Chapter 167 Slipping Away

Broken bone fragments, crimson flesh and blood, and that familiar appearance.

Those are Penny's feet.

The governor stared blankly, his mind suddenly snapping.

The scene of seeing Penny turn into a zombie seemed to replay in his mind, causing him to become mentally confused and insane.

It felt like all the blood in my body was boiling, surging wildly through my veins, making me tremble all over – that was the adrenaline kicking in.

His temples throbbed, and the governor raised his gun to fire, his frenzied emotions about to erupt.

As if he had expected this, Guillermo interrupted the governor's actions, saying, "If you make any further moves, I will shoot Penny dead."

Penny's name echoed in his ears again, the gun barrels stopped, and the governor made no further move.

After a moment of contemplation, the governor finally spoke: "What do you want? I can give you anything."

The governor was unaware of how hoarse his voice sounded, revealing his weakness and powerlessness.

Guillermo grinned silently, and that was the moment.

This is the moment; he has been waiting for this moment for far too long.

The elderly in the nursing home died in front of him, and his companion died while covering his path, all because of some medicine.

He was powerless at the time.

This moment is just like that moment, you bastard.

Guillermo slowly opened his eyes, a few tears glistening at the corners, mixed with a sense of relief.

Guillermo said, "I've already said it, step forward and stand in front of me, and I'll release your daughter."

"

"I always keep my word."

Guillermo glanced at the team members hiding around the window behind him, and they nodded in understanding, their eyes turning towards the window.

The people downstairs kept firing; they've figured out the approximate locations of those people. If given the chance, they can suppress them immediately.

Meanwhile, the other team members set up their guns towards the door and took out ropes, tying one end to a sturdy spot in the room.

The other team members pulled hard to make sure there was no problem, and then informed Guillermo.

After making sure everyone was ready, Guillermo faced the door and issued his ultimatum.

"Governor, I'll count to three one last time. If you don't step forward, I'll shoot Penny."

"After all, you don't want to see Penny die again because of your own powerlessness, do you?"

'

Guillermo looked at Penny, who was being restrained. Penny stood on the ground, struggling every now and then.

Penny's one foot was normal, but her other foot was directly on the ground with the severed part.

"I'm sorry, little girl," Guillermo said weakly.

At the entrance, the governor slowly walked out, the light gradually fading the shadows on him, revealing his somewhat distorted face.

The governor raised his hands to indicate that he was unarmed.

"I've arrived. Let Penny go."

The governor glanced around the office, took a deep look at Guillermo, and then fixed his gaze on the small figure, his eyes filled with heartache.

"Yes, as you wish." Guillermo nodded, casually removed Penny's hood, and pushed it forward.

The walkers themselves were not very good at standing, and Guillermo easily pushed them to the ground.

The governor, anxious for her well-being, quickly stepped forward to help Penny up.

However, as soon as he touched her, he felt a pain in his right hand. The governor felt a chill in his heart, gritted his teeth and did not groan in pain. Instead, he hugged Penny.

A gunshot rang out, and when the governor smelled the gunpowder, he felt Penny in front of him stop moving, her body splattered with a layer of blood mist.

Looking down, Penny's hands trembled slightly; she was motionless.

Dead—dead?

The glass shattered completely, and with the suppressive fire, several of the men downstairs were killed in a single exchange.

The others quickly hid, not daring to show their faces.

Guillermo grabbed a rope, glanced at the governor who was slumped on the ground holding Penny, and sneered, "Governor, the next time we meet will be the day you die."

Having said all he wanted to say, Guillermo ran two quick steps, leaped, bent his knees, crossed his arms in front of him, and crashed out of the window.

At the same time, a figure appeared in every window of the office.

The rope was fastened to the safety lock around his waist. He grabbed the rope and slid down, landing in less than ten seconds.

Guillermo raised his gun, stepped outside, and took turns firing with his teammates to suppress the enemy.

Under intense fire, his men would always flee their cover in a panic, trying to get as far away as possible.

Guillermo and his men had no reason to let them go, and fired repeatedly, killing them.

After securing themselves on the ground floor, the team members upstairs grabbed the ropes and jumped down, quickly evacuating.

Hearing the commotion inside, some of the men upstairs couldn't resist sticking their upper bodies out.

I was thinking of just peeking out and then pulling back.

But the combatants holding the guns were no pushovers; they opened fire fiercely and killed the man in an instant.

The man lay on the ground, blood gushing from dozens of holes all over his body.

Seeing their companions' expressions, they dared not test the waters any further and huddled together, waiting for the other side to finish crossing.

Within minutes, the entire combat squad withdrew and broke through the Woodbury gate in formation.

Downstairs in the office, various documents were scattered all over the floor, along with broken glass, foul-smelling blood, and corpses.

The governor held Penny as they sat amidst a pile of ruins.

Slowly withdrawing his right hand, the governor could see a tooth mark on his right forearm, with a little blood flowing out, by the moonlight.

The governor gave a bitter smile. "You're still the same as when you were a kid, always gnawing on random things."

"Governor, are you alright?"

At this moment, a hesitant voice rang out; it belonged to the subordinates who had just entered after discovering the other party had left.

The governor suppressed his emotions, his face turning cold and cruel. Anger surged within him, and he hoarsely commanded, "Cut off my hand."

"what?"

The subordinate suspected there was something wrong with his ears.

The governor repeated himself, his icy gaze falling on one of his men: "I said, cut off my hand."

O

The henchman still cowardly pulled out his machete, but never dared to swing it.

Milton had told the governor that if bitten by a zombie, the wound should be on the arm or leg, and the affected area should be amputated, with a larger area removed.

The faster the time, the higher the probability of survival.

The governor snatched the cleaver, looked at the arm with the artery bound by a belt, and took a few deep breaths.

With his eyes blinking, filled with rage over Penny's death, the governor slashed down with his sword.

A flash of cold light, and blood splattered.

Woodbury, on the outskirts.

Caesar kept a close eye on what was happening inside Woodbury and noticed the anomaly immediately.

"The person has arrived."

"Let the sniper fire, we'll provide backup."

After giving the order, Caesar put on his helmet, concealing his face, and followed by T-boy, Morales, Glenn, and others, sneaking towards the main entrance of Woodbury.
