Baron Cullen

Chapter 67 A Plan to Turn the Tide

Bringing her thoughts back, Karen's face remained largely expressionless: "Don't worry, I'll keep watch today."

Lamor was overjoyed, but barely containing his excitement, he said, "Very good, I'll keep an eye on you!"

After saying that, he didn't linger and turned to walk towards the training ground at the base.

Watching Ramour's somewhat pleased figure as he left, Karen's eyes turned completely cold.

It's time to close the net.

Instead of heading towards the training field, he turned and walked toward Lamont's office.

Inside the office.

After listening to Karen's account of how Lamour had specifically reminded him to be on duty that night, and the conclusion drawn from connecting all the clues, Lamont's expression became extremely solemn.

"It seems they really are going to make their move, just as you predicted!" He sneered. "Bastian went so far as to blow up the prison to rescue Kevin, all for this!"

Now that he has Kevin, this devil, as his weapon, he's clearly making a last-ditch effort.

Thinking of this, he looked at Karen: "What's your plan?"

"Let's turn the tables on them," Karen said calmly. "This is a good opportunity to wipe them out and the mysterious person behind them all."

However, the enemy may possess powerful methods or allies unknown to us, so our battle group alone may not be able to guarantee complete success.

Lamont nodded in agreement: "That's right. This matter must be reported to the city lord and the bishop."

After confirming some details, Lamont quietly went to the city lord's mansion and the church, where he met with City Lord Delano and Bishop Albert respectively.

He told the two of them everything that Karen had discovered, the judgments she had made, and the plans she had made.

Inside the city lord's mansion, a fierce glint immediately flashed in Delano's eyes after hearing the story.

Kevin's prison break and the resulting bloodshed had completely crossed his line, and Bastian was a cancer he had long wanted to eradicate.

"Alright." After a moment's thought, he said, "I will personally lead a guard to meet with Bishop Albert and ambush him around the warband's base."

"As soon as Lord Karen Waller gives the signal, we will act immediately to ensure that no one escapes."

On the church side, Bishop Albert nodded in agreement without hesitation after learning of the news brought by Lamont.

"It is my negligence and my crime that such heresy has occurred within the Church." Bishop Albert's tone was unusually angry. "I will personally lead the Church's combat friars to join the Lord in cleansing this city of evil."

I admire the quality and courage of Baron Karen Waller, who willingly became bait, and I believe the God of Light will surely bless him.

Soon, the three forces reached an agreement and swiftly laid a deadly trap for Bastian and Kevin.

All that remains is tonight, and then everything will come to an end.

...

Evening arrived as scheduled.

Karen remained in the training grounds of the warband's base, seemingly oblivious to the situation, continuing to polish the greatsword in her hand.

As his colleagues gradually left, the area quickly quieted down.

Lamor even went up to him again to give him some more instructions before leaving with peace of mind.

Watching the other person's departing figure, Karen felt no fear what lay ahead.

He would become an isolated and helpless child, facing the deadly attack of at least one ruthless fourth-tier warrior.

Although a plan had been made in advance, in order to avoid any unexpected incidents, both the city lord and the bishop were lying in ambush at least two streets away from their residence.

At this distance, it is more than enough for a fourth-tier warrior to kill a second-tier warrior and then leave calmly.

There are certainly dangers involved.

But Karen knew that Bastian and the others would probably not show up unless she put herself in danger.

As he pondered, he slowly wiped the greatsword while silently counting the time in his mind.

I don't know how much time passed.

As darkness fell completely, the battle group's base was utterly silent.

Karen was standing in front of a wooden stake, doing some simple training, with a sharp whooshing sound coming from the air every now and then.

But soon, the rhythmic sound of wind being cut was suddenly mixed with an extremely rapid sound, followed by a series of light footsteps coming from behind him.

"Karen Waller!!!"

A figure roared as it rapidly approached from the darkness in the distance, and then revealed its true form.

Kevin Connor!

At this moment, he looked at Karen in front of him, his eyes filled with intense resentment and murderous intent.

"Finally, I've got you! I told you I would never let you go!" He grinned, revealing a sinister smile. "Have you thought about how you want to die?"

However, as soon as he finished speaking, he noticed that Karen in front of him had a calm expression, without any shock or fear.

Kevin frowned and said, "You don't seem surprised?"

"What do I need to be surprised about?" Karen said calmly, while quietly activating the mysterious runes deep within her right eye. "Since you were able to escape from prison, I don't believe you'll just run away like this."

"If you don't escape, you'll simply have to seek revenge on the city lord or me."

Kevin paused for a moment, then laughed and said, "Interesting! No wonder you've been doing so well in such a short time. I really underestimated you!"

However, after tonight, there will be no more Karen Waller!

As soon as he finished speaking, a terrifying aura suddenly erupted from his body, and the oppressive feeling belonging to a fourth-tier warrior surged towards Karen like a fierce tidal wave.

Seeing this, Karen's expression gradually became serious.

It wasn't because he was about to face a fourth-tier warrior alone, but because, from the peculiar perspective of the mysterious runes, he couldn't find any trace of Bastian or the mysterious man!

What happened?

Could it be that the other side discovered his plan in advance, so they only sent Kevin?

Just as Karen was thinking and getting into a fighting stance, Kevin, who was not far away, suddenly swayed.

His face instantly turned extremely ugly, and the originally surging fourth-order aura around him became extremely unstable at this moment.

Sometimes strong, sometimes weak, like a candle in a storm.

"Damn it! What's going on?!" Kevin's eyes widened in shock, but then he realized something. "Impossible! Could it be that the side effects of that pill... are kicking in now?!"

He was still a fourth-tier warrior after all, and his judgment of his own situation remained accurate.

After taking the pill, his escape from prison involved an almost retaliatory use of his supernatural elements, which had already left huge aftereffects on his body.

At this moment, the side effects and aftereffects of the pills became fully apparent!

His strength fluctuated between the fourth and second tiers, and as time went on, his body gradually became more fragile.

Karen used the mysterious runes to observe Kevin's body and calmly said, "It seems you're not doing too well."

In this state, can you still kill me?
