Entertainment Industry: I am a top-tier movie star
Chapter 57 Naza's Visit to the Set
The film "Take My Brother Away" was quietly filmed in a rented old middle school classroom and staff dormitory.
There was no grand opening ceremony, no throngs of media, only a group of enthusiastic and apprehensive young people, and a few pieces of equipment bearing the film academy's label.
Zhang Lei stood behind the makeshift monitor, took a deep breath, picked up the walkie-talkie, and tried his best to keep his voice steady:
"Take My Brother Away," Scene 1, Shot 1, First Take, Ready—Three, Two, One, Action!"
The clapper sounded crisply, and the camera focused on Liu Haochun, who was sitting at the table, impatiently twirling a pen, and Chen Nianbei, who was grinning and trying to poke her arm with a pen.
The filming process was not without its challenges.
Although Liu Haochun has great talent and a good feel for things, it's inevitable that he'd be nervous, as it was his first time facing the camera and going through the entire film crew process.
In the first few takes, she either stumbled over her lines or unconsciously looked for the camera.
"Haochun, relax. Don't think of this as a movie. Just think of this as your brother who's always causing trouble for you."
Chen Nianbei gently guided the camera from off-camera, her tone calm and unhurried.
He was not only the lead actor, but also implicitly took on some of the responsibility of acting guidance.
Zhang Lei would also call a stop, walk over and patiently explain the scene to her, breaking down the emotions.
Gradually, Liu Haochun found her rhythm. Especially when acting opposite Chen Nianbei, his precise timing and genuine reactions drew her firmly into the scene.
The tense yet subtly affectionate interactions between the siblings gradually come to life.
Zhou Yiran, who plays "Miao Miaomiao", delivers a stable, lively, and clever performance, adding a lot of highlights to the film.
Wang Hao's "Long Live" was an unexpected delight. His inherent honest and sunny personality, with just a little guidance, allowed him to seamlessly blend into the role, contributing a lot of natural laughs.
As a novice director, Zhang Lei faced immense pressure. However, he was diligent and well-prepared, reviewing the day's footage with Chen Nianbei every night after work to adjust the shooting schedule for the next day.
Teacher Li occasionally visits the set and offers some professional advice.
Although the entire crew was rudimentary, they operated with increasing efficiency, and a sense of unity and shared purpose quietly grew amidst their sweat and boxed lunches.
That afternoon, the scene being filmed was a one-woman show where Shi Miao was at a loss at home after discovering her brother had disappeared.
The scene takes place in a rented old apartment, where light shines through dusty windows, creating a spacious and desolate atmosphere.
Liu Haochun, dressed in his school uniform, stood alone in the center of the slightly messy living room.
The camera zooms in, capturing the subtle expressions on her face.
From initial confusion to an urgent, subconscious search, and then, after searching in vain, standing in the empty living room, a tremendous sense of loss and a vague sense of panic washed over me.
She didn't cry or scream, but her eyes slowly reddened, her nose wrinkled slightly, her lips were pursed tightly, her fingers unconsciously picked at the hem of her school uniform, and her shoulders slumped slightly.
It portrays a young girl's vulnerability and helplessness after a vital support has been removed, which is extremely moving.
Behind the monitor, Zhang Lei held his breath until Liu Haochun's last slight tremor subsided before he shouted out with all his might:
"Click! Great! This is fantastic!"
The staff on site breathed a sigh of relief, and their gazes toward Liu Haochun became more approving.
This girl is growing up at an astonishing rate.
Just as everyone was preparing to move to the next location to set up the next shot, a small commotion came from the entrance of the set.
A figure wearing a baseball cap and mask, and dressed in a crisp white dress, quietly entered, accompanied by her assistant, Xiao Yang.
Despite being well-covered, her tall figure and unique demeanor still made her recognized by several sharp-eyed staff members.
It's Naza.
She had just finished filming a male-male drama, but she still managed to squeeze out time to come and see Chen Nianbei.
Chen Nianbei was discussing the angle of the next shot with the photographer when he looked up and saw Nazha standing on the sidelines, quietly waving at him.
He paused for a moment, then smiled slightly, said "Wait a moment" to the photographer, and walked over.
"Why are you here? Didn't you say you had a very busy schedule?"
Chen Nianbei walked up to her and asked in a low voice.
He still had some makeup on his face, and he was wearing the slightly loose old T-shirt that "Shifen" wore. There were fine beads of sweat on his forehead.
Naza took off her mask, revealing a bright smile, her eyes sparkling as she looked at him:
"I missed you, so I came. I also took the opportunity to check on the work."
Her tone was relaxed, but when her gaze swept over his slightly tired yet unusually focused eyes, a fleeting pity crossed her eyes.
"Visiting the set is fine, but 'inspecting' it is too much."
Chen Nianbei chuckled, and naturally raised his hand to wipe away a speck of dust that had gotten onto the tip of her nose with the back of his finger.
"Have you got a meal yet?"
"I ate something on the way."
Naza let him do as he pleased, her cheeks flushed, and her gaze couldn't help but linger on his face.
I hadn't seen him for a while, and he seemed to have lost some weight, but his eyes were more composed and sharp. The way he looked in his costume on set had a special charm.
"Teacher Chen, Director Zhang is asking if you're all done here?"
The stagehand came over and asked in a low voice.
"immediately."
Chen Nianbei responded and said to Nazha, "I still have things to do here. Why don't you go sit on my chair for a while? I'll have Xiao Yang take you there; there's water and a fan. We might finish work very late tonight..."
"It's okay, you go about your business, don't worry about me."
Naza quickly said, "I'll just look, I won't say anything."
Naza's arrival was like a refreshing breeze, bringing a moment of relaxation to the busy film set.
She sat obediently next to Chen Nianbei's folding chair with his name on it, while Xiao Yang held an umbrella for her.
She observed everything on set with curiosity.
Busy staff members, Zhang Lei staring intently at the monitor, actors moving around repeatedly, and Chen Nianbei, who instantly transforms into "Shi Fen" in front of the camera, vividly portraying laughter, anger, and swearing.
She patiently guided him when she saw him acting with Liu Haochun;
When he communicated with other actors, he was concise and to the point.
During his break, he was seen discussing the shots with Zhang Lei and the photographer.
His profile was sharply defined in the summer afternoon light, and his focused expression was captivating.
A feeling of pride and admiration welled up in Naza's heart.
I am proud of his excellence and admire his focus.
The filming continued until evening.
Naza stayed quietly, not disturbing anyone, but her gaze remained fixed on the figure in the blue and white theatrical costume.
As darkness fell, Zhang Lei finally called it a day and said it was time to call it a day.
Chen Nianbei changed out of her costume and removed her makeup. Her face looked tired, but her eyes were still bright.
He walked up to Naza: "Have you been waiting long? Are you hungry? What would you like to eat?"
"You decide, I'm fine with either."
Naza stood up and naturally reached out to take his hand, but seeing the staff who hadn't all left, she withdrew and just looked at him with her eyes crinkled.
The two found a clean restaurant near the film and television base.
During the meal, Naza started chattering about her recent schedule, complaining that Sister Li had given her too much work, and mentioning that she seemed to have a chance at auditioning for a new drama.
Chen Nianbei mostly listened, occasionally putting food on her plate and asking a few questions about the details.
"And you? Is filming a movie particularly tiring? You look thinner."
Naza looked at him with a pained expression.
"It was alright, quite fulfilling."
Chen Nianbei smiled and said, "Zhang Lei is very hardworking, and Hao Chun and the others are also very diligent."
Seeing the film gradually take shape feels good.
"Um……"
Naza nodded, then suddenly lowered her voice, which carried a hint of coquetry and anticipation.
"Then... I'll come to your place tonight? My flight is early tomorrow morning."
Chen Nianbei looked into her bright eyes and nodded:
"it is good."
Back in the small single room that Chen Nianbei had temporarily rented near the film set, the place was small but clean.
As soon as the door closed, Naza couldn't help but rush into his arms, hug him tightly, bury her face in his chest, and take a deep breath of his scent.
"I really miss you..." she said sullenly.
Chen Nianbei hugged her back, gently stroked her long hair, and lowered his head to kiss the top of her head.
The day's fatigue seemed to dissipate considerably in this hug.
That night, there were few words. The longing of separation and the thrill of seeing another side of him during the set visit all transformed into the most direct warmth and touch.
On the small single bed, they snuggled together, sharing each other's body heat and breath.
The next day, before dawn, Naza had to get up quietly to catch his flight.
Chen Nianbei also woke up and leaned against the headboard watching her wash up and get ready.
"Be careful on the road, text me when you arrive." His voice was low and hoarse from just waking up.
"Um."
Naza, fully dressed, walked to the bedside, leaned down, and placed a gentle kiss on his lips.
"Don't overwork yourself."
After seeing Nazar off, Chen Nianbei stood by the window as dawn broke.
The warmth of the set visit still lingers in my heart, but what's clearer is my reflection on today's shooting schedule.
Filming for "Take My Brother Away" is already halfway complete.
