Cat Princess and Human Knight

Chapter 9 The Hearts of Parents Are Full of Pity

As springtime gradually warms up, even if the nights are chilly, the sun makes it feel warm and cozy.

All things flourish, the earth awakens in spring, it is the season for sowing.

A wheelbarrow was stuck in the mud beside the farmland. The wooden wheel was stuck in the mud, and neither pulling nor pushing it would work. The sweating cat could only roll up his trousers and try to pull it out with all his might.

Sweat dripped from its head onto its gray whiskers, and a mournful groan escaped its spine. The old grey country cat, missing half an ear, was filled with bitterness.

I'm getting older, and my health isn't as good as it was last year, much worse than when I was younger.

But he couldn't bring himself to admit his weakness, because the little gray cat beside him was clapping frantically.

"Daddy is so amazing! So amazing!"

The little gray cat was wearing a brand-new festive outfit, which the old mother cat had worked hard to save up for a year to buy at the market. It would have to be taken off after the New Year and worn again next spring.

The old gray cat couldn't bear to see the child go down into the mud, and even more so, he couldn't bear to part with the brand-new festive clothes the child was wearing. He could only grit his teeth and force a smile as he spoke.

"Don't move, I'll push the car up right away."

"good!"

The little gray cat's face was full of joy, completely oblivious to its father's embarrassment. Parents truly exhaust all their efforts for their children; the hearts of parents are always full of love and worry.

Just as Old Cat felt exhausted, he suddenly felt a lightness on his shoulders as he carried the cart. He looked up in surprise and saw a huge human. He instinctively rushed out of the mud to protect his cub.

Yi Yin shook his head. He hadn't expected that helping Lao Mao would scare the other party into a panic.

He always forgot his identity; in this cat-dominated alien world, humans were like dragons in a fantasy world.

Lord Ye loved dragons, but he was terrified when a real dragon came to his door. How much more so would an ordinary person be trembling with fear if they encountered a giant dragon from a fantasy world?

Behind Yi Yin was Bell, the orange cat who had just rolled up his sleeves to help, but he didn't expect Yi Yin to be faster than him.

Behind them, Sophia, the short-legged female cat, was covered by a cloak and simply watched everything coldly, her heart unmoved.

Bell stepped forward and said.

"Don't be afraid, old man. We were just passing by and were just helping you out."

Upon seeing the golden flame emblem on the orange cat paladin's holy shield, Old Mao's half-erect ears, which had been sticking up, slowly relaxed.

He released the child and glanced fearfully at the tall Yi-eun.

To the malnourished gray cat, who was only about 20 centimeters tall, Yi Yin, who was 1.83 meters tall, was a god-like figure.

The gray cat swallowed hard and gave a salute to the orange cat.

"May Mother Earth bless you, kind paladin."

Yi Yin was somewhat unhappy.

"Hey, hey, I was the one helping out."

The gray cat was startled and pulled the child along to bow.

"Thank you very much, powerful and benevolent human lord."

Yi Yin nodded in satisfaction.

Old Man Gray Cat quickly tossed Little Gray Cat onto the wheelbarrow. At that moment, he didn't care whether the child's clothes were dirty or not; he just wanted to get the child home safely.

Yi Yin watched Gray Cat's father's retreating figure as he struggled to straighten his back, pushing the wheelbarrow and carrying his child away.

Unlike his father, the little gray cat on the unicycle was not melancholy. He waved his little white paws and excitedly said goodbye to the giant and the orange cat, full of curiosity about everything in the world.

Orange cat Belle stood beside Yi Yin, watching the gray cat father and son walk away, and sighed.

"I didn't expect you to lend a hand."

Yi Yin rolled his eyes.

"Of course, I was born of parents too."

Thinking of his deceased parents, Yi-eun's eyes reddened.

If my parents were still alive and had taken good care of me, I probably wouldn't have become so indulgent and gradually turned into a shut-in who hides at home playing video games and refuses to interact with society.

As Yi Yin was feeling sentimental, the dwarf cat Sophia had already walked past him, completely oblivious to what had just happened.

"Let's go, we need to get to Huru Territory before sunset."

Yi Yin curled his lip and muttered, "A cold cat without blood or tears."

He understood perfectly well that Sophia had lost her empathy because she had sacrificed her conscience.

But the orange cat beside him couldn't understand and sighed softly.

"How did Princess Sofia become so cold and heartless? Did the bloody coup change her? She used to be the kindest princess in the royal family who was most considerate of the people's hardships."

Yi Yin pursed his lips. The taboo of the Legend of the Human King was the secret between Yi Yin and Sophia. He couldn't very well tell Bell that his princess had no feelings anymore, so he simply changed the subject and asked.

"By the way, there's something I don't quite understand."

Sofia keeps saying she'll be stripped of her royal status, so why does she still have land? Isn't land allocated to members of the royal family?

Bell shook his head.

"You don't understand. Your human race lives scattered and alone. You don't have the concept of living in groups like us cats, and you don't understand our social and political system."

After Emperor Mankikon the Great's death, the Mankikon royal family had long since declined. The reason why the cats recognized him as emperor was only because the ancestors of the seven royal families and the feudal nobles had sworn allegiance to Emperor Mankikon the Great.

Although the royal family and nobles nominally submit to the imperial family, they have been secretly weakening the imperial family's territory and influence.

Over the centuries, the royal territory has long been reduced to nothing, leaving only the imperial city where the royal family resides and some so-called royal privileges.

Princess Sophia's territory is a hereditary viscountry inherited from her mother's line of feudal nobles, not royal territory.

The Regent was able to persuade the Seven-Tailed Council to strip Princess Sophia of her royal princess status, but he could not strip her of her viscountry.

Arbitrarily stripping feudal nobles of their titles and territories is a challenge to the bottom line of all feudal royal families and nobles, and it is absolutely impossible to succeed.

Yi Yin chuckled.

A cat actually said that I, a descendant of Yan and Huang, don't understand politics. Fine, fine, it's just the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, it's just the feudal system of the Middle Ages, you can understand it at a glance!

It's really ridiculous that solitary cats have become social intelligent beings, while intelligent humans have become solitary loners scattered across the globe. This world is truly beyond words.

Looking back at the whispering person and cat, Sofia frowned and said.

Are you leaving or not?

Bell picked up the Holy Hammer and said with a grin.

"Coming, coming, don't rush, we'll definitely get to Huru today."

Yi Yin shook his head and muttered something.

"Lick the cat."
