Chapter 35 Facing the Shadows, You Are Like a True Gryffindor!
"What nonsense are you spouting, Baskin?" Malfoy's voice trembled violently. "Don't scare me."
Lowe ignored him. He stood by the oak roots, his left hand suddenly raised in a stop gesture. His gaze was fixed intently ahead.
In the clearing ahead lay a pure white unicorn. Its once beautiful mane, shimmering with a pearly luster, was now stained with filthy mud and silvery blood. The blood glowed faintly in the moonlight, like shattered starlight scattered on the ground.
And on that sacred corpse, a dark figure lay sprawled.
It was a humanoid figure wearing a tattered hood, like a giant vampire bat, or a clump of mud crawling out of hell. It lay on the unicorn's torn wound, making gurgling sucking sounds, devouring the magical blood in large gulps.
[Warning! High-level dark creature detected!]
[Race: Ringwraith/Projection of Sauron]
Threat Level: Skull Level (Instant Death Risk)
[Status: Thirsty/Weak/Blaspheming the Holy Spirit]
A red warning box flashed wildly on Rowe's retina.
"Aaaaaah!" Malfoy finally saw the monster eating and let out a scream.
The dark figure paused.
The next second, Malfoy turned and ran. Fang wasn't going to be outdone, and followed closely behind, disappearing into the darkness with its tail between its legs.
Only Rowe and Harry remained at the scene.
Harry stood frozen in place, his hands tightly covering his forehead.
"It hurts...it hurts so much..." he groaned in pain, the scar on his forehead feeling like it was about to split open, the burning sensation making it almost impossible for him to stand.
The dark figure slowly raised its head.
Beneath the hood lay a void of darkness, obscuring facial features, with only two eerie green will-o'-the-wisps flickering in the depths.
It stood up and approached Harry.
[Fear Check: Begin...]
[Enemy uses the following abilities: [Dark Lord's Gaze] / [Netherworld Howl]]
Your willpower is being crushed...
It was a fear from the depths of his soul, the instinctive tremor of a mortal facing a higher-ranking evil being. His legs felt as heavy as lead, every muscle screaming "Run!"
Run! Run! This is not something you can handle!
You're just an 11-year-old wizard! You don't even know a decent attack spell! That's Voldemort! That's Sauron!
But Harry was still there, now kneeling on the ground, groaning in pain.
If they run away now, the one who upholds the precepts will surely die.
If I don't run, I might die too.
"Damn system...damn hairline..."
Luo Wei bit his lip hard, drawing blood. The taste of blood spread in his mouth, and the stinging pain brought him back to his senses from the frozen fear.

"No..."
Lowe let out a low growl from deep in his throat.
He suddenly stepped forward, standing between Harry and the terrifying dark figure.
He stood with his feet apart, in a horse stance, and gripped the rough black thornwood wand tightly with both hands—no, at this moment, it was a two-handed greatsword that could cut through the darkness!
"Step back! Ghost!"
Lowe's voice was deafeningly loud in the silent Forbidden Forest.
You shall not pass!
This curse-like roar seemed to possess some kind of magic.
The shadowy figure stopped. It seemed slightly puzzled by the tiny insect that dared to block its way. Its cold gaze shifted from Harry to Rowe.
Luo Wei felt like he was standing naked in a Siberian blizzard, his soul about to be frozen.
But he did not back down. He took a deep breath, gathered all the magic in his body, and focused it on the tip of his wand.
"Lumos!"
With a roar, Lowe swung his cane down with both hands, as if chopping!
This is more than just a light spell.
Under the system's epic rendering, the tip of the wand no longer emitted a faint glow, but a blinding white light like a supernova explosion!
[Skill Unleashed: Light of Elandir]
[Effect: Inflicts blindness and holy damage on dark creatures]
The light instantly illuminated half of the Forbidden Forest, stretching the surrounding shadows long and distorted. It was the starlight most abhorred by all evil creatures, a judgment from the Valar!
The dark figure was startled by the sudden bright light, let out a strange cry like the hiss of a venomous snake, and took half a step back.
But it was only half a step.
It approached again, and something seemed to be surging beneath its black robes. The aura of death was overwhelming; Rowe could even smell the dust and rotting blood emanating from it, reminiscent of an ancient tomb.
"It's no use..." Luo Wei's palms were covered in cold sweat. "Prepare for a physical exorcism..."
He gripped the wand handle tightly, ready to smash its skull with the S-grade hardness wand the moment it lunged at him.
At this critical moment.
"Da da da—da da da—"
The rapid sound of horses' hooves broke the stalemate. The sound came from afar, rolling across the earth like thunder.
To Luo Wei, the sound was not merely the clatter of hooves; it was the bugle call of the Luo Han cavalry charging forward, the awe-inspiring roar of a thousand horses galloping towards them! Reinforcements had arrived!
"Get out of my way, you monster!"
A tall figure leaped out of the woods, like a red lightning bolt tearing through the darkness.
His upper body was that of a strong human male, and his lower body that of a magnificent chestnut horse. He had red hair and strikingly blue eyes, which at this moment burned with the flames of rage.
Ferenc the Centaur!
He leaped high into the air, his powerful forelegs kicking fiercely at the dark figure.
The shadowy figure clearly didn't want to face such a heavy physical blow. It let out an angry and unwilling roar, and its body instantly transformed into a flowing black mist, quickly disappearing into the darkness deep within the forest, skimming along the ground.
[Battle over.]
The enemy unit has withdrawn.
The light from the wand in Rowe's hand flickered twice and then went out.
"Huff...huff..."
He was panting heavily, his body drenched in cold sweat, and his legs gave way, almost causing him to collapse to his knees. That brief minute had seemed to have exhausted all the courage he had ever mustered in his life.
"How are you?"
The centaur turned around and gently pulled Harry up from the ground.
"Thank you..." Harry said weakly, his face as pale as paper.
It was only then that Luo Wei came to his senses. He straightened up, supporting himself on his knees, and looked up at the tall creature in front of him.
[Allied Unit Confirmed: Captain of the Rohan Cavalry/Emissary of Vala]
[Affection Level: Neutral to Friendly]
Rowe straightened his disheveled robes, trying to stop his legs from trembling. He held the wand that had just served as a greatsword upright in front of his chest, pressed his right fist against his left chest, and gave Ferenze a solemn knightly salute.
"Thank you for your support, Rohan's ally," Rowe said in a deep voice, his tone filled with relief at surviving the ordeal. "If you hadn't arrived in time, this forest would have been completely swallowed by darkness tonight."
The centaur Ferenze paused for a moment. He stared at Rowe with a strange look in his eyes for a while.
"I am Ferenze," he began. "Rohan? I don't know this tribe. But I see your courage, young foal."
He looked up at the sky obscured by the tree canopy, and through the gaps in the leaves, he could see an exceptionally bright red star.
"Mars is very bright tonight," Ferenc sighed, her ponytail swinging nervously. "That usually means war and bloodshed. But the stars indicate... you're a variable."
"A variable?" Lowe frowned. "You mean, the spindle of fate has formed a knot?"
“The stars’ orbits have been disrupted.” Ferrenze didn’t explain Rowe’s strange analogy. He bent down, lowered his horse, and said, “Get on, Harry Potter. This forest is no longer safe, especially for you. As for you, Mr. Baggins, can you keep up?”
"Of course." Rowe patted his thigh. "Hobbits are known for their stamina."
The three (or rather, two people and a horse) began to retreat towards the edge of the forbidden forest.
Rowe followed behind Ferrenze, his wand still gripped tightly, scanning the shadows around him warily, like a dutiful Fellowship of the Ring.
As we stepped out of the forbidden forest, moonlight shone on the grass, and the world seemed to return to the human realm.
Harry slid off Ferrenze's back and glanced back at Rowe.
"Love," Harry said softly, "thank you... for what you said earlier. That shout really sounded like..."
"Like what?"
"Like a real Gryffindor," Harry said earnestly.
Luo Wei was taken aback.
He forced a tired smile.
"No, Harry," he thought to himself, looking at the boy who had miraculously survived, "I'm just a hobbit who wants to live and keep his hairline."
