Chapter 67: Sending food – a diplomatic victory!
In the abandoned girls' washroom on the second floor.
A crucible was placed on the toilet seat, with dark brown bubbles bubbling inside.
Hermione was intently adding chopped lacewings into the mixture, her hair disheveled and her face smeared with cigarette ash.
"Is it still not ready?" Ron asked weakly, slumped in the next cubicle, his stomach rumbling loudly. "I think I'm going to faint from this smell. And I'm so hungry... I think my stomach has already started digesting itself."
"Patience, soldier."
A deep voice came from the doorway.
Harry and Ron looked up sharply, but there was no one in the air. The door was pushed open, and then several tightly wrapped oil paper bags appeared out of thin air, as if carried by ghosts, before landing steadily on the dusty sink.
As the light and shadow rippled like water, Luo Wei removed his invisibility cloak, gradually revealing his figure. He carefully folded up the silver-gray cloak.
"The supply line is open." Rowe handed the Invisibility Cloak back to Harry. "In order to get these things in, I had to take a long detour, crossing the 'Death Swamp' (the waterlogged corridor on the first floor) and the 'Orc Patrol Area' (the entrance to Filch's office)."
"Love!" Ron cheered, his voice like that of someone who had seen a savior. He sprang from the toilet seat and lunged at the paper bags. "Thank you, Merlin! Thank you, Gandalf! What did you bring?"
"Hufflepuff's Special Beef Sandwich, with double the cheese and pickles. And freshly baked rock crust... I mean, nut cakes." Rowe opened the bag, and a rich aroma of food instantly burst forth, miraculously overpowering the smell of dead rats in the crucible. "An army marches on its stomach. That's a fundamental law of war. An army that hasn't had its fill of food cannot win a battle."
Harry joined in, grabbed a sandwich, and wolfed it down. "If it weren't for you, Rowe, we'd starve to death here before we even transformed into Crabbe and Goyle. Or we'd be turned into salted fish by this pot of medicine."
"This is just a small part of logistical support." Rowe leaned against the sink. "In this cave filled with poisonous gas and curses, maintaining physical strength is key to survival."
Hermione finally looked up from the cauldron, took the bottle of warm pumpkin juice from Rowe, and gratefully took a big gulp. "Thank you, Rowe. Although you described this place as a dungeon, it really helped. And... your descriptions made this disgusting potion sound less unbearable."
“This was originally a dungeon,” Rowe pointed to the dripping ceiling above him, “and there’s a vengeful earthbound spirit watching us. It’s the standard opening for all horror stories.”
As if to confirm his words, a shrill, neurotic laugh suddenly rang in Rowe's ears.
"Hehe...you're here again, the boy with the frying pan. Did you come to see how much I'm crying?"
A weeping Myrtle emerged from the water tank behind Rowe, splashing water everywhere. Her translucent body floated in the air as she adjusted her thick, bottle-bottom-like glasses. Surprisingly, however, she didn't throw a tantrum or scream as usual; instead, she looked at Rowe with a shy expression.
"I really liked that paper flower you gave me last time," Myrtle said shyly, fiddling with her braids, her voice barely audible. "Even though it rotted when it got wet, I hid it in a U-tube. You were the first person to give me anything... ever since I died."
Harry and Ron stared at Rowe in horror, forgetting to chew their sandwiches.
"You sent her flowers?" Ron's eyes widened, as if he saw Voldemort dancing ballet. "For Myrtle? That crybaby who spills water everywhere?"
"That's part of the [Requiem Ritual]," Luo Wei explained without changing his expression, while taking out a gold candy wrapper from his pocket and folding it into an exquisite paper crane in a few seconds with nimble fingers. "For these vengeful spirits that linger in the human world due to unnatural deaths, they must be regularly comforted, otherwise they will become violent due to the accumulation of resentment and turn into terrifying demons."
He gently placed the golden paper crane on the edge of the water tank, and then performed an elaborate Middle-earth prayer.
"May your soul find peace in the temple of Mandos, lady. May the starlight illuminate your dark tank."
Moved, Madam Myrtle covered her mouth, tears welling up behind her thick glasses.
"Oh, no one has ever been so kind to me..." Myrtle sobbed, her body spinning in the air with emotion. "Everyone calls me 'Ugly Myrtle,' 'Crybaby Myrtle,' but you...you call me 'Madam'...and you even gave me a golden crane..."
She suddenly swooped down, opening her arms as if to give Rowe a warm hug.
Luo Wei's pupils contracted slightly.
[Warning: Ghost units are charging]

[Recommendation: Dodge]
But he took a half step back, maintaining a perfectly gentlemanly distance, with his hand on his chest.
"Keep your distance, ma'am."
"The boundary between the living and the dead cannot be crossed. This is the law of nature. If we touch it, the cold will hurt me, and my body heat will burn you."
Myrtle hovered in mid-air, just inches from Lowe's nose. She stared at him, mesmerized by his words.
"You're so strange...you talk like a bard." She chuckled, her voice echoing between the tiled walls. "But I like it. Okay, I won't touch you. As long as you bring me those origami again next time."
After saying that, she let out a string of laughs, then jumped back into the toilet, splashing water everywhere and almost soaking Ron to the bone.
Hermione stared in disbelief, nearly dropping the stirring rod into the crucible.
"Unbelievable." Hermione shook her head, looking at Rowe as if he were some kind of magical creature. "You actually... tamed Myrtle? She doesn't even spare Harry; she even tried to peek at him taking a bath last time..."
"It's not about taming, it's about diplomacy," Lowe said calmly. "To establish a base behind enemy lines, you must cultivate good relations with the local inhabitants. That's the survival wisdom of a wandering knight. Sometimes, a word of praise is more effective than ten exorcism spells."
Just then, a system settlement interface popped up in front of Luo Wei's eyes, with golden text flashing:
[Logistics mission completed: Day 12]
[Outpost maintenance successful]
[Diplomatic assessment: A major success]
Myrtle's favorability rating has changed from "Neutral" to "Friendly".
[Gain hidden buff: Protection of the Wraith (The chance of Filch finding you in this restroom is reduced by 50%)]
[Skill Upgrade: Team Logistics Lv2]
[Effect: You are better at finding and allocating supplies in harsh environments; teammates' stamina recovery speed +10%; food taste rating +1.]
"Alright, today's supply mission is complete."
Lowe glanced at the system time, straightened his collar, and said, "I have to go back. If I disappear for too long, Professor Sprout will think I've been captured by ogres or kidnapped by spiders in the Forbidden Forest to be their wife."
He walked to the door, put his hand on the doorknob, and looked back at the bubbling crucible and the three exhausted but determined-looking companions surrounding it.
"Hang in there for another week, Hermione." A glint of anticipation flashed in Rowe's eyes. "The moment the potion is ready, that's when we'll launch our counterattack on Isengard (Slytherin's Crypt). Then, we'll show Saruman that hobbits aren't to be trifled with."
Hermione looked at him and smiled helplessly, but there was a sense of relief in her eyes.
"Understood, Commander," she said softly, picking up the stirring stick again. "Let's hurry, before Filch catches us. The toilets here aren't even finished yet."
