My father, Li Shimin, requests Your Majesty to become the Retired Emperor.

Li Shimin, with his hands behind his back, paced back and forth in the hall, and slowly said: "Princess Yicheng was captured by Li Jing. Li Jing said that Princess Yicheng was too wicked and had provoked a conflict between the two countries."

If it weren't for her, the Eastern Turks and our Tang Dynasty probably wouldn't have clashed so much.

Ultimately, all of this was caused by Princess Yicheng.

therefore,

Li Jing advocated for the execution of Princess Yicheng.

but,

I think that as a woman from the Sui Dynasty, she went to the Eastern Turkic Khaganate, married four men in succession, and suffered countless hardships. She was a pitiful person.

It's understandable that she has misunderstandings about our Tang Dynasty.

After all, our Li family were originally subjects of the Sui Dynasty.

Therefore, after much deliberation, I issued a decree to spare her life and imprison her in the Inner Palace so that she could reflect on her actions.

The woman Li Jing killed was not a princess, but a death row inmate who looked remarkably like her.

Upon hearing this, Xu Hui praised, "Your Majesty, you are truly a magnanimous person."

Princess Yicheng's sins were indeed grave.

She not only ruined herself, but also brought profound disasters to the people of the Tang Dynasty and the Turkic people.

The two countries could have lived in peace.

However, at her instigation, Khagan Jieli repeatedly led his troops south, harassing the borders of our Great Tang Dynasty.

Such a wicked person, if it were anyone else, probably no one could forgive her.

But then again, is it that you're attracted to her beauty and want to emulate Liu Bang?

Upon hearing this, Li Shimin frowned: "What do you mean by that?"

Xu Hui placed her hands in front of her abdomen: "Back then, Liu Bang conquered the Wei Kingdom, killed Wei Bao, and captured Wei Bao's wife, Bo Ji. He made her wash clothes, weave cloth, fetch water, and chop wood with other women."

Bo Ji had two sisters who made a pact that if one of them gained Liu Bang's favor in the future, she would recommend the other to him.

At first, Bo Ji did not receive the emperor's favor.

The other two women, however, gained Liu Bang's favor.

They felt sorry for Bo Ji, so they recommended her to Liu Bang.

One night, Liu Bang slept with Bo Ji.

Unexpectedly, on that one occasion, Bo Ji became pregnant and gave birth to a son named Liu Heng, who later became Emperor Wen of Han.

Does Your Majesty intend to favor Princess Yicheng?

Li Shimin listened, gave a wry smile, and waved his hand: "Your imagination is too rich."

I just felt sorry for her.

Now that we have conquered the Eastern Turkic Khaganate, it can no longer cause any trouble.

Besides, if I were to kill her, it would make me seem petty.

That was far too cruel to those people in the Sui Dynasty.

Xu Hui walked to the table, poured a cup of tea, and handed it to Li Shimin: "Your Majesty, I think I can understand your intentions."

However, not everyone in this world can overcome tribulations.

Like Yin Hongzhi, you saved him, but he wanted to kill you.

Whether Princess Yicheng had that kind of awareness is hard to say.

I'm afraid your good intentions will come to nothing.

If she stirs up trouble again, it might be detrimental to His Majesty.

From Xu Hui's words, Li Shimin sensed her concern for him.

Li Shimin waved his hand: "You're overthinking it. The Sui Dynasty is history, the Eastern Turks have been destroyed, and Khagan Jieli has surrendered to the Tang Dynasty and is now a subject of our Tang Dynasty."

What else could Princess Yicheng do?

Besides, what storms haven't I weathered?

Are you afraid of a woman?
