The next morning.

Liu Yunfan was waiting at the flower shop entrance early in the morning.

Seeing Liu Yunfan pacing back and forth in front of the flower shop, clutching her phone and looking anxious, Zhou Mingyu walked over and asked, "Yunfan? Coming to see your sister so early?"

Liu Yunfan looked up, his eyes showing obvious dark circles: "Brother Zhou, I've come to see my sister."

Seeing his appearance and glancing at the closed flower shop door, Zhou Mingyu felt a secret unease welling up inside him.

"Yunfan, what brings you to see your sister so early?"

Liu Yunfan scratched his head, wanting to talk about what happened at the bar last night, but he didn't want to tell anyone else.

"It's nothing much, just something about school that I wanted to discuss with my sister."

Zhou Mingyu looked at his clenched knuckles, which were white, and didn't believe his story, but he didn't expose him. He just patted him on the shoulder.

"Don't worry, your sister might not be up yet. She usually doesn't open her shop until around nine o'clock."

He pointed to the bench next to him and said, "Why don't we sit down for a while? I'll go across the street and buy two cups of soy milk, so she can drink them when she gets here."

Liu Yunfan nodded, sat down on the bench in silence, and stared intently at his phone.

Just then, Liu Yunshu, wearing that dark green cheongsam, walked over gracefully.

As soon as Liu Yunshu reached the alley entrance, she saw her younger brother sitting on a bench in front of the flower shop, glancing at his phone every now and then.

Zhou Mingyu stood to the side, holding the soy milk he had just bought.

The morning light fell on her, and the buttons on the collar of her cheongsam gleamed with a warm glow.

A conservative cheongsam that reaches her ankles is accentuated by the woman's curvaceous figure, making her look incredibly charming.

Having just experienced a romantic affair, she possessed an alluring charm, like a bewitching flower fairy who had just drunk the morning dew.

"Sis! Are you alright? He..." Liu Yunfan rushed up to her anxiously as soon as he saw her, his eyes scanning her up and down: "That man..."

He stopped abruptly as he finished speaking.

She glanced at Zhou Mingyu beside her, then pulled Liu Yunshu toward the back door of the flower shop, lowering her voice to ask him questions.

"Sis! Where did you go with Lu Yan last night? You didn't come home all night, and you didn't reply to my messages. I was so worried!"

He was pulling her arm, her steps still carrying a hint of morning languor. She reached out and ruffled her brother's hair, a smile in her eyes: "What's the panic? What could possibly be wrong with me?"

"How can you say nothing's wrong!" Liu Yunfan stamped her feet anxiously. "You and I were alone together, and... I'm afraid you'll get hurt! Nothing happened between you last night, right?"

As he spoke, his gaze unconsciously drifted towards Liu Yunshu's neck—thankfully, he didn't see any strange marks.

Seeing her younger brother's nervous expression, Liu Yunshu couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Don't worry, nothing happened. It's just that the drug was a bit too strong last night, so he took me to his apartment to rest. We slept in separate rooms."

She deliberately concealed the second half to avoid the boy worrying unnecessarily.

Liu Yunfan asked skeptically, "Really? You're not lying to me?"

"Why would I lie to you?" Liu Yunshu reached out and pinched his cheek. "I'm not a child. Why would I let myself be wronged? By the way, what happened to the man who drugged me last night?"

Mentioning this, Liu Yunfan's face darkened: "Shen Yi said he's already called the police, and the evidence is conclusive. That guy's definitely going to be in jail!"

He paused, then asked in a low voice, "Sis, what's going on between you and that Lu Yan...? Do you really like him?"

Liu Yunshu leaned against the door frame of the back door, the morning light falling on the hem of her cheongsam, giving it a soft glow.

"Don't worry about such things, they're just kids."

Zhou Mingyu's gaze was fixed on Liu Yunshu the moment she appeared.

The observant man naturally noticed the faint red mark behind her ear, and his eyes darkened slightly.

Given Liu Yunfan's reaction and evasive words, he understood perfectly well what had happened to Liu Yunshu last night.

Zhou Mingyu withdrew his gaze, gently placed the soy milk in his hand on the bench, clenched his fist, and then relaxed it.

He and Liu Yunshu were merely neighbors and customers; no matter how much he cared, he could only keep it to himself.

At this moment, Liu Yunshu led Liu Yunfan out of the back door. Seeing him, she greeted him with a smile: "Boss Zhou, good morning. Could you please buy soy milk for Yunfan?"

"It's nothing." Zhou Mingyu gave a gentle smile and handed over the soy milk.

His gaze inadvertently swept behind her ear, where the red mark stood out starkly against her fair skin.

"Judging from your complexion, you didn't sleep well last night?"

Liu Yunshu took the soy milk, paused for a moment, and then smiled naturally, "It's okay, I just chatted with my friends a little longer."

Without saying much, she turned and handed the soy milk to Liu Yunfan, saying, "Drink it quickly, it won't taste good when it gets cold."

Liu Yunshu walked into the flower shop. The newly arrived flowers stretched their branches and leaves in the morning light, spreading a rich fragrance.

She casually browsed the petals, her fingertips brushing against the dewy petals. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught Zhou Mingyu standing silently beside her, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back.

Looking at Zhou Mingyu's gentle and refined face, Liu Yunshu thought with regret, "What a pity..."

"Is Boss Zhou not going to the coffee shop today?"

Zhou Mingyu looked at her, his eyes slightly raised, and a warm smile spread across his face: "The shop hired a temporary worker to cover for you. I wanted to see the new flowers you received and find some inspiration for styling."

After saying that, he lightly touched the rose petals with his fingertips, and as if by accident, his knuckles brushed against the back of her hand. "Yun Shu has a unique eye. The bouquets she arranges always catch the eye."

She hasn't explicitly said she has a boyfriend yet, so I guess I still have a chance.

Liu Yunshu raised an eyebrow, noticing the intimacy hidden in his words, but did not point it out.

"Boss Zhou flatters me. I just tend to some flowers and plants. How can they compare to your coffee-making skills, which can make people feel sweet from the tip of their tongue to their heart?"

These words were half true and half false, and the last syllable still carried the lingering languor of early morning, making Zhou Mingyu's ears feel slightly hot.

He lowered his eyes to hide the turmoil in them, and when he looked up again, he had that gentle and kind expression once more.

"If Yun Shu has time, come to my shop this afternoon. I just roasted some beans and I'll make you a special blend."

"Sure, I'll come if I have time," Liu Yunshu accepted the invitation.

After finishing his soy milk, Liu Yunfan was exhausted. "Sis, that's all. I'm going back to school now."

Liu Yunshu waved to him.

In the afternoon, sunlight streamed through the coffee shop's floor-to-ceiling windows, casting diamond-shaped dappled patterns on the wooden floor.

Wearing a dark gray apron, Zhou Mingyu poured the ground coffee beans into the machine, where they collided with the metal, making a soft crackling sound.

He looked up at Liu Yunshu, who had just entered through the door. Her dark green cheongsam shimmered softly in the light, making her eyes appear even more affectionate.

"Boss Zhou's apron has a touch of homey charm." Liu Yunshu smiled as she sat down, tapping her fingertips lightly on the table, her gaze sweeping over the coffee bean tins on display.

Zhou Mingyu chuckled and tightened the apron straps, showing off his lean waist.

"If Yun Shu likes it, I'll give you one. Come often, and I'll teach you how to roast beans."

As they spoke, a special coffee was served, with a miniature blue rose tucked into the rim of the cup, echoing the intertwined floral pattern on her cheongsam.

The coffee has a strong bitter taste at first, but a sweet aftertaste follows.

"Boss Zhou's cooking tastes pretty good." Liu Yunshu took a sip, and when she looked up, her eyes sparkled as they met Zhou Mingyu's focused gaze.

Zhou Mingyu looked at her, his Adam's apple bobbing almost imperceptibly, and his voice lowered a few decibels: "I'm glad Yun Shu likes it. This special blend is made to suit your temperament."

"Boss Zhou certainly knows how to talk." Liu Yunshu raised an eyebrow, twirling the rim of her cup with her fingertips.

"Are you trying to get me to come here more often for coffee?"

It's a pity, since you're not my fan.

Zhou Mingyu's lips curled up, but he quickly suppressed it and said softly, "If it can get Yun Shu to come more often, then it's worth it for me to say more."

Look at those words, they're so eloquent. A subtle itch rose in Liu Yunshu's heart.

Why can't there be two mission objectives at once?

Lu's Group.

Lu Yan had just finished a meeting and was sitting at his desk looking at the information about Liu Yunshu in his hand.

Although he heard the man call Yun Shu "sister" last night, he was still worried that he might have some unusual fetishes, so he sent someone to investigate.

He had no time to look at anything else; all he could see was that phrase: Liu Yunfan, Liu Yunshu's younger brother.

He was overjoyed; it turned out she didn't have a boyfriend!

He hurriedly got up from his office, grabbed his suit jacket, and walked out.

The leather shoes made a rapid sound on the marble floor. The secretary who was passing by was about to report on her work when she saw President Lu's hurried figure. She was so surprised that she couldn't speak.

"Prepare the car, let's go to the apartment!" Lu Yan got into the car and gave the driver the order, his fingers tapping unconsciously on his knee, his eyes filled with undisguised excitement.

The street scenes outside the car window rushed past, but he felt that every second was incredibly long, his heart filled with the eagerness to see Liu Yunshu.

As soon as the car stopped in front of the apartment, Lu Yan strode inside.

Pushing open the door, the room still held the ambiguous atmosphere of last night.

Lu Yan's gaze swept over the messy bed and scattered hair, but he couldn't find the person he longed for.

Seeing that the breakfast on the table was untouched, his heart skipped a beat, and the joy that had just surged up was instantly overwhelmed by unease.

"Yun Shu..." Lu Yan called softly, his voice echoing in the empty room, tinged with a hint of helplessness.

Could it be that Yun Shu was dissatisfied with my performance last night? But she clearly...

Lu Yan took out his phone to dial her number, but he forgot that he hadn't saved her number yet!

"Damn it!"

Lu Yan opened the door and walked towards the car. Seeing this, the driver quickly asked, "Mr. Lu, where are we going?"

Lu Yan frowned, his voice tinged with annoyance: "To the flower shop!"

His only thought was to find Liu Yunshu and find out why she left, and whether he had done something wrong.
