Friday, at the No. 1 Middle School campus.

Lin Chuan and Chen Xiyu were walking together on the school path. It was lunchtime, and they were getting ready to go out for lunch together.

"I feel like the food in the school cafeteria has gotten worse." Chen Xiyu started complaining even before they arrived at the cafeteria.

"Is it possible that you ate too much, so the taste didn't seem so good?" Lin Chuan said.

"Really?"

"Right?"

"Is there any way to get the cafeteria to change the menu?"

"You can write these kinds of questions in the suggestion box," Lin Chuan said. "The student council suggestion box can collect all sorts of questions."

"Then write it for me: I want to eat Hunan-style braised pork..."

"Have you ordered your food?" Lin Chuan asked.

Just then, his phone, which was in his pocket, suddenly vibrated. Lin Chuan took it out and glanced at it; it was a text message from the bank.

The message was simple: his bank account received 5626 yuan today, which was his royalties from last month. After deducting 700 yuan for personal income tax, he still received over 5,000 yuan. Normally, the royalties would be paid tomorrow, but it was obviously brought forward by a day due to the holiday.

Looking at the amount, Lin Chuan grinned. It wasn't a lot of money, but it was already pretty good. As for the money he earned from writing hard last month, it was a small return.

"You're laughing so happily, did a girl confess her feelings to you?" Chen Xiyu asked.

"I just received my novel royalties last month," Lin Chuan said.

"Then you have to treat me to a meal, right?"

"sure."

"Wow, you're so generous?" Chen Xiyu looked somewhat surprised.

"I've treated you to enough food," Lin Chuan continued. "But now that I have money, I can take my computer to get it repaired tomorrow, and I won't have to go to the internet cafe to write every day anymore."

Chen Xiyu pursed her lips and continued walking, humming softly, "Someone's treating me today, I'm going upstairs for a set meal."

"You really don't hold back at all," Lin Chuan reminded him from behind.

Chen Xiyu turned around and smiled at him, "Why should I be so polite with you?"

Lin Chuan and Chen Xiyu went up to the second floor together, where they happened to run into Wang Xu, Zhao Jiajia and a few others, and naturally they lined up to eat together.

Friday noon is the last meal at school. Some people choose not to eat, while others choose to have a good meal. Wang Xu and Zhao Jiajia are obviously the latter. After all, Wang Xu often says that you can't mistreat yourself no matter what you do.

The group lined up together and ordered several set meals. After Chen Xiyu finished buying hers, Lin Chuan paid for her meal with his own meal card.

"Old Lin, are you treating us?" Wang Xu said.

"Um."

"What's so special about today? Why don't you invite me too?" Wang Xu said with a smile.

"Get lost," Lin Chuan said calmly.

"You're so cold-hearted," Wang Xu said, his face contorted with tears.

After everyone finished eating, they all went their separate ways. Some went back to their dorms, some went to their classrooms, and Lin Chuan went to the student council because he remembered that Sun Yan had asked him to go to the student council that morning.

Lin Chuan pushed open the door and walked into the office, where he found Cheng Xue, Liu Hao, and Tang Xiaoying were all there.

"Senior, what's up?" Lin Chuan asked as he walked into the office.

"We'll also be conducting unscheduled inspections in the second half of the semester. We've added some new items, so we need to create a new grading form," Sun Yan said. "So, I was wondering if anyone here knows how to do this?"

"Does none of our seniors know how to do this?" Lin Chuan asked. Logically speaking, making a spreadsheet shouldn't be that difficult, right?

"Yes, but I just wanted you guys to try it out and get familiar with it," Sun Yan said. "If you don't know how, I can teach you. You might need to do some simple documents in the future."

"Should the form be in the same format as before?" Lin Chuan then asked.

"Does that mean you can do it, junior?" Sun Yan asked.

"I know a little."

"Why don't you give it a try first?" Sun Yan said, pointing to the computer in the office, which was the only computer in their student union. "The computer is here, and those on the desk are the new forms we plan to make."

Lin Chuan didn't stand on ceremony. He mainly wanted to go back early and rest for a while at noon, so he was too lazy to pretend to be a newcomer.

After sitting down, he opened the document and looked at the handwritten table on the table. His fingers flew across the keyboard at an alarming speed. After a while, he stepped aside, turned to Sun Yan, and asked, "Is this okay?"

Sun Yan went over to take a look and, wow, not only did they create the new form they wanted, but they also optimized the format and layout.

"You've done these things before?" she asked, somewhat surprised.

"I helped my teacher with this when I was in junior high school," Lin Chuan said.

Liu Hao, standing to the side, was completely bewildered. Wasn't this guy a nobody in junior high? How come he did this?

"That was really impressive, even better than mine," Sun Yan patted his shoulder, then turned to the others, "Can the rest of you do it?"

The group looked at each other and shook their heads. It wasn't actually that difficult, but most students wouldn't learn it until they went to university.

"Shall we have Xiao Chuan explain it to you?" Sun Yan said.

Lin Chuan was taken aback. Well, this job came up right away? His plan to go back early had fallen through again.

"Is it okay?" Tang Xiaoying asked.

"I can give a brief explanation, but if you want to learn everything, I probably couldn't finish in one afternoon," Lin Chuan said, opening a new document. "Actually, documents aren't difficult. Most operations can be done by following the basic instructions. I'll start with the simplest part..."

During the lunch break, several people gathered around Lin Chuan. Lin Chuan pointed to the screen and explained some simple knowledge to them, as well as some basic applications such as spreadsheets and documents. He said that, putting aside other things, it would be enough for them to write some simple documents in the future.

After all, the most that student council members do is use computers for tasks like creating documents.

Lin Chuan used his lunch break to teach, and it wasn't until almost time for class that the group went back together. When they passed the cafeteria, Liu Hao and the others each bought him a bottle of water.

As a way of thanking them for telling him all this, Lin Chuan really wanted to say, "Why don't you three treat me to a meal?" But then he thought better of it. Eating with Cheng Xue and Liu Hao just didn't feel right.

…………

On Friday night, after returning home and having dinner, Lin Chuan went to the internet cafe as usual. He figured today was the last day anyway, since he had money now and could get his computer repaired tomorrow.

"Mom and Dad, I'm going out for a bit," Lin Chuan said.

"Okay, go ahead." Mom nodded.

Lin Chuan put on his shoes, walked out of the room, and a dozen minutes later, he was already sitting down in a seat at the internet cafe, beginning his last day of writing at the internet cafe.

Just as he was still immersed in his story, he seemed to sense the gaze of the person next to him, and turned his head to look.

He noticed a boy in a school uniform sitting next to him, watching him. When Lin Chuan turned his head, the boy smiled and said, "Sorry, I was just curious because I saw you writing something. What are you writing?"

"It's some documents the school needs," Lin Chuan said casually.

"Everyone comes to the internet cafe to study. The students from No. 1 High School are really amazing," the boy remarked.

How did you know I'm from the No. 1 High School in the city?

"I saw you come here before, wearing your school uniform."

"oh."

Lin Chuan chatted casually with the boy while typing away. He then learned that the boy was also a high school student, but had dropped out early and didn't know what he was doing now. He might go to work in a factory next month.

When the conversation reached this point, Lin Chuan suddenly wondered if things would have turned out the same way if he hadn't gone to university or been accepted by his graduate advisor.

After finishing typing, Lin Chuan stretched and said, "I'm going back now."

"Okay, bye-bye."

Lin Chuan shut down his computer, turned to look at the boy, and said, "School is indeed quite boring, but you'd better finish your studies first. It's better than not knowing what to do after you graduate."

After saying that, they didn't continue the conversation. It was just a one-time meeting, and there was no point in saying more. He then got up and left the internet cafe.

Lin Chuan returned home, took a quick shower, changed his clothes, and was about to go to bed when his phone, which was on the bedside table, suddenly rang. Lin Chuan picked it up and glanced at it.

"Are you going out to get your computer repaired tomorrow?" Chen Xiyu sent a message.

"Um."

"When?"

"Good morning, is something the matter?" Lin Chuan asked.

"Then remember to call me."

"Are you going too?"

"Never mind that, just call me."

Lin Chuan replied with an OK emoji, put down his phone, closed his eyes, and drowsiness crept in, his consciousness gradually fading.
