Haishi Railway Station?

Nan Yan's eyes lit up.

He quickened his pace and limped toward the train station.

Although it was already dark, the train station was still bustling with people and extremely noisy.

Nan Yan had never seen so many people before. He subconsciously shrank back and walked to the ticket window to queue up.

The staff member at the window asked, "Hello, where are you going? Please show your ID card."

ID card?

Nan Yan was stunned; he had never had an ID card before.

He opened his mouth, wanting to say that he didn't, but the words wouldn't come out because of nervousness.

Seeing his hesitation, the staff member's eyes showed suspicion: "You don't have an ID card?"

Nan Yan nodded, her voice soft: "No...no."

The staff member said impatiently, "What kind of ticket can you buy without an ID card? Move aside, next one!"

The passengers behind her roughly pushed past Nan Yan, grumbling and swearing as they crowded around the window.

Nan Yan staggered to the side, staring blankly at the continuing flow of people.

"Hey, you." A hoarse voice sounded from the side.

Nan Yan turned her head and saw a man wearing a wrinkled uniform and a hat tilted to one side, squinting at her.

The man was about forty years old, with a thin face, droopy eyelids, and a half-smoked cigarette dangling from his lips. His gaze, like a sticky tongue, licked over Nan Yan's face and body.

"I'm talking to you. Stand aside and don't block the way." The security guard pointed lightly with his baton at a quiet corridor nearby. "Come with me. I have a few questions for you."

Nan Yan hesitated for two seconds, but still slowly followed.

The corridor grew darker and darker until it reached a green iron door with peeling paint.

The security guard took out his key and opened the door, and a hot, stuffy smell mixed with the smells of smoke, sweat and mildew hit him.

The room was small, with no windows, only a bare incandescent light bulb hanging from the ceiling, emitting a buzzing electrical sound, and the light was so bright it made one's eyes sting.

Several cardboard boxes with illegible contents were piled up in the corner.

"Come in and close the door." The security guard went in first and leaned against the only old wooden table.

Nan Yan awkwardly moved inside and closed the door behind her.

The "click" of the iron gate closing was particularly clear in the cramped space.

"What's your name? Where are you from?" the security guard asked lazily, toying with the black rubber baton in his hand.

"Nan...Nan Yan." His voice trembled.

"Where's your ID card?"

"No...no."

"No?" The security guard raised his eyelids, a glint of shrewdness flashing in his cloudy eyes. "You've been acting suspiciously, and your clothes don't fit... Could you be a fugitive?"

"No! I'm not!" Nan Yan shook her head violently in fright, her back covered in cold sweat, almost pressing herself against the cold wall.

"Whether it is or not, we'll find out by checking." The security guard grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth. He stood up, tapping his baton lightly in his hand, and approached step by step.

Nan Yan could smell the strong smell of tobacco and cheap liquor mixed on him.

The cold rubber tip of the baton suddenly pressed against Nan Yan's chin, forcing him to look up.

Nan Yan shuddered, and tiny bumps appeared on her skin.

"She's quite fair-skinned." The security guard's gaze slithered like a snake across Nan Yan's neck, finally settling on the wide neckline of her loungewear.

He slowly lowered the baton, prying open the top button, then the second one.

The rough fabric parted to the sides, revealing the boy's thin collarbone and a slender chest.

When the light shone directly down, that patch of skin appeared almost transparently white.

Nan Yan trembled violently and tried to cover her clothes with her hands, but the security guard easily grabbed her wrist with his other hand and pressed it against the wall.

The man's grip was very strong, and his knuckles dug into his skin, causing him pain.

"What are you hiding for? Routine check." The security guard's voice was lewd.

The tip of the baton left his clothes and gently landed on Nan Yan's chest, the cold touch making him flinch.

Nan Yan bit her lower lip, her breathing becoming rapid and unsteady.

……

Both fearful and...

Just then, the door was pushed open.

Three men filed in.

One was short and stout, wearing a loose-fitting security guard uniform; another was tall and thin, wearing a blue vest for security inspectors; and the third was slightly older, also wearing a similar station staff jacket.

The room suddenly felt even more crowded and cramped.

The short, stout security guard spotted Nan Yan pinned against the wall at a glance, and his small eyes immediately lit up.

"Hey, Brother Li, caught a little mouse?" He rubbed his hands together and grinned.

The security guard, called Brother Li, snorted: "No ID, ill-fitting clothes, and money of dubious origin in his pockets—very suspicious."

The tall, thin security guard walked up and reached out to tug at Nan Yan's collar: "Where did you get these clothes? Did you steal them?"

His fingers traced, intentionally or unintentionally, across Nan Yan's bare shoulder.

"No...it wasn't stolen..." Nan Yan's voice was choked with sobs as she futilely tried to break free from the grip on her wrists.

"Not stolen? Then where's the money? Was it given to you by someone else?" The short, stout security guard leaned closer, almost touching Nan Yan, his greedy eyes roaming over his face and open collar.

"Who's so generous? How much did they give you?" he said, reaching his stubby fingers into Nan Yan's pants pocket.

Nan Yan suddenly twisted her body to dodge, but ended up moving even closer to the tall, thin security checkpoint on the other side.

The security guard grabbed his waist and held him firmly in the side.

Nan Yan struggled violently as if she had been scalded, but this only resulted in her being restrained even more tightly.

"You dare move!" The short, stout security guard seized the opportunity to reach into his pocket, pulled out the crumpled roll of banknotes, weighed it in his hand, and chuckled, "Not bad! Still saying it's not stolen money?"

"Give it back to me..." Nan Yan's eyes were red with anxiety; it was all he had.

"Give it back to you? We'll talk about it after we find out." The short, stout security guard stuffed the money into his pocket, but his eyes remained glued to Nan Yan.

He saw Nan Yan's bare chest heaving violently from struggling and fear.

"This kid... his skin is so tender you could squeeze water out of it." The short, chubby security guard licked his lips and reached out to press it.

"Ah!" Nan Yan cried out in pain.

Seeing this, the tall, thin security guard reached up with his other hand, gripping Nan Yan's chin and forcing him to turn his face. "He's really good-looking, with skin even smoother and more delicate than a woman's."

He leaned close, his breath hitting Nan Yan's face: "You wouldn't be using this face to scam money, would you?"

The older staff member then came over, carrying a rectangular metal detector, the kind commonly used for station security checks.

His face was expressionless, but his eyes, like everyone else's, were cloudy.

"Whether he is a thief or not, and whether he is hiding anything else, can be determined by a thorough sweep."

He raised the metal detector, its cold metal surface pressed directly against Nan Yan's chest, which was covered only by thin loungewear.

"Ugh..." Nan Yan froze.

The metallic chill seeped through the fabric, instantly penetrating the skin...
