The Witch's Wandering Alchemist's Diary
Chapter 21 This is not a sinkhole major at all!
"How much should this bottle of frost potion cost?"
"Two gold coins? Three gold coins?"
She muttered to herself, somewhat hesitant.
"Five gold coins? Ten gold coins?"
But then the little witch remembered something else. She had seen in the adventurers' logs that all mages, whether apprentices or trainees, now use Frost Rays.
"It won't fetch a high price."
Lou Le muttered, "Then let's order three gold coins, that should be acceptable."
After cleaning the crucible, she began making mana potions.
The process is similar to that of other pharmaceuticals; the only thing to pay attention to is the degree of stirring.
Once all the medicinal materials are put into the crucible, the trajectory of the medicine is already determined.
Stirring propels the potion along its path, and to light up the potion star, the potion and the star must touch each other.
Even if you touched it, if you continue to stir it, the potion will continue to move along its trajectory, thus separating from the potion star.
Then, this pot of medicine is ruined.
Two Dream Beetroots, plus the Entwining Grass, were barely enough to touch the Potion Star.
She kept stirring, but in the end, she didn't even dare to put the stirring spoon into the crucible.
The movement of the creeping vine is like a stretched spring, and only at the highest point of the fourth curl can it barely touch the potion star.
In the end, she only dared to keep using a spoon to light the burning potion in the crucible.
Staring at the trembling potion bottle on the Star Gazing Method, Lou Le spent an hour making a magic potion.
When she lit the potion star, she didn't even dare to take the spoon out again, for fear that doing so would cause the potion to continue moving.
On a whim, she quickly manipulated the flames to amplify.
The crucible bubbled and gurgled, and when it was ready, it exploded with a loud bang, creating a mushroom cloud.
Lou Le coughed incessantly from the choking.
"Cough cough cough."
The little witch waved her hand, dispersing the smoke, before peering inside.
The color of the mana potion is still blue.
However, it wasn't a typical ice blue. It was a pale blue, with twinkling stars within it.
Lou Le put it into three bottles, and then went to wash his face.
He put the frost potion in his satchel and then headed toward the mage tower.
Now, his biggest clients are those mages.
As always, at the Mage Tower, she simply knocked on the door, and an apprentice mage quickly opened it.
He said obsequiously, "Your Excellency the Weaver, you have arrived."
After nodding, Lou Le skillfully walked into the reception room and asked them to bring out a plate of fruit, but this time without bread.
The apprentice monk had no desire to refuse and nodded directly, saying, "Your Excellency the Weaver of Dharma, please wait a moment. I will go and wake my teacher right away."
He quickly ran upstairs to call his teacher.
"Teacher, the Weaver Pavilion has arrived."
His teacher was not Farin, but another apprentice mage.
Upon hearing this, the apprentice monk's spirits lifted: "It seems something serious has happened. I must go find my teacher too."
"Go and wake up all the other apprentice monks. Tell them I told them to do this."
"Yes!" the apprentice monk replied loudly.
This is a great task; I might even get a reward from other adults.
Dwight's door was soon knocked on, and the apprentice mage said, "Master, the gentleman has arrived."
Dwight paused for a moment before saying, "Wait a minute."
He stayed up late again last night. This is not uncommon for a monk.
After all, what kind of mage is one who doesn't stay up all night?
After washing up, as he walked downstairs, he saw that his apprentices were all up.
Farin asked his teacher, "Teacher, what do you think that person is here for today?"
Dwight glanced at Farin: "What do you think?"
"They're probably here to deliver medicine," Farin guessed.
"I wonder if they've figured out how to create a magic potion?" another mage apprentice suggested tentatively.
"Impossible, absolutely impossible," Farin said. "There are only a few rules to follow when making alchemical potions. Everything else is done through experimentation."
"It requires trying your luck time and time again. Even if you fail a hundred thousand times, you might not be able to figure it out even with just one potion."
Farin said, "I once saw a record in my teacher's notes about an alchemist who had never been able to develop any new potions, not even a new formula for an existing potion, nor even a low-quality formula with a modified ingredient. As a result, he remained an apprentice alchemist."
"The profession of alchemist is a bottomless pit! A pit within a pit! Don't be fooled by the high earnings; without good luck, you can never become a true alchemist!"
He said with absolute certainty, "Moreover, mana potions are the most difficult potions to change. There are only three formulas circulating in the world right now."
Dwight glanced at Farin and said, "You're right. Most alchemists are people who can't become mages, but alchemy is a terrible profession because there's not much professional theory involved, and it's almost like being a witch."
"The results are all based on experimentation. There isn't much technical skill involved, but every alchemist who can create potions and modify formulas is truly wealthy and incredibly skilled."
"As the saying goes, three years as a beggar's apprentice, ten years as a wealthy nobleman. This refers to an alchemist. Even a penniless beggar can become a wealthy nobleman after ten years if he becomes an alchemist's apprentice."
"But this is just a lie. Do you understand? Because alchemy is too difficult, they're afraid no one will want to learn it. So, this is how they're making more people become alchemist apprentices."
"Even now, medicine is still a rare commodity."
As Dwight spoke, the students behind him looked at their teacher with admiration.
This alchemist may look glamorous, but it's a trap.
Upon arriving at the reception room, he was just about to exchange some pleasantries.
Lou Le simply took out two bottles of potion and placed them on the table, one ice-blue and the other a light blue that shimmered with light.
Lou Le ate some fruit: "One bottle of Frost Potion, one bottle of Mana Potion. Cost price: Frost Potion three gold coins a bottle, Mana Potion ten gold coins a bottle."
"If you provide the materials, this is the price. If you don't provide the materials, then it's a different price."
The apprentice monks watched their teacher silently, their feelings a mixture of emotions.
