Sequence Ocean Survival: Awakening God-Tier Sequences at the Start
Chapter 26, the last map? You call this the last one?!
"Team Leader Zhou, over there."
Lu Sheng's voice was soft, yet it was like a precise pointer, instantly attracting everyone's attention.
Zhou Hai looked in the direction he was pointing and raised an eyebrow.
In the corner, behind a makeshift stall made of wooden planks, sat a man with a pointed face and monkey-like features.
There was a sign with words written on it in charcoal next to him, and he was leisurely using a fork to twirl a bowl of steaming instant noodles.
The handwriting on the sign was messy, but the content was earth-shattering.
"Latest version of the Dragon Kingdom map for sale, first come, first served!"
"Let's go!" Zhou Hai didn't hesitate at all. With a wave of his hand, he led the three of them through the noisy crowd and straight to the stall.
The man with the pointed mouth and monkey-like face seemed to sense something. He looked up and saw Zhou Hai and his three companions walking menacingly towards him. His eyes lit up instantly.
That wasn't wariness, but the look in a hungry wolf's eyes when it sees a fat sheep.
He quickly put down the instant noodles he was holding, wiped his greasy hands on his clothes, and put on a warm but fake smile: "Hey! Gentlemen, you're all outstanding people! Want to buy a map?"
"Name your price." Zhou Hai was too lazy to waste words with him and got straight to the point.
"Hehe, boss, you're so generous!" The weasel-faced man rubbed his hands together, holding up five fingers, his eyes gleaming with greed. "I have an exclusive source! In the entire Golden Triangle, only I, Monkey Three, have the connections to get the latest and most complete maps! Those large fleets planning to go west all have to come to me begging and pleading!"
He paused, lowered his voice, and said mysteriously, "To be honest, gentlemen, I only have one left!"
"Five boxes of instant noodles," Monkey Three announced a price that made the air freeze.
Zhao Ze's brows furrowed instantly.
Five boxes of instant noodles, enough for an average person to eat for more than a month, just to exchange for a single sheet of paper?
Zhou Hai's face also darkened, but unexpectedly, he only remained silent for two seconds before speaking in a deep voice: "Okay."
"But how can I be sure your map is genuine?"
"Don't worry, Big Brother!" Monkey Three patted his chest and laughed confidently, "We'll go to the Jin Mao Tower first, and complete the transaction under the witness of the Justice Bank. We'll inspect the goods before payment, and there will be no cheating! This is a rule set by the three giants!"
Zhou Hai nodded: "Okay."
He turned to Zhao Ze and said, "Old Zhao, come with me to the ship to get the supplies."
"No!" Monkey Three immediately spoke up to stop them. He glanced warily at the four of them. "According to the rules, only one person can go to pick up the goods. You three will stay here as collateral."
A hint of displeasure flashed in Zhou Hai's eyes, but he held it back.
"I'll go alone." He glanced at Lu Sheng and the other two, and said in a deep voice, "You guys go with him to get the map and inspect the goods."
"Okay." Zhao Ze nodded to Lu Sheng.
Soon, a staff member from the Jin Mao Tower approached. He was a level 2 Spirit Source user with a blank expression. He led Zhou Hai towards the dock as if he were guarding a prisoner.
"Please, everyone," Monkey Three said with a smug smile as he led the way.
Lu Sheng and the other two followed behind him, crossing a steel suspension bridge connecting the Central Tower and the Jin Mao Tower.
Beneath the bridge, murky seawater churned.
Monkey Three's warehouse is located on the first floor of the Jin Mao Tower above the water. This floor was originally not rented out, but has now been transformed into individual storage rooms.
He led the three to a heavy iron gate, pulled out a large bunch of keys from his pocket, waved them around ostentatiously, and then opened the gate.
"Clatter".
The emergency lights came on, dispelling the darkness.
When Lu Sheng saw the scene inside the room, his pupils involuntarily contracted slightly.
This isn't a warehouse at all; it's clearly a mini-supermarket!
Rows of shelves were piled high with a dazzling array of goods.
From boxes of instant noodles and biscuits to canned goods and drinks of various flavors, there were even several boxes of precious medicines and several barrels of diesel fuel emitting a pungent odor!
Zhao Ze's breathing also became somewhat heavy, and a hint of shock flashed in his eyes.
All the supplies their Flame Fleet plundered, even after fighting tooth and nail, probably didn't amount to as much as what's here.
This unscrupulous merchant, however, lived like a local tyrant by selling intelligence.
"Hehe, don't be shy, you're welcome to come in and look around." Monkey Three was clearly enjoying their shocked expressions. He walked triumphantly to the back of the warehouse and lifted a waterproof tarpaulin.
Instead of the map you might imagine, what you found was... an old-fashioned printer/copier.
Monkey Three carefully took out a laminated map from his pocket, placed it gently on the printer, and then skillfully pressed the copy button.
"Buzz—"
The machine started running, accompanied by a slight noise, and Monkey Three's map was slowly being printed out.
Monkey Three laughed and said, "Gentlemen, I wasn't lying to you, was I? I guarantee it's the latest version, still warm!"
The air was deathly silent.
Zhao Ze's lips twitched violently.
Su Li, who had been silent all along, had veins bulging on her hand as she gripped the scabbard.
Lu Sheng stared blankly at Hou San, while a million grass mud horses galloped through his mind.
"Didn't you say... this was the last one?" he said quietly.
"That's right!" Monkey Three said matter-of-factly, even with a hint of innocence. "I didn't say anything wrong. This original map of mine is indeed the last one! But I didn't say... it can't be copied!"
"..."
"..."
"..."
Zhao Ze and Su Li were completely silenced by this man's shamelessness.
Good heavens, your business logic is a hundred years ahead of the apocalypse!
Lu Sheng didn't speak again, but his gaze subtly swept over the pile of supplies behind Hou San.
Looking at the mountain of supplies, and then thinking about how the survivors in the fleet could only get a single biscuit a day, a surge of anger quietly rose in Lu Sheng's heart.
A thought struck him, and he opened his system panel.
Storage space: 9.5 cubic meters remaining.
well.
A cold smile curled at the corners of Lu Sheng's lips.
This unscrupulous merchant traded five boxes of instant noodles for a single sheet of photocopy paper.
Now, he's going to get it back twice as much!
