Chapter 489 Marina of the Wind, Shadow of Mount Hachiman
A week passed in the blink of an eye.
At 8 PM on Friday, the Ultraman-exclusive playback channels on major video platforms will open on time.
Countless tokusatsu fans were already waiting in front of their screens, frantically refreshing the page.
At 8:00 PM sharp, episode 13 was released, and the screen gradually lit up.
The title of this episode is "Maria of the Wind".
[They're here! Selling sunflower seeds and drinks in the front row!]
It's finally Friday!
[Judging from the title, this is Marina's solo episode! Looking forward to it!]
The scene begins with a dark, deep forest.
The mountains were eerily quiet in the dead of night.
A hiking enthusiast carrying a backpack is struggling through the woods with the help of the dim light of a flashlight.
Suddenly, a strange vibration came from the surrounding environment, and the leaves rustled.
The man sensed something was wrong, immediately turned off his flashlight, and hid in a nearby single tent, secretly observing the movements outside.
"Boom—!"
With a muffled roar, a terrifying monster, enormous in size and covered with countless segmented limbs, suddenly burst out of the ground!
A huge shadow instantly enveloped the entire camp.
The monster showed no mercy, stomping heavily on the tent where the man was!
Although the man reacted extremely quickly, he managed to scramble out at the last second.
But in the face of such absolute power, all struggles are in vain.
The ravenous monster opened its gaping maw and swallowed the desperately crying man whole.
The scene was deathly silent, with only a lone backpack lying scattered in the grass.
[Holy crap, this is fierce right from the start? It swallowed everything whole?]
This monster looks familiar; it kind of looks like a centipede.
Is it an old monster with a new suit?
The scene shifts to the sunlit command center of the GUYS base the following day.
In the command center, instead of staring at the data on the screen as usual, everyone gathered together to gossip.
"Did Marina go fishing?"
"Future asked with an innocent look on his face."
"You really don't know?"
Tang Zheping made a joke.
"It seems like they really don't know."
George explains:
"Friend, Touring is traveling by motorcycle."
"Yes, bring a bento box when the weather is nice."
Kinoko cupped her hands around her heart, her face filled with longing:
"I'm so envious!"
Captain Sakaki picked up his coffee. "By the way, who did she go with?"
Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment, then in unison gossiped:
"That person is...it really is my boyfriend!"
Just when everyone thought Marina was going on a date, Aihara Ryu shook his head helplessly, shattering everyone's illusions.
"No, no, that person is a man named Kakukura."
As he organized the documents in his hands, he explained:
"He was the coach of the off-road racing team she used to play for."
"What a boring thing to do."
Everyone immediately deflated.
Aihara Ryu added, "It seems that team suffered a crushing defeat in the Grand Prix qualifying rounds."
"To encourage the dejected captain, Marina asked him to go out."
Upon hearing this, Wei Lai smiled warmly:
"Marina is so nice."
[Haha, everyone's just watching the drama unfold!]
[Maria's figure is amazing for riding a motorcycle; the instructor must be eating well!]
Stop laughing, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought it was her boyfriend!
[The coach suffered a crushing defeat, and Marina went to comfort him; the bond between mentor and student is truly touching.]
The camera shifts, revealing a clear blue sky.
Marina returned to her hometown in Japan. Dressed in a smart racing suit, she sped along the winding mountain roads on a heavy motorcycle.
Coach Kakukura followed closely behind.
The two parked their motorcycle on the edge of a scenic cliff.
"it's beautiful!"
Coach Kakukura took off his helmet and took a deep breath of fresh air.
Upon seeing that familiar face, the audience began to gasp in surprise.
[New Town! It's you again!]
[I can't hold it in anymore! It seems that of all the dramas Light Chaser Animation Studios has produced so far, the old thief has a particular fondness for Xin Cheng!]
[666, that old thief saved on actor hiring costs again!]
"Riding a bike on a sunny day is definitely the best experience."
"I'm so sorry, you finally have a day off," Coach Kakukura said apologetically.
Marina smiled and shook her head:
"I didn't make any plans with anyone else."
"But working at GUYS must be very tiring, right?"
"It's alright, it's nothing serious."
Marina seemed very relaxed.
Coach Kakukura looked at his beloved student with deep emotion:
"I still can't believe it, Marina, that you're fighting monsters in a fighter jet."
"I can't believe it myself."
Marina smiled.
Don't push yourself too hard.
"What?"
"Actually, I..."
Before Coach Kakukura could finish speaking, Marina's expression suddenly changed, and she stared intently at the edge of the cliff not far away.
"What's wrong?"
"That person...isn't he strange?"
Marina pointed ahead.
A woman in a yellow coat was standing on the very edge of the cliff, teetering on the verge of falling.
"Could it be..." Marina gasped.
"Coach Kakukura!"
The next second, the woman in yellow suddenly leaped down!
"He jumped!"
"Let's go down and take a look!" The two were terrified and immediately rushed down the cliff along the path beside them.
Holy crap! Jumping off a cliff without a second thought?!
The coach was interrupted from casting a spell before he could finish speaking.
What's going on here? Is this some kind of staged accident?
[New City, hurry and fly there to pick him up!]
The two ran wildly down the rugged mountain path.
"Strange, it should be in this area."
Coach Kakukura searched everywhere.
"There's a hiking backpack here."
He found a backpack in the grass and quickly went over to rummage through it.
Just then, he suddenly heard a sound behind him!
I turned around.
However, he was met with a clean and decisive over-the-shoulder throw!
"Splash!"
Coach Kakukura was slammed heavily into the nearby lake, letting out a scream: "Why am I so unlucky?!"
The woman in yellow dusted off her hands and pointed angrily at him:
"Don't touch other people's things!"
Coach Kakukura winced in pain.
Marina heard the noise and quickly ran over:
"That's true, but you can't just suddenly throw someone like that! I thought it was a thief!"
"Don't joke around, I don't look like a thief at all!"
"You do look quite like her!" the woman retorted defiantly.
"Wait a minute!" Marina glared at her.
"Don't you think what you said was excessive? Apologize now!"
Just as the two were about to clash, the woman took off her sunglasses.
She stared in disbelief at the woman in yellow before her.
"Maria?" The woman in yellow recognized her as well.
"I'm so sorry!" Marina quickly apologized on behalf of the coach.
In the scene, Marina begins to introduce the woman's identity to the coach.
"She is Yuko Sawaki."
"I met him by chance when I was taking the GUYS certificate exam."
The scene then cuts to a flashback.
Outside the GUYS exam room.
A man with a sleazy appearance and an arrogant attitude is complaining loudly.
"Damn it! A woman wants to take the GUYS exam? How arrogant!" He grumbled at the female candidates around him with a look of disdain.
Just then, Yuko Sawaki rushed forward without hesitation and delivered a perfect over-the-shoulder throw to him!
"Bang!" The man was slammed heavily to the ground.
Yuko looked down at him and said coldly, "Don't you think that's going too far? Apologize now!"
"What did you say!" The man struggled to get up.
Yuko looked disgusted: "I hate impulsive guys the most, that's why I threw him!"
Coach Kakukura suddenly realized, rubbing his shoulder and saying, "Oh, I see. I'll pay attention to that next time."
Marina suddenly laughed: "Oh right, speaking of impulsive people, there's one in GUYS too. He's also an impulsive, hot-blooded idiot."
"Really? Marina joined GUYS later, just like that." Yuko was clearly very interested in the news about the defense force.
"And what about motorcycles?" she asked curiously. "Didn't you used to dream of dominating the world as a female racer?"
Marina didn't answer directly, but instead asked, "What about Yuko? Did she go mountain climbing?"
"Yes, this time I want to attempt to conquer Mount Everest." Yuko said with a proud look on her face.
"Are you a mountaineer?" Coach Kakukura exclaimed in surprise, his mouth agape.
"Now you know, I'm a female mountaineer." Yuko patted her chest.
"So, just now on the cliff..."
"So he used a rope to get down!" Coach Kakukura realized that the other person hadn't jumped off the cliff to commit suicide at all.
Yuko said apologetically, "I'm sorry to have startled you."
[She just mentioned "hot-blooded idiot," which is definitely a dig at Aihara Ryu!]
[This is hilarious! Long Sang's reputation has been unfairly damaged!]
[Hot-blooded idiot: Just give me my ID number!]
This female mountaineer is incredibly strong; the coach deserved to be thrown.
The uploader is right; these kinds of details are really touching. We're all normal people with feelings and emotions.
[Feminist warning! That complaining guy deserved to be thrown!]
The plot continues to unfold.
Yuko's smile faded, and her expression turned serious.
"But I'm not practicing."
She pointed to the bushes not far away, "I found something suspicious at the cliff, and I'm still wondering who threw it away."
"It's not broken inside, that's really strange."
She was referring to the backpack that Marina had found earlier.
"Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'm still a little bothered by it." Yuko frowned.
"You're not overthinking it," Kakukura reminded him.
Just then, a tattered piece of clothing floated down from the nearby stream.
The clothes were covered in mud, and the tear marks were shocking.
"What is this?"
Picking up the clothes, the group gasped in shock.
Suddenly, a muffled gunshot rang out from the depths of the forest not far away!
"Gunshots!"
The three exchanged a glance and immediately realized something was wrong. They quickly ran in the direction from which the sound came.
The forest was dimly lit, and the trees were towering.
They parted the bushes and found a discarded hunting rifle on the ground.
"I did hear it was in this area, and it was a shotgun."
Marina crouched down to examine her.
"It appears they were attacked after the shooting began."
"What attacked us?" Kakukura looked around nervously. "Was it a wild dog? Or a bear?"
Marina's gaze sharpened, and she said in a deep voice, "Monster."
The moment she finished speaking.
The earth trembled again.
"boom!"
The giant centipede monster Mukadanda suddenly burst out of the ground in front of them!
Its massive, spiky body writhed wildly in the forest, emitting chilling roars.
Holy crap! What a huge centipede! It's triggering my trypophobia!
[The centipede monster Mukadanda! This monster has quite a background, first appearing in episode 26 of Ultraman Taro!]
[This face is so creepy! I had nightmares about it last night!]
[Are there some veterans in the comments? They even remember Taro's monsters!]
Wow, his head is actually at the bottom! This makes it so hard to spot Marina and the others in the woods!
The scene quickly cuts back to the GUYS base.
A glaring red alert flashed on the main screen.
"An unusual electric field has been confirmed in the Yamanashiyama area!" Miki Yuki informed.
"It may be caused by a strong voltage effect."
"Voltage effect?"
"It's a phenomenon that can be observed when high pressure is generated underground." Miki Yuki pulled up the data, "The Yamanashi area contains piezoelectric materials."
"There may be some huge object moving around."
Captain Sakakizumi asked seriously, "Was it caused by a monster?"
"We can't be certain yet," Miki Yuki replied. "Just in case, I hope you will conduct an on-site investigation."
"Understood." Everyone immediately accepted the order.
Just then, Aihara Ryu suddenly remembered something and exclaimed, "It seems that Marina's camping spot is Mount Hachiman!"
These words instantly heightened the tension in the command room.
"Hey, are you sure?" George asked eagerly.
"Now that you mention it, I'm not so sure anymore..."
Kino immediately tried to contact Marina: "Marina's communicator isn't answering!"
Tang Zheping gritted his teeth, his face turning ashen: "I have a bad feeling..."
The camera cuts back to Mount Hachiman.
Marina, Yuko, and Coach Kakukura were desperately running and hiding in the woods.
To escape the monster's pursuit, the three discovered a hidden cave ahead and rushed in without hesitation.
The cave was dark and damp.
The three leaned against the rock wall, panting heavily.
The roars of the monsters outside were still deafening, and the tremors of the earth caused rocks to fall continuously from the top of the cave.
At least this narrow cave is safe for now.
Behind him, Mukadanda's massive body rampaged through the forest, snapping thick trees like matchsticks, but clearly unable to attack the people inside the cave.
"Damn it! What kind of monster is that!" Marina pulled out the memory display device from her waist.
She quickly began operating the instrument.
"A monster of the same species has been found in the ZAT files." The monster's data popped up on the instrument's screen.
"Mokadanda".
"So, it's a centipede-shaped monster." Marina looked at the information on the screen.
"It seems to lurk underground, only coming to the surface when it's feeding."
Marina gripped the memory display device tightly, trying to contact the base again.
"It's me, Marina. Can you hear me?"
However, only a harsh static tone came from the communicator.
"No, I can't get in touch with her." Marina lowered her wrist in despair.
The roaring sound outside the cave grew closer and closer, as if the footsteps of death were approaching.
The three were completely trapped in this desolate mountain, cut off from all contact with the outside world.
