Baron Cullen

Chapter 28 Crimes in the Sewers

The moment the words left his mouth, Raz's expression changed completely.

The two moved almost simultaneously, one fleeing for his life while the other relentlessly pursued.

But just moments later, a dagger was plunged into the back of Raz's right knee!

"ah!!!"

A piercing pain contorted his face, and he let out a hoarse scream.

He quickly raised his bone staff, and under a strange green light, terrifying and bizarre phantoms appeared all around him!

This is his most relied-upon trump card, the fourth-tier spell "Sinful Evil Spirit"!

"Bright, I'm here to help you!"

At this moment, Lamont didn't waste any words. He stomped his feet and charged towards Raz like a cannonball!

He swung his giant axe, cleaving it with a piercing shriek that tore through the air!

Upon seeing this, Raz's expression turned extremely ugly.

He raised the bone staff in his hand again, and under the eerie green light, a wall made of bones instantly rose from the ground, blocking his way.

boom!

Lamont's giant axe slammed into the bone wall, and the violent supernatural elements blasted the bone fragments on it into the air!

Twisted cracks immediately appeared on the bone wall, but it did not completely break.

The defensive spells of a fourth-tier wizard are exceptionally sturdy.

At the same time, Vision, a fourth-tier mage, raised one hand and chanted an unknown spell.

The temperature around him plummeted, and countless sharp ice spears instantly condensed around him before raining down on Raz!

With his other hand, he controlled a blazing fire serpent, attacking from the flank.

Seeing this, Raz could only grit his teeth and keep summoning twisted evil spirits to their deaths in order to shield him from the two surging and fierce elemental magics.

However, he had no time to react when a dark shadow suddenly rose from the shadows behind him.

The shadow moved suddenly, and two daggers plunged fiercely towards his back!

"Ah! Damn it!!!" Raz screamed in pain, "Even if I die, I'll drag you all down with me!"

Being attacked from both sides left him in a very sorry state, and the intense pain contorted his face.

With the cooperation of three fourth-tier superhumans, they almost instantly cornered the once arrogant Raz!

The next moment, a ruthless glint flashed in his eyes!

Suddenly, the eerie green eyeball at the tip of his bone staff burst forth with an unprecedented light, and an extremely dangerous aura began to gather.

"Interesting, are they preparing to fight to the death?" Bright keenly sensed the abnormality, but his expression remained relaxed.

On the other side, Lamont and Vision also intensified their offensive, trying to interrupt Raz's spellcasting.

However, Raz clearly understood that this was his last chance.

He took the brunt of an ice spear attack, and his left shoulder was also torn open by the shockwave from Lamont's attack.

Blood stained his black robes, but the obscure incantations from his mouth did not stop.

But just then, Bright appeared like a ghost, his dagger flashing coldly in the dim passage!

This attack was so fast and fierce that there was absolutely no way to avoid it!

puff!

The dagger pierced through Raz's right wrist, severing it completely!

The bone staff flew out of his hand!

Raz staggered back a few steps, spitting out a mouthful of blood, followed by a painful groan.

At this moment, his eyes were dull and his face was as still as death.

His last trump card was forcibly interrupted, resulting in a severe backlash; defeat was inevitable!

"Bright, this last one is up to you."

Lamont glanced at Raz, who was completely unable to resist, and then turned around and walked towards the crowd.

Vision, who was standing to the side, also had no objections and went to take care of the association members.

However, after hearing these words, Raz revealed a strange smile and said, "Kill me? You think you're worthy?"

He coughed up a mouthful of black blood, and his eyes suddenly lost their fear of death, instead filled with a kind of fanatical determination.

"This guy is going to commit suicide!"

Bright, being experienced, immediately sensed something was wrong and thrust his dagger forward without hesitation, intending to completely disable Raz's mobility.

But it was too late.

Raz used his still-functioning left hand to slam his fist into his chest!

His fingertips, stained with his own blood, quickly traced a twisted symbol across his chest.

Immediately afterwards, he uttered several obscure syllables quickly from his hoarse throat, and the symbol on his chest suddenly burst forth with a jet-black light!

As the light faded, his eyes lost all luster, his skin quickly turned ashen, and he withered away at a visible speed until he was completely lifeless.

All three fourth-tier transcendents could see that it was an extremely vicious curse.

The scene was completely silent.

Everyone looked rather grim.

The fact that they would rather commit suicide than be caught and taken back suggests that the secrets they are hiding are extremely huge and quite dangerous.

This is not a good thing for them, or for the entire City of No Breath.

After Raz's death, everyone began the cleanup work.

Everyone who was locked in that room was safely rescued and taken to the hospital in Breathless City for treatment, along with Karen.

After all, they are important witnesses who can provide valuable evidence and intelligence for subsequent investigations.

The casualties of the various factions were quickly tallied.

Five members of the battle squad were killed, seven were seriously wounded, the rest were slightly wounded, and one was unconscious.

Three members of the Order Keeper squad were killed, four were seriously wounded, and the rest were slightly wounded.

One member of the Mage Association squad was killed, three were seriously wounded, and the rest sustained minor injuries.

As for the knights who were originally responsible for the relatively safe position of covering the rear, all of them except for Captain Derek were killed in action!

It can be said that each faction paid a heavy price.

...

The next day, Karen woke up in her hospital bed.

He had just opened his eyes when he saw the spotless white ceiling and was completely stunned.

Is this... a hospital?

Could it be that he didn't die, and that his previous experience of transmigrating into a nobleman in another world was all just a dream?

A deep sense of disappointment suddenly swept over me.

If it's just a dream, then he will still have to face his terminally ill body every day, and live in constant fear of dying at any moment.

"You're finally awake! You did a great job this time!"

Just then, a familiar voice came from his ear. He quickly turned his head and saw that the person who came was none other than Lamont, who had helped him!

It wasn't a dream after all.

Lamont walked up to Karen, and after confirming that the latter's complexion had returned to normal, he smiled with relief and said, "You've got some nerve, kid!"

I heard from the brothers in the group that if it weren't for the two of you holding off those two men in black, Olsen probably wouldn't have had time to contact us.

By then, all we'll see will probably be the corpses of our comrades and colleagues.

You saved them, and you also saved those poor people who were arrested.

"No, it wasn't just my doing." Karen shook her head. "Mr. Adams Gill, the Order Keeper's squad leader, also played a part. It was because he trusted me completely in that critical moment that we were able to stop those two."

By the way, how is Mr. Adams doing now?

As soon as he finished speaking, Lamont froze, and the forced smile on his face vanished without a trace.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but the words just wouldn't come out.

Seeing this, Karen's expression changed slightly, and she quickly asked, "Has something happened to Mr. Adams?"

Lamont hesitated for a moment, but finally told the truth:

"He...sacrificed himself."
