself!"
what?
Just because of this?
Ron raised his head, his face still red, but he agreed with Owen's words because he genuinely didn't consider himself a brave person.
"The foundation of magic comes from here..." Owen touched his heart with his wand: "Please remember, everyone, when you wave your wand and chant the spell, as long as you have the belief that 'I! Can definitely do it!', you will basically succeed. Alright, you can prepare to dismiss get out of class now. I won't assign homework, but I would like to ask you to practice any kind of magic after class to verify the truth of what I said."
After class, the students split into two groups at the classroom door. There was no argument, and the young wizards were ready to test the key knowledge they had learned in the lesson.
Owen quickly tidied up and prepared to head to the Potions classroom in the basement, but when he flew to the first floor, Fox suddenly appeared and rammed him to a stop.
"What's wrong?"
Irving reacted quickly and caught it in his arms.
"Chirp chirp!"
Owen sighed. "Doesn't the headmaster know that I still have classes to teach?"
"Chirp chirp chirp chirp!" "Okay, I got it. We... wait a minute, I'll carry you and fly, don't move!"
Fox nestled obediently in the little wizard's arms, letting him carry him to the headmaster's office.
