The Witch's Wandering Alchemist's Diary
Chapter 14 The Kobold is a Treasure Trove
By the time everyone had left, it was already afternoon.
However, before evening even arrived, Lou Le was already preparing to check out his dinner utensils.
The crucible is completely black, thirty centimeters high, and about forty centimeters in diameter.
The stone mortar used to grind herbs is grayish-white.
The entire alchemical table is tall and thick, with an opening in the middle.
The brazier is a structure with inner and outer rings, connected by an iron strip.
The inner ring is a recessed pit covered with sheet metal.
This way, the outer ring can be secured to the table, and even if the inner iron basin contains firewood or charcoal, it will not scorch the wooden table.
The crucible needs a tripod stand so that it can be placed on a table instead of directly on the iron basin, to prevent the iron basin from falling.
[Thick iron crucible]
It is extremely valuable.
It is a metalworking tool.
It is very sturdy.
Stone mortar
It is fragile.
It is a metalworking tool.
It may produce fine stone dust.
Lou Le glanced at it and then ignored the last message from the stone mortar. Only ordinary alchemists needed to pay attention to that; his star-gazing technique didn't require him to worry about impurities.
The Life Leaves were piled up in the alchemy room, basket after basket; about ten baskets were delivered.
A basket contains about a few dozen leaves of life.
First, I went back to my room, where those people even brought me clothes.
Lou Le was not surprised; his status as an alchemist and a first-circle mage was enough to make these people fawn over him.
Whether it was a vial of potion peeking out from under their fingers or two spell models they had acquired, both were sufficiently attractive to them.
The clothes were ordinary mage robes, two layers in total, and the material was not rough linen, but some kind of cotton fabric.
Inside was a single layer of fabric with three holes cut out, and two cuffs were added.
Once you put it on, the overall feeling is relaxed, because there is no fixed pattern, so it is easy to do any movement.
However, a rope is needed to be used as a belt to tie around the waist so that it fits better.
Every mage, when they are still apprentice mages, always learns the first spell to activate ropes.
It has multiple uses, including binding, climbing, and exploration, and is very effective against humanoid enemies.
It can fly directly to the enemy, and the moment it hits the enemy, it will coil around the enemy like a snake.
Furthermore, the mages would continuously upgrade their ropes using various materials, making them stronger and lighter.
That rope would be used as a belt when there were no enemies.
Unfortunately, Lou Le couldn't activate the ropes at all!
She planned to wait until later, under the guise of exchanging spells, to obtain basic zero-ring magic from Dwight.
As for first-level spells, she didn't even dare to hope to obtain them.
After all, knowledge is power. Dwight probably won't sell his first-level spell.
The outer garment was a typical travel robe, with wide sleeves, a huge hat, and a long hem that reached down to the feet.
As for the shoes, they were dog-skin shoes.
Kobolds are the most common and numerous creatures. Their belly skin is soft and is mostly used to make shoes and gloves. The skin on their backs is tough and thick, and can be made into leather armor.
The thigh bones are hard and not easily ground down. They are usually made into hoes or picks and sold to farmers who cannot afford iron farm tools.
Other smaller bones are made into small items such as bone needles and bone nails.
As for the meat?
Although we are really poor now, most people have a strong aversion to kobold flesh.
Kobold flesh has a foul, fishy smell and is infested with parasites. It also tastes terrible and has very little fat.
Dog-headed people are also intelligent beings, and people have a deep-seated resistance to them.
But that doesn't mean they couldn't eat it. Merchants would cook it into a soup, then scoop out the scraps and sell them as animal feed to others.
The broth will be evaporated and boiled down to form a dried broth block.
For many ordinary people, these bouillon cubes were the cheapest source of meat flavor.
Moreover, it does not cause physiological aversion.
Lou Le's shoes are dog-skin shoes, not distinguishing between left and right, high-top, and with shoelaces.
Wooden blocks were nailed to the soles of the shoes so that they could walk on hard surfaces.
The shoes are on the longer side, but the toes can be rolled up.
Lou Le went downstairs to boil water, took a bath, and then changed into his new clothes.
The dog-skin shoes felt soft and comfortable underfoot, definitely much better than wooden shoes.
She took a piece of wood from the warehouse and headed towards the alchemy room, ready to begin alchemy.
Firewood was a rare material in ancient times, especially in the Middle Ages.
The forest is mostly owned by the nearest lord, but fortunately, this is the Darkwood Forest, which has an inexhaustible supply of timber.
Every year, the woodcutters would cut down the trees on the outskirts, chop them into firewood, and then transport them to Ghostwood Town.
The people here are not worried about damaging the forest. During the rainy season each year, saplings will sprout wildly in those open spaces, and in less than two years, they will grow into trees with a diameter of half a meter.
Those weeds and saplings are just too many to handle.
This incident caused the expansion of Ghostwood Town to be extremely unsuccessful. A piece of uncultivated land can take at least two or three years to become cultivated.
Every year during the rainy season, those barren lands are overgrown with weeds again.
The fact that raw land cannot be transformed into cultivated land makes food supplies scarce in Ghostwood Town, which is why Ghostwood Town was able to accept dog-headed human flesh soup noodles so quickly.
However, Lou Le doesn't need to worry about firewood, because as long as she lights the fire, she can control it to absorb magic power from the air to burn.
Lou Le lit the firewood and then threw it into the brazier.
Place the tripod on top, and then place the crucible on top.
Water must be added to the crucible, and there must be a water reserve to prevent mistakes when refining potions, as water is needed to pull the potion bottle back to its original position.
Lou Le placed a basket of Life Leaves on the alchemy table beside him, took out a stone mortar, threw in the Life Leaves, and began grinding.
"No herbs that release their medicinal properties, and only about half of the movement route?"
Lou Le stared at the dotted lines appearing on the medicinal herbs, then used her Star Gazing Technique to carefully compare the paths.
The healing potion requires eight Life Leaves, and all of them must be ground up before they can be used.
Lou Le continuously ground the Life Leaf in the stone mortar, making a total of eight.
After each grinding of the life-giving leaves, the inside of the mortar almost turned green.
Using a scraper, the medicinal residue and juice on the inner wall of the mortar were poured into the bubbling crucible.
Lou Le was diligently performing alchemy.
