Li Chengqian looked out the window and slowly said, "Master, I consider myself to be loyal to the court. No matter where I go, I have never forgotten my responsibilities and mission. Everything I do is aimed at protecting the safety and interests of the court and the people of the Tang Dynasty."
Our Great Tang Dynasty governs the world with filial piety in mind. Although I am not considered filial, and often anger my father and mother,
However, I feel that I am much less of a worry for my parents than Liu Ying, Liu Rong, Yang Yong and others.
At the time, when Ying Bu rebelled, Liu Bang was in poor health and planned to send Liu Ying to fight.
However, Liu Ying was not up to the task.
Liu Bang had no choice but to personally take charge.
As a result, he was hit by a stray arrow during the battle, and soon after, Liu Bang died.
If Liu Ying had been able to take charge and quell Ying Bu's rebellion, why would Liu Bang have died?
After being demoted to Prince of Linjiang, Liu Rong did not restrain himself and continued to engage in large-scale construction projects, encroaching on the land of the ancestral temple.
This put Emperor Jing of Han in a very difficult position. If he did not punish Liu Rong, how could he win over the people?
Emperor Jing of Han was torn between punishing Liu Rong and being unwilling to do so.
As for Yang Yong, he angered Emperor Wen of Sui and Empress Dugu in even more ways.
For example, Emperor Wen of Sui advocated frugality, but Yang Yong preferred extravagance;
Empress Dugu was most opposed to princes having many concubines.
However, Yang Yong took many women into the Eastern Palace, especially favoring his concubine Yun Zhaoxun.
In the end, it drove the Crown Princess Yuan to her death.
Even more extreme, one year on the winter solstice, when civil and military officials went to the Eastern Palace to pay homage to Yang Yong, Yang Yong did not refuse and left Emperor Wen of Sui out in the cold. Could this be considered a sign of filial piety?
Not only are they unfilial, but they also overstep their bounds.
Although I haven't done well enough, relatively speaking, when the Dangxiang and Tuyuhun rebelled, I led an army to meet them and defeated them, thus sparing my father the hardship of military service. In this respect, I feel that I am no worse than Liu Ying.
I originally planned to renovate the three old houses in the East Palace, but after much deliberation, I decided to demolish all three old houses and turn them into flower beds.
In this way, the environment of the Eastern Palace was improved, the air was purified, and a lot of expenses were saved for the court. It also prevented the encroachment on the ancestral temple land like Liu Rong did.
As for Yang Yong's absurd behavior, I have never done any of those.
On the contrary, when Chang'an and Luoyang were besieged, I tried every means to break the siege.
Ultimately, they repelled the combined forces of Li Yuanli and Zhang Zhongjian, and also accepted the surrender of the Turkic army.
However, for some reason, my father is always very suspicious of me.
He would believe any minister who spoke ill of him in his presence.
Without conducting a thorough investigation, he issued an order to arrest and even execute the emperor.
Does that mean the father-son bond between my father and me is worthless?
Li Tai is my own brother. From childhood to adulthood, I have always protected him, afraid that he would suffer the slightest grievance.
However, he repeatedly framed me, even going so far as to spend a large sum of money to hire assassins to ambush me on the way.
In short, they want to kill me as soon as possible, which pains me deeply.
Out of brotherly affection, she forgave him time and time again.
However, instead of repenting, he became increasingly arrogant and brazen, to the point of being blatantly brazen.
Take today for example, he bribed Qibi Heli of the Tiele to poison Gu Tong in the arena.
"If it weren't for the soft armor protecting me, I would probably have had my chest pierced by Qibi Heli's fist."
Upon hearing this, Xuanzang clasped his hands together and said, "Amitabha. Your Highness, your achievements are no less than those of any famous general in history."
Your filial piety shines as brightly as the sun and moon;
Your tolerance and kindness towards your brothers have moved even Buddha.
This is a blessing for the Tang Dynasty!
"Su Wan is the person I love most. For her, I can give up everything, even my life."
But tonight, Su Wan is hiding under the eaves, waiting for my arrival.
After she saw me
Holding a dagger, she aimed straight for my vital points. If I hadn't been lucky, she would have stabbed me.
Master, please tell me,
What did I do wrong?
Why do the people I love most all want my life?
Xuanzang sensed the immense pain in Li Chengqian's heart from his words: "Amitabha, well said, well said!"
Everything in the world has a cause.
Every effect has a cause, and every effect has a cause.
This isn't your fault; it's simply because you were born into an imperial family.
If you grow up in an ordinary family, you will definitely love each other.
Ultimately, it's all the fault of imperial power.
Upon hearing this, Li Chengan felt that Master Xuanzang's words had hit the nail on the head.
My father is wary of me because he fears I will seize his throne.
Li Tai attempted to assassinate him because Li Tai wanted to seize the position of crown prince.
Xuanzang fiddled with a string of Buddhist prayer beads in his hand: "Also, because you are too outstanding, your brilliance is too exposed."
Think about it: you conquered the Dangxiang and Tuyuhun, defeated the Yanqi army, and then lifted the sieges of Chang'an and Luoyang.
Your face is practically sticking out to the heavens.
Your brilliance overshadows the other princes.
So, can they feel at peace with themselves?
Li Chenggan lowered his head and remained silent.
People often say that true wisdom appears as foolishness.
Truly intelligent people hide their brilliance, sometimes even appearing foolish.
People won't be wary of someone like that!
Li Chengan felt that Master Xuanzang was absolutely right, and that he himself had been too sharp-tongued.
Xuanzang picked up his teacup, took a small sip, and slowly said, "There was an emperor in history who was well-versed in the art of judo, and he is very worthy of praise."
Some have described him as the most knowledgeable, the most skilled strategist, and the most adept at employing people among emperors.
"Oh, I wonder which emperor you are referring to, Master? To have such high praise for him."
"That was Liu Xiu, the founding emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty."
Although Liu Xiu was a ninth-generation descendant of Liu Bang, and descended from Liu Fa, the Prince of Changsha and son of Emperor Jing of Han,
However, due to Emperor Wu of Han's implementation of the "Decree of Grace," their family was demoted from marquises to county magistrates in Jiyang County, except for his father, Liu Qin.
Therefore, Liu Xiu's origins were very humble, and he did not have any powerful background.
Before gaining power, Liu Xiu endured humiliation and kept a low profile.
Emperor Gengshi was extremely wary of the two brothers and executed the elder brother, Liu Yan, on trumped-up charges.
If this had happened to an ordinary person, they would have fought Emperor Gengshi to the death.
However, Liu Xiu knew that his strength was still weak and he was no match for his opponent. If he acted rashly, he would only become someone else's victim.
Liu Xiu, feigning remorse, proactively admitted his mistakes to Emperor Gengshi, saying that his brother deserved his punishment. This, in turn, made Emperor Gengshi feel embarrassed.
Instead of stripping Liu Xiu of his position, they promoted him to King of Xiao, gave him important responsibilities, and sent him to Hebei to suppress and incorporate the Tongma and other rebel armies.
This gave Liu Xiu the opportunity to develop and strengthen his own power.
Of course, Guo Shengtong's support was crucial to Liu Xiu's success, but she was also quite domineering, relying on her family's power.
Sometimes they even didn't take Liu Xiu seriously.
It was only after Liu Xiu had consolidated his power in the Han Dynasty that he deposed Empress Guo and made Yin Lihua empress in her place, and there were reasons for this.
Therefore, whether you are a crown prince or an emperor, it is not easy, and you must be fully prepared mentally.
People know that before Liu Bei rose to prominence during the Three Kingdoms period, he wandered from place to place, lived under the roof of others, and suffered countless humiliations.
Actually, there was another master strategist during the Three Kingdoms period who is also worthy of praise.
"Who are you talking about?"
That is Sima Yi.
Sima Yi was a man of strong character, capable of both yielding and standing firm.
When Sima Yi first entered officialdom, Cao Cao did not think highly of him and only appointed him as an insignificant civil official.
On his deathbed, Cao Cao summoned Cao Pi to his side and instructed him to be wary of Sima Yi and his son Sima Zhao.
Cao Pi also repeated Cao Cao's last words at Cao Cao's bedside.
This shows that Cao Cao and his son Cao Pi were very wary of Sima Yi and his son Sima Zhao.
Logically speaking, under such harsh conditions, it would be very difficult for Sima Yi and Sima Zhao to not only develop their own power, but also to survive.
Sima Yi spent ten years honing his skills.
He either doesn't draw his sword, or if he does, blood will inevitably be drawn.
In the end, Sima Yi not only outlived Cao Cao, but also Cao Pi and Cao Rui.
Sima Yi feigned illness, deceiving Cao Shuang, and ultimately launched the Gaoping Mausoleum Coup.
As a result, Cao Shuang was killed, and the Sima family regained power.
Ultimately, Jin replaced Wei.
Li Chengan was deeply moved after listening to Master Xuanzang's words.
He felt that he had gained a completely new understanding of Liu Xiu and Sima Yi. Indeed, both of them were very good at being patient before they gained power.
Li Chengan thought to himself, if he were in that situation, could he have endured it? Probably not.
Xuanzang twirled his prayer beads in his hand: "This humble monk is a monk and doesn't understand much about matters of the heart between men and women."
However, this humble monk believes that the deeper the love, the more intense the hatred.
I have had contact with the Crown Princess before, and I think she is a very virtuous woman who is very loyal in her relationships.
There are rumors that you spent the whole night with Princess Qu Zhili of Gaochang.
"And, is it true that Qu Zhili is pregnant with your child?"
This is a pointed question.
However, Li Chengan had no choice but to reply: "Master, to be honest, there is indeed such a thing."
Xuanzang smiled slightly: "If this is indeed the case, then Su Wan's actions are easy to understand."
People often say, "What is love in this world that makes people willing to die for it?" The world of love is very small; it can only hold two people.
However, as the crown prince, it's probably unrealistic to expect you to marry only one woman for the rest of your life. This is the conflict between feudal ethics and human nature, and it depends on your own perspective.
However, regardless of the circumstances, this humble monk believes that Su Wan is a rare and wonderful girl, and you should cherish her.
Upon hearing this, Li Chengan blushed and felt guilty, feeling that he had let Su Wan down.
"Master, you are absolutely right. I should admit my mistake to Su Wan."
Although my being with Qu Zhili was not my intention, it was all a misunderstanding.
However, regardless of the circumstances, it has become a fact and has caused harm to Su Wan.
"I am very pleased that you think this way."
Many men can only see a woman's flaws, but cannot recognize their own mistakes. It's like a crow perched on a cow's back—it can only see the blackness of others, but not its own.
"I am indeed guilty of this matter," Li Chenggan said sincerely.
The Tao Te Ching says that in dealing with people and affairs, one should overcome strength with gentleness and weakness.
Gentleness is not weakness, but resilience, a great wisdom.
Let me give you another imperfect analogy. You think teeth are hard and tongue is soft, right? But when people get old, teeth fall out first.
My tongue is still fine;
For example, people and plants: when people are alive, their bodies are soft, but when they die, their bodies become hard.
Those little grasses are soft when they're alive, they only dry out when they die.
Thus, softness symbolizes vitality and life, while hardness brings one closer to death.
Therefore, the harder something is, the easier it is to break.
Li Chenggan seemed to understand something.
At this point, Master Xuanzang took out a book from his robes: "This is the Tao Te Ching. I'm giving this book to you. Please study it carefully."
Li Chengan received the Tao Te Ching with both hands, feeling a sense of weight in it.
"I have heard that your Li family regards Lao Tzu as your ancestor, and this book, the Tao Te Ching, was written by Lao Tzu. Therefore, we should respect our ancestor."
Lao Tzu once said, "It is precisely because he does not contend that no one in the world can contend with him."
Not competing is not about passively giving up, but about emulating the qualities of water and conforming to the natural laws of heaven and earth, rather than forcibly interfering.
Human nature is often like this: the more you strive for something with others, the more they will strive for it with you.
If you take a step back, others may follow suit.
We must constantly improve and strengthen ourselves. When you are strong enough, others will naturally not compete with you.
Those who can truly refrain from competing are the invincible ones.
I hope you can deeply understand the principles behind this.
Li Chengan bowed again and said, "Master, your words are more valuable than ten years of study. I feel as if I have suddenly seen the light and gained a clear understanding."
"Your Highness, this humble monk has no special talent, but I have gained some insights while studying the Tao Te Ching."
Lao Tzu's wisdom is not something that ordinary people can comprehend.
Gentleness is a way of navigating the world, but non-contention is true wisdom.
In an instant, Li Chenggan felt his heart filled with power, and he became much more clear-headed. His mood was no longer as depressed as before.
Xuanzang looked at Li Chenggan and laughed, "Last time, when I came here, I finally managed to disguise you as a monk and escape from Chang'an. Why have you come back again?"
"Wouldn't that mean I've wasted all my effort?"
Li Chenggan sat upright and said: "Firstly, my father issued two decrees ordering me to return to Chang'an, and I had no choice but to go back."
Secondly, the martial arts examination is being held in Chang'an, which is a major event for the city. How could I possibly be absent?
To everyone's surprise, Master Xuanzang shook his head after hearing this: "On the surface, what you said seems to make some sense."
However, in my humble opinion, Chang'an is a place of trouble and danger, and you should not stay there for long.
I've heard that the participants in this martial arts examination are a mixed bag, including not only Tang people, but also people from various Western Regions and Eastern countries, each with their own agendas, making it difficult to distinguish friend from foe.
Especially figures like Lan Poracha from Yanqi, Yeon Gaesomun from Goguryeo, Buyeo Yung from Baekje, Inugami Mitako from Wa, and the father and son Soga no Emishi and Soga no Iruka.
In other words, while things appear calm on the surface, undercurrents are surging and an accident could happen at any moment.
"Your Highness, why don't you come with me to the Great Ci'en Temple now? Take this opportunity to calm your mind and read the *Tao Te Ching* carefully, and get away from this place of trouble to prevent any unforeseen events."
Upon hearing this, Li Chengan quickly bowed and said, "Master, thank you for your kind offer, but I am preoccupied with other matters and cannot leave."
Or perhaps I should wait until after the martial arts exam, and then I will go to the Great Ci'en Temple to receive your teachings.
"Amitabha! Since that's the case, this humble monk will not force you. I hope Your Highness will take good care of yourself."
"Please rest assured, Master, I will be careful."
"Also, my disciple Bianji, if Your Highness learns of his whereabouts, please inform me."
This humble monk must take him back to the Great Ci'en Temple for a severe reprimand and discipline.
This humble monk has already paved the way for him; he only needs to follow this path, and he will eventually attain enlightenment.
However, it's clear that he doesn't want to take the right path.
Perhaps the righteous path is too arduous; this is just trouble I've brought upon myself.
Upon hearing this, Li Chengan secretly admired him, because he felt that he could not yet reach the level of Master Xuanzang: "I have noted it down. If I find out Bianji's whereabouts, I will definitely send someone to inform you."
"Your Highness, I heard that Luo Cheng is with you. Do you know where he is?"
"I don't know."
He left after the competition ended today.
He didn't tell me where he went.
"Your Highness, it's perhaps inappropriate for you to be with Luo Cheng; it could easily lead to misunderstandings."
"Luo Cheng is a rare talent, a fierce general," Li Chenggan said.
"You're right, this humble monk has something to give you." Master Xuanzang said, taking a package out of his robes.
"What is this?"
"Your Highness, please don't ask yet. You can open it when the situation becomes urgent."
Li Chengan couldn't guess what was in the package either.
"Then, this humble monk will not disturb you any longer. It is getting late; I will visit your father another day. Farewell!"
Li Chengan escorted Master Xuanzang to the palace gate.
Li Chengan watched Master Xuanzang's departing figure, his heart filled with unease for a long time.
However, at that moment, a beautiful figure suddenly floated down from the roof, letting out a silvery laugh: "Your Highness, I never knew you were such a devoted lover."
Li Chengan was startled and looked to the side, only to see a young girl in front of him.
The girl had jet-black hair tied up in a bun on top of her head, adorned with jewels. She was tall and slender, with a curvaceous figure, fair skin, and a long, slender neck. She wore a black mink coat on top and strange clothes on the bottom, unlike the clothing of the Tang Dynasty.
A gentle breeze blew by, carrying a fragrant aroma.
Li Chenggan looked closely and saw that the girl who had come was none other than Fuyu Fengmei.
Li Chenggan was also surprised, not expecting that Buyeo Pungmi would suddenly appear in front of him at this time.
Buyeo Pungmi suddenly hugged Lee Seung-gan: "Your Highness, did you miss me?"
Li Chenggan felt the pair of peaks on Fuyu Fengmei's chest pressing down on him.
He could strongly feel Buyeo Bongmi's rapid heartbeat.
He gently pushed Fuyu Fengmei away: "Princess, when did you arrive in Chang'an?"
"What brings you here to see me?"
Fu Yu Fengmei pouted: "It's so windy outside, are you expecting me to just stand here and talk to you?"
Li Chengan then came to his senses: "Please invite the princess to the hall for a talk."
After Li Chenggan and Fuyu Fengmei entered the hall, they took their seats as host and guest.
Fuyu Fengmei looked at Li Chenggan with her beautiful eyes: "I came to Chang'an this time because I missed you and wanted to come see you."
Secondly, isn't there some kind of martial arts competition being held here?
So I wanted to come and see what was going on;
Thirdly, I have some information to share with you;
Fourthly, I'm not leaving now that I've come.
Li Chengan was speechless: "We're just ordinary friends, what's there to talk about missing each other?"
"Ordinary friends?"
Your Highness, you are truly remarkable.
No wonder people often say, "Those who are near the water get the moon first."
Qu Zhili is smart; she stayed with you the whole time, which gave her the opportunity.
I heard that she not only slept with you, but also became pregnant with your child. How enviable!
Upon hearing this, Li Chengan frowned and asked, "Didn't you just say you had some information to tell me?"
What kind of intelligence is it?
"do you remember?
Last time, when Buyeo Pungjang heard that your father wanted to arrest you, he was very worried about you, so he led 10,000 troops to rescue you.
However, later, Fuyu Fengzhang was arrested and taken to the Dali Temple.
His 10,000-strong army was besieged by Li Daozong's forces.
Of course, we have also heard that your father has pardoned Buyeo Pungjang and ordered Li Daozong to lift the siege.
However, thousands of assassins suddenly stormed into our Baekje army.
Because the attack was so sudden, our army was decimated and suffered heavy losses.
After Buyeo Pungjang returned to Baekje, my father was furious. He dismissed him from all his posts and imprisoned him.
"My father said that after we conquer Silla, we will kill them." Buyeo Pungmi cried again as she said this.
After hearing about this, Li Chenggan felt very sad and didn't know how to comfort Buyeo Pungmi.
"Have you ever heard the saying, 'I didn't kill Bo Ren, but Bo Ren died because of me'?"
"Oh, what does that mean? I've never heard of it before." Fu Yu Feng Mei raised her face, her eyes filled with tears.
Li Chengan stood up, put his hands behind his back, and paced back and forth in the hall, slowly saying: "This story is recorded in the Book of Jin compiled by Fang Xuanling."
The story goes like this: In 322 AD, Wang Dao's cousin, Wang Dun, rebelled. Due to family ties, Wang Dao was also implicated.
Unable to come up with a good solution, Wang Dao led his entire clan, young and old, to kneel before the palace gates to beg for forgiveness.
After learning about this, Wang Dao's friend Zhou Boren rushed to the palace to meet Emperor Yuan of Jin.
Zhou Boren tried his best to defend Wang Dao.
He said to Emperor Yuan of Jin, "Wang Dao is a loyal minister and would never rebel. Please spare him and his family."
Emperor Yuan of Jin heeded Zhou Boren's advice and agreed to release Wang Dao and his clansmen.
However, Zhou Boren was a man who did not expect anything in return for his kindness, and he did not hope that Wang Dao would repay him for this.
When he came out of the palace, he met Wang Dao again.
Director Wang begged him to put in a good word for him.
However, Zhou Boren remained silent, only drinking continuously until he became completely drunk.
Wang Dao felt very bad when he saw Zhou Boren refusing to help someone in distress.
Later, Wang Dun captured Jiankang and seized power.
Wang Dun had a bad impression of Zhou Boren and wanted to kill him.
Before killing Zhou Boren, Wang Dun consulted Wang Dao.
However, due to a previous misunderstanding, Director Wang did not speak well of Zhou Boren.
And so Wang Dun ordered Zhou Boren to be killed.
However, later, when Director Wang was sorting through the letters, he discovered that Zhou Boren had been secretly protecting him and his family all along.
This made Director Wang feel extremely guilty and remorseful.
"So that's how it is. According to you, Director Wang does bear some responsibility. His inaction led to the murder of his friend Zhou Boren!"
Li Chenggan nodded: "No matter what, Fuyu Fengzhang came to save me, but in the end, he lost his army and was imprisoned. He originally had a bright future, but now he has been implicated because of me."
Buyeo Pungmi gradually stopped sobbing: "Your Highness, you don't need to blame yourself too much. We know this is not your fault, nor is it your father's fault, because your father has already issued an edict to pardon Buyeo Pungjang and to lift the siege of our Baekje army."
Blame it on those civil officials, led by Fang Xuanling, who impeached you before your father, the emperor.
And who sent those assassins?
Li Chenggan shook his head: "So far, there is no conclusion."
I only found a new type of long Japanese sword at the scene. Before that, Li Tai had ordered a batch of long Japanese swords to be transferred from the armory. Therefore, it is possible that Li Tai ordered someone to do this.
However, drawing such a conclusion based solely on a long Japanese sword might be somewhat arbitrary.
"Therefore, I said I'm not leaving this time. I'm going to stay here and get to the bottom of this matter. However, based on what you just said, it's highly likely that Li Taiqian is behind this."
In the future, I must avenge our Baekje army, and I must also return to rescue my brother, Buyeo Pungjang.
In fact, Li Chenggan fully understood Fuyu Fengmei's feelings.
He knew that Buyeo Bong-jang and Buyeo Bong-mi were very close siblings.
Buyeo Pungmi then asked, "Has Buyeo Long already arrived in Chang'an?"
"Yes, he came with Yeon Gaesomun."
Buyeo Pungmi sighed: "Buyo Ryong really made me furious. I told him not to associate with Yeon Gaesomun, but he just wouldn't listen."
He seems to lack a brain; it's as if his head is attached to Yeon Gaesomun's body. He does whatever he's told to do.
I knew long ago that Yeon Gaesomun was no good; he would drag our Baekje down with him sooner or later.
Li Chengqian looked at Buyeo Pungmi and asked, "Has your father already agreed to join forces with Goguryeo to attack Silla this time?"
Buyeo Pungmi nodded: "Yes, because of this matter, I have fallen out with my father."
I advised him that if Goguryeo wanted to attack Silla, then let them do it. Why should Baekje have to wade into this mess?
However, the king would not listen.
My father said he was very angry because our army was besieged in Luoyang and suffered heavy losses.
He said that attacking Silla was the same as attacking Tang Dynasty, and that he wanted to take his anger out on Silla. No matter how I tried to persuade him, he wouldn't listen.
What can I do?
Li Chenggan nodded slightly. He knew that Yeon Gaesomun was very good at stirring up trouble.
In fact, Goguryeo's attack on Silla may not have been Go Geon-mu's original intention, but rather Yeon Gaesomun's idea.
Yeon Gaesomun attempted to wage war to consolidate his position, but he harbored a secret he couldn't reveal.
He had long harbored ambitions to usurp the throne.
Yeon Gaesomun today is like Cao Cao back then, wielding the power of life and death.
Gao Jianwu has essentially been sidelined by him.
Li Chenggan was fully aware of these matters.
Fu Yu Fengmei then asked, "After Fu Yu Long arrived in Chang'an, did he do anything out of line?"
Fang Xuanling then recounted the events that took place on the martial arts field.
After hearing this, Buyeo Pungmi sneered: "Although Buyeo Ryong is my elder brother, I must say that he is truly a frog in a well, arrogant and ignorant."
He's only learned a smattering of skills, yet he thinks he's amazing and invincible. It's utterly ridiculous; he's disgraced all the people of Beiji.
Li Chenggan thought to himself that what Fuyu Fengmei said was true; it was indeed a terrible thing when a person didn't know their own limitations.
"Also, there's something else I want to tell you."
"What is it?"
"Because when you were in Wa (Japan), you advised King Shuming not to sell large warships to Goguryeo. Now, Goguryeo's navy is short of warships, and they are eyeing your Tang army's warships. You should be careful."
"Warships?"
"Yes, Yeon Gaesomun has realized the importance of the navy."
He was determined to build a powerful navy, but he lacked warships.
King Shuming intended to sell them 100 warships, and he could have gotten his wish.
Later, King Shuming changed his mind after your persuasion, didn't he?
So, he was at his wit's end.
If they were to allow Goguryeo to produce so many warships in such a short period of time, it would definitely be too late.
With a major battle imminent, they have set their sights on your navy.
They want to seize your warships.
Li Chenggan was also shocked to hear this, thinking to himself that Yeon Gaesomun was indeed a schemer, and that nothing good ever came of him.
Are Yeon Gaesomun and Buyeo Yong still in Chang'an?
"Yes, we were just drinking together."
"Your Highness, you are so magnanimous. I advise you to take this opportunity to capture them all and not let them go back."
"Releasing a tiger back into the mountains will bring endless trouble. Even if Buyeo Yung were my elder brother, I would still say this."
Li Chengan stood up, arms crossed: "I'm afraid this is a bit inappropriate."
They're here to take the martial arts exam.
If they were to attack Yeon Gaesomun at this point, it would seem impossible to explain themselves.
Furthermore, Yeon Gaesomun proposed a real sword and spear duel with Ashina Simo.
Buyeo Pungmi wiped away her tears: "Oh dear, Your Highness, I find it hard to believe how inflexible you are."
Special cases should be treated specially.
do you know?
If you release Yeon Gaesomun, what a huge storm he'll cause!
Now that the armies of Goguryeo and Baekje have set out and are stationed at sea, they could deliver a fatal blow to Silla at any moment. Do you still need to worry about those things?
Li Chengqian rested his chin on his hand, pondered for a moment, and said, "This matter is of great importance. Let me consult my father before making a decision."
Buyeo Pungmi also wanted to persuade Lee Seung-gan to arrest Yeon Gaesomun and Buyeo Long.
However, at that moment, a man stumbled in from outside, knelt on the ground, and cried, "Your Highness, please find a way to save my grandfather and father!"
After he finished speaking, the man burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably.
Li Chengan was also taken aback. He looked down and saw that the person standing in front of him was none other than Qin Ying.
Li Chengan wondered what was wrong with Qin Ying, what was she up to?
He quickly went to Qin Ying, reached out his hands to help him up, and asked, "What happened? What's wrong?"
Qin Ying stood up, tears streaming down her face, and said, "Your Highness, oh dear, you don't know this!"
Luo Cheng went to our residence to pay his respects to my grandfather, didn't he?
"Oh, I see. And then?"
"Then, Gongsun Wuda led the Imperial Guards to pursue and capture Luo Cheng."
"Why is Gongsun Wuda pursuing Luo Cheng?" Li Chenggan couldn't help but ask.
He said that Luo Cheng was a rebel against the imperial court, so Luo Cheng should be arrested, imprisoned in the Dali Temple, and punished according to the law.
"Oh, is that so? Then, who ordered Gongsun Wuda to arrest Luo Cheng?"
I'm not sure, but I suppose it's Chang He?
"What is the usual way?"
Li Chengan was furious when he heard this, thinking that Chang He was getting bolder and bolder, daring to directly order the arrest of Luo Cheng.
"And then?"
"Later," Qin Ying looked at Fu Yu Feng Mei, greeted her, and knowing that Fu Yu Feng Mei was not an outsider, continued, "Later, Luo Cheng ran away, and they didn't catch him."
"Isn't that a good thing? If they run away, everything will be fine, right?"
"Oh dear, that's where the problem lies."
Originally, there was nothing wrong, but Gongsun Wuda was very meticulous. He found a jade pendant in my grandfather's study. Who knew that the jade pendant was Luo Cheng's personal item, with Luo Cheng's name engraved on it.
He handed the jade pendant to Chang He.
Chang He believed that my grandfather and father had deceived him, and he was furious. He personally led two thousand imperial guards to surround our house.
My father has organized two or three hundred servants to fight against them. With a major battle imminent, I rushed here to report this to you, Your Highness. Please, Your Highness, find a solution quickly.
Upon hearing this, Li Chengan also felt the urgency of the matter and asked, "Where is the sword my father gave you at Jiucheng Palace?"
"Li Tai took it away, saying that the banquet was over and I wouldn't need the sword anymore, so he took it back."
"Li Tai? What right does he have to take your sword?"
"I don't know either, but he wants it, so how can I refuse?"
Li Chenggan thought that made sense.
He said to Fuyu Fengmei, "Princess, please go to the guesthouse and rest. I have encountered some trouble here."
"We'll talk again after I've dealt with this matter."
"I'll go with you."
Li Chengan waved his hand: "No need, you should go back to the inn first."
Li Chengan knew that this matter was either a big deal or a small one, and he didn't know if Chang He would give him face. If Chang He acted stubbornly, there was nothing he could do.
If Buyeo Pungmi comes with me, there will definitely be danger.
When Fuyu Fengmei saw that Li Chenggan wouldn't let her follow, she stopped insisting: "Your Highness, you must be careful."
"I will," Li Chengan turned to Qin Ying and said, "Let's hurry to the Duke of Yi's mansion."
"Okay!"
Qin Ying became enthusiastic when she saw that Li Chengan had agreed to go in person.
In Qin Ying's memory, there seemed to be nothing that Li Chenggan couldn't handle.
The two left the East Palace and headed straight for the Yi Kingdom's residence.
Not long,
Li Chengan and Qin Ying then arrived at the gate of the Duke of Yi's mansion.
The Imperial Guards and the people from the Duke of Yi's mansion were already facing off.
Chang He led his 2000 imperial guards to surround the Duke of Yi's mansion, with swords drawn and bows strung, ready to charge in at any moment.
The prince consort Qin Huaiyu organized two or three hundred servants, armed with knives, spears, and clubs, to guard the gate of the mansion, and a great battle was about to break out.
