Just as the bell rang to signal the end of get out of class, Xue Ren stopped writing with the chalk.

He dusted off his hands with chalk dust, said, "Class dismissed, students," then picked up his lesson plan and turned to leave.

Lin Chuan was a little surprised that the class didn't go overtime. Maybe it was because it was the first time teaching and they wanted to leave a good impression?

But he didn't care about any of that. Now that class was over, he prepared to put away his textbook and Chinese test paper.

The next moment, someone reached out and pressed their hand on his textbook. The outstretched hand was fair and slender. Lin Chuan understood the ancient saying about slender jade fingers, but what he was thinking was, wouldn't it be a waste not to use such beautiful hands to play the piano?

"Hey, are you going to snatch the exam paper too?" Lin Chuan looked up at the girl and said.

"I just want to see how many points the class monitor got on the Chinese test," the girl said with a bright smile.

"I won't let you see it." Lin Chuan showed no mercy.

"Then I won't look at the grades," Chen Xiyu released her grip. "What if other students ask the class monitor to look at their essays? You won't let them either?"

"Who?"

Following behind Chen Xiyu, Zhou Yun asked, "Class monitor, may I see your essay?"

"You want to read my essay?"

As if afraid he would refuse, Zhou Yun's voice trailed off, "Um, the teacher said I can borrow it from you..."

"Okay, but don't let your deskmate see the test paper." Lin Chuan released his hand.

Before Zhou Yun could even pick up her test paper, Chen Xiyu was already faster, flipping over Lin Chuan's test paper directly.

She glanced at the score and said, "Hey, you only got 70 points. You're two points short of passing."

"You don't understand, this is a strategy," Lin Chuan said.

"What strategy?"

"I want the homeroom teacher to replace me as class monitor," Lin Chuan said seriously, "so I deliberately didn't perform to my full potential. Look, I only got 48 on my essay, didn't I?"

"I also got 48 on my essay," Chen Xiyu said. "Is that high?"

Lin Chuan almost forgot that the girl in front of him had a Chinese exam paper with a score of 118. However, the teacher didn't mention her composition, so he guessed it was a standard "exam composition." Although the score was high, he didn't think it would be recommended to read it.

It's just a junior high school essay, enough for exam purposes.

"Sincerity can't be reciprocated." Lin Chuan simply sighed.

After Chinese class in the morning, it's straight into math class.

Their math teacher, surnamed Wang, was an old man in his sixties who rarely smiled. After coming in, he handed out test papers, briefly explained the class's performance, and then began his lesson.

When Lin Chuan looked at his math score, it was slightly higher than his Chinese score, but not by much. He got 72 points, which was barely passing. Middle school math was really simple, but unfortunately, he couldn't remember some of the concepts very well.

If he doesn't excel in these two subjects, even if he gets a perfect score in English, he'll probably still rank near the bottom of the class.

However, he didn't care. It was just a preliminary assessment of the junior high school curriculum. Whether he did well or poorly on the test, it wouldn't really affect him.

Some high schools use it as a placement test, but the No. 1 High School in the city just uses it to assess students' abilities. The main purpose is to let the students in the class know their own situation and also to indirectly encourage everyone to study harder in high school.

The last class in the afternoon was English.

A few minutes before class started, a young female teacher walked in. She was wearing a light purple dress, carrying a small handbag, with her long, slightly wavy hair and delicate makeup.

I don’t know if it’s a stereotype, but in Lin Chuan’s memory, every school’s English teacher was probably the most fashionable and best-looking.

Even in his previous ordinary high school, the situation was the same.

"Good afternoon, students. I am your English teacher, Zhang Jiayan," Zhang Jiayan said with a smile.

"Hey, our English teacher is really good-looking," Wang Xu said in a low voice.

Lin Chuan glanced at him. "You don't have feelings for the teacher, do you?"

"No? No, that's not it!" Wang Xu quickly said. "I was just making a comment. Look at our Chinese and math teachers, they're the kind of teachers who seem a bit old-fashioned. The difference is so obvious."

Two teachers in the office sneezed unexpectedly, as if someone was thinking of them.

"She looks so young, she probably just graduated not long ago, so don't attack her teaching certificate," Lin Chuan said.

"Attack on a teacher's certificate? What does that mean?" Wang Xu was completely bewildered.

Lin Chuan waved his hand, "Forget it, you wouldn't understand."

Zhang Jiayan looked at the students in the class and asked, "Our class doesn't have an English class representative yet, right? Who is the class monitor? Come up and hand out the test papers."

Lin Chuan walked over, and as he stood up, he called out, "Come with me."

"what?"

"Distribute the test papers." How could Lin Chuan let this guy slack off?

"No, please."

Lin Chuan pulled him up immediately. "Good brother, we share the good times, but you can't escape the bad times."

Zhang Jiayan looked at Lin Chuan and asked, "What's the class monitor's name?"

"Lin Chuan".

Zhang Jiayan paused for a moment, then said, "This time you got the highest score in English in our class, and one of only two to get a perfect score. Your English essay was very well written. Even senior high school students would probably find it difficult to write those long and complex sentences."

"Thank you, teacher," Lin Chuan thought to himself, though he was no longer very good at writing even simple sentences.

"Have you studied this before?" Zhang Jiayan asked.

"Yes, I've read some books myself," Lin Chuan said.

"It's great," Zhang Jiayan said with a smile. "Let's do the trial curling first."

Lin Chuan took the test paper and gave half of it to Wang Xu. The guy was staring at him with a blank look on his face. Lin Chuan urged him a few times before the guy remembered to hand out the test papers.

After the test papers were handed out, Lin Chuan had just sat back down when Wang Xu came over.

"Dude, you're not kidding, your English is perfect!" Wang Xu said.

"Is that strange? Chen Xiyu also got a perfect score," Lin Chuan asked.

"No, that's different..." Wang Xu said, scratching his head. He lowered his voice, "You wouldn't have... you know, would you?"

"I got a perfect score, who would I copy from? Chen Xiyu in front of me? Isn't that a bit too far away?" Lin Chuan grinned.

They're in the same group now, but Chen Xiyu is sitting at the first table, while he's in the back row by the window, quite a distance away.

"Uh..." Wang Xu was speechless for a moment.

"I remember your midnight snack," Lin Chuan reminded him.

"I want to check the exam papers!" Wang Xu said seriously.

"Here you go." Lin Chuan tossed his perfect score test paper over.

Wang Xu looked at the English test paper in his hand, which was covered in checkmarks, and he didn't know what to look at.

When I flipped to the back and looked at the essay, it was also very full, and the English handwriting was quite nice. Compared with my test paper, I felt that my English writing was just scribbling.

But I still gritted my teeth and looked at it again, but I couldn't figure it out, so I had to give up and reluctantly accept that my deskmate had really gotten a perfect score on the English test.

It's not that I'm jealous of my deskmate getting a perfect score, the main thing is that he's going to treat me to a late-night snack!

After the second period of evening study, there is a full 30-minute break. Some students will take a walk and chat in the corridor, while others will choose to have a late-night snack.

For example, Lin Chuan glanced at his deskmate next to him and gave him a meaningful look.

"Let's go, let's go," Wang Xu sighed.

The two got up and walked out of the classroom, only to encounter two boys walking into their class at the door.

Wang Xu glanced back at the two guys; they were obviously from another class. "What are you two doing?"

"It must be a recruitment advertisement for the student council." Lin Chuan noticed the student council armbands on their shoulders.

"Oh, oh." Wang Xu immediately lost interest.

Lin Chuan glanced into the classroom for a while before finally looking away.
