Chapter 20 The Vibrant Florist Owner
"You're smart enough to know what's good for you." Liu Yunshu snorted, then took another bite of the shrimp dumpling he offered. The sweetness of the shrimp meat mixed with the sour aroma of vinegar spread on her tongue. She squinted her eyes in satisfaction, like a cat that had been fed.
Lu Yan looked at her chubby cheeks, his eyes filled with an irrepressible smile.
The afternoon sun shines through the glass dome, casting dappled shadows on the floor.
Liu Yunshu leaned back on the sofa, intently watching the figure busy in the kitchen.
Lu Yan was preparing afternoon tea, and the bone china teaware clinked crisply in his hands.
He wore a light gray apron with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his smooth forearms. Sunlight fell on his focused profile, even tinging his slightly drooping eyelashes with a warm glow.
Liu Yunshu rested her chin on her hand, watching him arrange the freshly baked scones on a white porcelain plate.
"What are you looking at?" Lu Yan turned around and met her gaze. A smile appeared in his eyes as he handed her a cup of milk tea. "It's freshly made and has milk foam on it."
Liu Yunshu took the cup, her fingertips touching the warm cup wall, the sweet aroma of the milk foam wafting into her nostrils first.
She scooped up a spoonful and put it in her mouth. The rich sweetness mixed with the slight astringency of the black tea melted on her tongue, and her eyes lit up: "It tastes even better than what you buy outside."
Lu Yan sat down beside her and poured himself a cup of tea. "Your Majesty, please eat more if you like."
The scones were still warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Spread with homemade strawberry jam, the sweet and sour flavor spread. Liu Yunshu ate with satisfaction, not even noticing the jam on the corner of her mouth.
Looking at her chubby cheeks, like a little squirrel stealing food, Lu Yan couldn't resist leaning over and licking the sauce off the corner of her mouth.
She glared at him reproachfully, but her voice was as soft as cotton candy: "What are you doing, ambushing me?"
Lu Yan chuckled softly, his fingertips lightly brushing against the corner of her lips, his eyes brimming with undisguised joy: "Seeing our lady enjoying her food so much, I couldn't resist trying some."
She smacked her lips as she spoke, "Mmm, this tastes even sweeter than strawberry jam."
Liu Yunshu's cheeks flushed from his teasing. She reached out and pushed him, but with little force. Instead, she rubbed against him like a kitten being affectionate. "You're just good with your words," he scolded, but the smile in his eyes was undeniable, like honey-soaked sugar, so sweet it was almost overflowing.
Lu Yan caught her mischievous hand, gently kissed it, and caressed her delicate hand with his fingertips: "Want to try something that's not just talk?"
"Oh? So what if it's not just empty talk?"
Liu Yunshu raised an eyebrow at him, a mischievous smile in her eyes.
Lu Yan didn't speak, but leaned closer, his warm breath brushing against her lips first, carrying the sweetness of black tea and strawberry jam, and gently kissing her lips.
This kiss was devoid of passion, only pure tenderness, like the afternoon sunlight streaming through the window, warmly caressing the lips and teeth.
His kiss was light; his tongue lingered on the sweet aftertaste of her lips before gently withdrawing. His forehead rested against hers, and the smile in his eyes resembled shattered starlight.
"Like this," he said softly, his voice slightly hoarse and gentle.
Liu Yunshu's heart skipped a beat, her cheeks slowly flushed red, and even her breath carried a hint of sweetness.
She looked into his eyes, which were so close to hers, and saw her reflection clearly in them. Her eyes held a mixture of panic and undisguised joy.
She looked every bit the happy, content woman.
"Hmm..." she responded softly.
He chuckled softly, the vibrations of his chest transmitting through our foreheads, which were pressed together, carrying a reassuring warmth.
Liu Yunshu turned her head away, feeling unusually embarrassed, only to see several people leaning against the glass wall.
Huh? How many people?!
Several young men and women were piled on top of each other on the glass wall, with silly smiles on their faces.
Looking at the large bags and bundles behind them, Liu Yunshu had a guess in her mind. She nudged Lu Yan, "Yan, were those the ones you called?"
Lu Yan followed her gaze, raised an eyebrow slightly, and then chuckled softly, "Yes, it's for a dress."
As soon as he finished speaking, the people outside the glass wall seemed to have been switched on, and immediately stood up straight in a flurry, waving into the room, their smiles impossible to hide.
One of the girls carrying a suitcase was secretly holding up her phone, probably wanting to capture this unexpected sweet moment.
Liu Yunshu raised an eyebrow and called out, "Come in, the door's unlocked."
Several young people then awkwardly pushed open the door and came in, standing at the doorway with large and small suitcases in their arms. Their eyes couldn't help but linger on the two of them, especially when they saw the conspicuous red mark on Lu Yan's neck, they all suppressed their laughter and lowered their heads.
"Mr. Lu, Ms. Liu, this is the dress prepared according to your request, along with matching jewelry and shoes." The leading woman placed the suitcase next to the sofa and reported quickly, her cheeks flushed with excitement.
Lu Yan nodded: "Open it and take a look."
The trunks were opened one by one, and all sorts of formal dresses instantly covered the sofa.
There were shimmering fishtail dresses, simple and elegant satin gowns, and several uniquely designed strapless dresses, each one as exquisite as a work of art.
Liu Yunshu's eyes lit up, and she reached out to pick up a champagne-colored off-the-shoulder dress. The skirt was adorned with tiny rhinestones that sparkled in the sunlight. "This one looks good. I'll try it on."
"Go ahead." Lu Yan looked at the light in her eyes, and a smile appeared in his own. He gently brushed his fingertips across the rhinestones on her dress. "I'll wait for you here."
Liu Yunshu ran into the bedroom with the dress in her arms, and the door clicked shut, leaving the room quiet.
The staff outside exchanged glances, all seeing the excitement of gossip in each other's eyes, but because Lu Yan was present, they could only hold back and dare not utter a sound.
Lu Yan picked up his teacup, took a sip, and stared at the bedroom door, his fingertips unconsciously tracing the inside of the cup.
A moment later, Liu Yunshu came out and twirled in front of Lu Yan in her formal dress.
The champagne-colored satin made her skin look even whiter than snow, and the off-shoulder design perfectly avoided the red marks on her collarbone, while making the curves of her shoulders and neck even more beautiful.
The skirt had a beautiful drape, swaying gently as she turned, the rhinestones refracting tiny sparkles like crushed stars scattered on the skirt.
Lu Yan leaned closer to take a look, his fingertips tracing her exposed shoulder, his gaze falling on the ambiguous red mark, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes: "You're showing too much skin, change into something else."
Liu Yunshu raised an eyebrow: "Who just said it's better to show it?"
"That's different," Lu Yan said, picking up a dark green velvet dress with an elegant V-neck that reached just to her collarbone.
"This suits you well; it's both elegant and covers up what you shouldn't show."
Liu Yunshu took the dark green velvet dress, her fingertips tracing the delicate fabric, which felt soft and had a slight sheen.
She raised an eyebrow, turned around and went back to her bedroom to change her clothes, not forgetting to glare at Lu Yan as she did so: "You're just saying that."
When the bedroom door opened again, Lu Yan's gaze paused.
The dark green velvet made her skin appear even whiter and brighter, and the V-neckline was just right, outlining her delicate collarbone while cleverly concealing the ambiguous red marks.
The waist is cinched very tightly, and the skirt falls naturally along the waistline. As you walk, the skirt sways gently, like dark silk flowing in the night, elegant yet with a touch of mysterious allure.
"How was it?" Liu Yunshu twirled halfway in front of him, her skirt swaying slightly, her eyes filled with anticipation.
Lu Yan stood up, his fingertips gently tracing the folds at her waist, his voice lowered slightly: "Beautiful."
He leaned closer, his warm breath brushing against her ear, "Miss Liu, this suits me better than the previous one."
Liu Yunshu's heart skipped a beat when he called her "my Miss Liu," and she pushed him away, saying, "You're so good with words."
She complained, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up.
Upon seeing this, the staff quickly handed over matching jewelry: a delicate platinum necklace with a small emerald pendant that perfectly complemented the color of the dress.
There was also a pair of dark green high heels, with a rhinestone set in the heel, understated yet exquisite.
"Miss Liu will definitely look even more beautiful wearing this," the girl in the lead said with a smile, her eyes full of admiration.
Lu Yan took the necklace and gestured for Liu Yunshu to turn around.
His fingertips, slightly warm, gently brushed across the skin of the back of her neck, fastening the necklace.
The emerald pendant sits perfectly in the center of the V-neck, embellishing the simple neckline just right—not too much, not too little.
"Alright." He lowered his head and gently kissed the back of her neck, his voice tinged with laughter. "Perfect."
Liu Yunshu touched the pendant around her neck, turned to look in the mirror, and nodded appreciatively.
"You have good taste." She gestured with her chin towards Lu Yan's reflection in the mirror.
Lu Yan embraced her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. Their intertwined figures were reflected in the mirror.
He looked at her smiling eyes in the mirror, and gently pinched her waist with his fingertips: "So, is my date ready for tonight?"
"Ready?" Liu Yunshu turned around, tiptoed and pecked him on the lips like a child who had stolen candy. "But you'll need to change into a suit that matches me."
"Yes, Miss Liu." Lu Yan chuckled, picked up the dark gray suit that the staff had prepared, and turned to go to another room.
When he came out after changing his clothes, Liu Yunshu's eyes lit up.
The well-tailored dark gray suit accentuated his broad shoulders and narrow waist, making his posture even more upright.
The shirt collar was tied with a dark green tie, which perfectly matched her skirt, showing meticulous attention to detail.
The man in the suit exuded a restrained allure; his long, straight legs were encased in the suit trousers, and the watch peeking out from the cuffs gleamed discreetly under the light.
Liu Yunshu felt her legs were about to give way again.
"How about it? Are you worthy of my Miss Liu?"
Liu Yunshu deliberately looked him up and down, and said slowly, "Barely passing."
Even so, the amazement in her eyes was undeniable, like shattered starlight, dazzlingly bright.
