Chapter 25 The Vibrant Florist Owner
When Liu Yunshu and Lu Yan woke up, their phones were ringing off the hook.
The two exchanged a puzzled look, and Lu Yan picked up his phone first.
The screen was filled with a dense array of missed calls and messages, almost overflowing the interface. There were calls from company executives, relatives and friends, and even a few unfamiliar media numbers.
He frowned, swiped the screen, and immediately saw the trending topic push—the hashtag #LuYanLiuYunShuProposes# was followed by a bright red "Explosive" character.
"The proposal video got uploaded online." Lu Yan's tone was a little helpless, but he couldn't hide his smile.
He handed his phone to Liu Yunshu and said, "It seems that our story is known all over the internet now."
Liu Yunshu took the phone, swiping her fingers across the screen, enjoying the comments filled with blessings and envy.
Especially when someone saw a screenshot of her teasing Lu Yan, with the caption "This girl is so good at this, I give her full marks for this counter-flirting."
She couldn't help but laugh out loud, looking up and meeting Lu Yan's smiling eyes. "These people are actually quite adorable."
Lu Yan reached out and pulled her into his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head, inhaling the faint fragrance of her hair, his voice full of doting: "No matter how cute I am, I'm not as cute as you."
Just then, Lu Yan's phone rang. He picked it up and saw that it was his mother calling.
Lu Yan swiped across the screen to answer the phone, but before he could even speak, his mother's voice, a mixture of joy and reproach, came through the receiver: "You brat! You finally answered the phone! Don't you even know what time it is! Stop bothering Yun Shu!"
"Mom, we just woke up." Lu Yan smiled helplessly, while Liu Yunshu secretly covered her mouth and chuckled.
Just as she was laughing, Liu Yunshu's phone rang; it was her mother calling.
Liu Yunshu answered the phone, and before she could say anything, she heard her mother's cheerful voice coming from the other end: "Yunshu, we've all seen the video online. Lu Yan is a good kid. When are you going to come and meet him?"
"Ahem! Mom, how do you know his name is Lu Yan? If you want to meet, you should set a time." Liu Yunshu coughed lightly and asked in confusion.
"It's all over the internet! You're dating someone and you didn't even tell your mom. I just asked Yunfan, and your brother has told us everything about her."
Mother Liu's voice was filled with laughter. After a pause, she added, "If we're going to meet, let's come to Beijing next Saturday and visit Yunfan while we're at it."
"Okay, I'll have Lu Yan arrange accommodations." Liu Yunshu agreed with a smile, hung up the phone, and turned to meet Lu Yan's nervous gaze.
"What did Auntie say? Does it seem too sudden?" His fingers unconsciously tightened, and even his voice carried a hint of caution.
Liu Yunshu was amused by his expression and reached out to pinch his cheek: "What are you nervous about? My mom said you're nice and wants to come and meet you."
Lu Yan visibly breathed a sigh of relief and said into the phone, "Mom, Yun Shu's mother said she wants to come to Beijing next Saturday to meet me."
Lu's mother immediately chimed in, "That's perfect! Your father and I were just planning to visit our in-laws too, we've set it for next Saturday, we'd better make the arrangements carefully!"
After hanging up the phone, Lu Yan looked at Liu Yunshu, his eyes still showing some lingering nervousness: "It's Auntie's first time coming, I need to prepare well and make sure nothing goes wrong."
Liu Yunshu smiled and ruffled his hair: "Don't be too nervous, my parents are very easy to get along with."
"That won't do either." Lu Yan held her hand, his fingertips caressing the diamond ring on her ring finger, his tone solemn.
"This is the first time I've officially met your family, so I need to reassure them that you're in my care."
In the following days, Lu Yan indeed began intensive preparations.
From booking restaurant menus to arranging accommodations, even finding out the tea that Mr. Liu liked and the flowers that Mrs. Liu preferred, he personally went to select them.

On Saturday, the weather in Beijing was exceptionally sunny. Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the plane tree leaves and dappled the asphalt road with tiny golden spots.
Lu Yan specially canceled all his work and took Liu Yunshu to the airport early in the morning to pick her up.
In the parking lot, he repeatedly adjusted his shirt collar and then tidied his hair in front of the rearview mirror.
"Relax," Liu Yunshu chuckled at his expression, reaching out to smooth the wrinkles between his brows. "My parents aren't going to eat you."
Lu Yan held her hand, his fingertips trembling slightly: "But they are the ones who are going to hand over their precious daughter to me, so we must show them the utmost sincerity."
No sooner had he finished speaking than Mr. and Mrs. Liu emerged from the exit, pushing their suitcases.
He immediately went to greet them, a perfectly timed smile on his face, his voice respectful and clear: "Hello, uncles and aunts, I am Lu Yan."
Mr. Liu looked him over. The young man in front of him was tall and straight, with handsome features and sincere eyes. He did indeed look reliable, just like in the video.
Liu's mother held Liu Yunshu's hand, her gaze sweeping over their clasped hands, especially the sparkling diamond ring, and her eyes crinkled with laughter.
"Good boy." Mother Liu patted his arm, her tone affectionate.
Lu Yan quickly took the suitcase from Liu's father, his movements natural and considerate: "Uncle and Aunt, you must be tired from your journey. The car is outside, why don't you go to the hotel to rest for a while?"
"It's no trouble at all," Liu's father waved his hand, his gaze falling on him with the scrutiny typical of an elder, yet also gentle. "I heard from Yun Shu that you've arranged all the accommodations? You've gone to so much trouble."
"Of course." Lu Yan stepped aside and led them toward the parking lot.
"Knowing that my aunt and uncle prefer a quiet place, I specially prepared a small courtyard house, which is not far from the city and has a comfortable environment."
On the way, Liu's mother pulled Liu Yunshu to sit in the back seat and quietly asked about the details of the proposal.
Liu Yunshu's cheeks flushed from the question, and out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that Lu Yan's hands were tense as he gripped the steering wheel in the front seat, and she couldn't help but chuckle to herself.
Upon arriving at the courtyard, one finds several rose bushes growing in the small courtyard with its blue bricks and gray tiles, their vines climbing all over the flower trellis, and stone tables and benches placed in the corners, creating a truly tranquil and elegant atmosphere.
As soon as Liu's mother entered, she liked it and pulled Liu's father to look around: "This place is really nice, more comfortable than a hotel."
Lu Yan smiled and helped them carry their luggage into the room, then brought over freshly brewed tea: "Uncle, this is your favorite Longjing tea. I asked someone to bring it from Hangzhou. Please try it and see if it suits your taste."
Mr. Liu picked up his teacup, took a sip, and raised an eyebrow slightly: "Hmm, rich and mellow, it's good tea. Thank you for your thoughtfulness."
Lu Yan then quietly breathed a sigh of relief and sat down to talk to them.
They talked about everything from work to life, speaking clearly and logically, with a humble and polite attitude. Occasionally, when Liu's mother teased him with a few interesting stories about his relationship with Liu Yunshu, he would just blush and answer honestly, which made Liu's parents more and more satisfied.
The restaurant they booked for lunch was the hometown cuisine restaurant that Liu Yunshu had mentioned, and Lu Yan specially asked the chef to adjust the dishes to suit the tastes of his hometown.
Liu's mother picked up a piece of sweet and sour pork ribs with her chopsticks, took a bite, and smiled: "This tastes exactly like the one we make at home!"
A hint of a smile flashed in Lu Yan's eyes: "I asked Aunt Yun Shu about your method and had the kitchen try it a few times."
"You're such a thoughtful child." Mother Liu smiled and put a piece of pork rib on Lu Yan's plate. "We're relieved that Yun Shu will be with you from now on."
Liu Yunshu listened from the side, watching Lu Yan blush with pride despite the compliments, and felt a sweet warmth in her heart.
In the afternoon, Liu Yunfan also rushed over. As soon as he entered the door, he shouted, "Dad, Mom, you're finally here! I've been 'monitored' by Brother Lu these past few days. He asks me every day what you like, as if he wants to dig out everything I'm thinking."
Father Liu glared at him and said, "You have no manners." But his eyes were full of laughter as he spoke.
The group sat in the courtyard basking in the sun, and Liu Yunfan vividly recounted the embarrassing incident that happened on the day Lu Yan proposed.
He said he was so nervous the night before that he paced back and forth by the flower field for half the night, and repeatedly told them not to say anything out of line, which made Mr. and Mrs. Liu laugh heartily.
Lu Yan felt a little embarrassed by what was said, so he quietly took Liu Yunshu's hand and gently stroked the back of her hand with his fingertips. Liu Yunshu took his hand back, and the two smiled at each other, their affection for each other impossible to hide.
At dinner time, Mr. and Mrs. Lu also arrived, and the two families sat at the same table, creating a lively and harmonious atmosphere.
Lu's mother held Liu's mother's hand, as affectionately as sisters who hadn't seen each other for many years. They chatted about everything from the children's childhood anecdotes to their wedding plans, and the more they talked, the more they clicked.
Mr. Lu and Mr. Liu huddled together drinking tea and chatting about business. They occasionally commented on their two children, their words full of approval for the marriage.
"I think we should hold the children's wedding in the fall," Lu's mother suggested with a smile. "The weather will be perfect then, and the autumn scenery in Beijing will be beautiful, making it the ideal time for the wedding."
Mother Liu nodded repeatedly: "I also think autumn is good. Let's have someone calculate the auspicious date and pick one."
As Liu Yunshu listened to the elders' lively discussion about the wedding details, she looked up at Lu Yan beside her.
He was gazing at her, his eyes filled with tenderness, and whispered in her ear, "On our wedding day, I'll plant an even bigger sea of flowers for you."
Liu Yunshu smiled and squeezed his fingers: "No need, having you is enough."
As night deepened, the two families said their goodbyes. Liu's father patted Lu Yan on the shoulder and said, "Yun Shu has been spoiled by us since she was little. She has a bit of a temper. I'll have to ask you to be more tolerant of her in the future."
Lu Yan nodded solemnly, her voice clear and firm: "Uncle, don't worry, I will treat her well for the rest of my life."
On the way back, Liu Yunshu leaned against the car window, watching the lights flash by outside, a smile playing on her lips.
Lu Yan held her hand, his fingertips gently caressing the diamond ring on her ring finger, and suddenly said, "Yun Shu, thank you."
"What are you thanking me for?"
"Thank you for agreeing to marry me," he turned his head, the starlight in his eyes brighter than the lights outside the window, "Thank you for letting me know that being cherished by someone is such a blissful thing."
Liu Yunshu felt a warmth in her heart and leaned over to kiss him on the cheek: "Silly boy, me too."
